More Giant Bee Encountering Tips
Everyone writing tips saying they got fooled by empty beehives when there is one easy way to tell if its empty or not:
If it buzzes or not.
If you are not close enough to the beehive to tell if it buzzes or not, then you have no reason to be raiding that beehive as you are probably unprepared:
1. Obviously you aren't able to damage the hive with melee attacks since you are on the ground, you should use a different tame or find a new beehive
2. Beehives have a 65% damage reduction against firearms, so if you are aware that you are about to use a lot of resources then go ahead
3.If the beehive you want to raid is too far away for you to tell if it buzzes or not, then at that range you can't even lure queens with honey. The reason why I mention this is because as soon as giant queen bees spawn upon the destruction of their hive they have a bug that makes them fly in a straight line infinitely until they are aggroed/startled/lured with honey, so unless you want to see a queen giant bee slowly fly away into the sky never to be seen again, then do your thing.
Flame.
Thrower.
Will not transfer over servers once you tame it.
They were bugged so you couldnt find the nests. Turns out they were invisible. The recent patch should have fixed it.
I had found about 30 beehive on The Island map. They were all empty. NO QUEEN BEE WTH.
Can't find them on Lost Island, anyone else?
Not sure if this is just me or not but on console when she summons her soldiers while trying to tame it kicks you off the server
Keep in mind that as soon as you destroy the nest the queen giant bee will start flying away instantly, so be close to the hive the moment it is destroyed. The queen flys at a slow speed, but fast enough for it to have severe consequences as if you lose sight of it for even a second you might lose it completely. After you destroy the hive you can use honey that is definitely dropped from the destroyed beehive to lure it as queen giant bees don't wander like a normal creature and instead fly in a straight line at like a 150 degree angle when they are initially spawned from a destroyed beehive, so use honey to fix its ai and actually make it start descending to the ground then wander like a normal creature.
If you don't have honey, you can also damage it by using something like a tranq arrow which won't kill it and that will also fix its ai. (obviously this will also aggro the regular giant bees)
If instead the queen bee is too far away to lure with honey, then read the first sentence of the tip again, specifically the second clause.
Bears are not immune to bees. RIP Yogi
The anti meshing keeps kill8ng my queen tame. I don't know how to stop this
