One of the most easiest and strongest for low lvl starting up.
Build a trap boat and go search for one high lvl. They don't require any saddle. So means you can ride them even at lvl 1.
They are Really strong melee and with a huge knockback effects.
Later you will take him in caves
You will collect berries easy
You will collect fiber really fast.
You will collect thatch really fast.
You can put any helmet. Giving him flak helmet and more and he receive way less damage then some 25 armor saddle from other mounts
You won't regret him.

More Gigantopithecus Utility Tips
Would be awesome if Gigantopithecus could ride two-seated mounts with you, even if just for us singleplayers to feel like we have company!
TLC patch to be added in March 2018 to add armor degrading attack, jump ability, and aiming system for throw. Like for people to see!
Possibly the most useful creature to go caving with as his small size but large health and damage allows him to withstand onycs,spiders and scorpions haven't encountered a arthurplura yet so not sure how effective he is against it
On mobile, you can actually harvest fiber with them. Just get off of your ape in a bush and they will squat down and gather a good amount of fiber.
Can climb on zip lines.

To the people saying that these things should be able to wield swords:
Imagine being on a pvp server, and then someone with a fully imprinted and mutated big monke with 1.5K% melee shows up and pulls out an ascendent sword that does 400 base damage...
Sounds pretty balanced and fun
Situation described above will result in 6000 damage per hit btw, aka enough to kill tamed giga (without saddle) in 3 hits
These are super underrated for early-mid game!
- Great plant based harvesting
- can use ziplines
- has an βemergency ejectβ that throws you far away from danger
- can use all helmets (like flak)
- can fire weapon on it while mounted
Am I the only one who just realized that you can farm meat, hide, organic polymer, keratin, and chitin with the "c" key?
These guys SHOULD work similar to a companion in other games. It should be able to wield a sword along with the ability to wear more than just a helmet. Having a tame that acts as a warrior would be very cool for battle in ARK.
