Okay so today I just tamed a giga and I was extremely lucky to find a level 55! I got on my griffin and went to the highest cliff there was (the mountain is pretty steep so the giga couldn't get me- I got all my crossbows, got off my griffin and started shooting. (5 billion years of shooting later) I knock out the giga, get on my griffin and put prime meat into it. I only needed roughly 20 prime meat, cause 1 prime meat make the tame bar go up 5%. I tamed her and her name is Snowclaws.
