They can inflate and then they can do three things, do a huge jump that will deflate them, float/glide, and do a knockback attack that is similar to the diplodocus' only attack. They can also seat more than one person at a time
If pure tanking power is tanking into account, this thing is second to none. Just like Rock Elementals, the Gasbags has a 80% damage reduction from almost everything (as long as it is at least partly inflated). The Gasbags, however, is much easier to tame, can be bred and has a saddle which is not that hard to find at all. Their smaller hitbox is welcome when using Velonasaurs and guns from behind them as well.
The only downside is their low damage, and also that they can't damage stone (and turrets), so don't expect to raid entire bases with it alone.
When damaged, a bit of gas will escape, so unmounted ones might find themselves taking full damage after a while. If mounting is not a option, be sure to put it on Neutral from time to time so it will inflate by itself as part of the attack behavior.
Another tip most dont even know that when the gas bag is inflated it take 80% reduced damage. And with a saddle that can add lets say 50 armor to it this thing becomes a super solar for any turrit tower you may encounter.also keep in mind you lose air with the amount of damage you take but you can continue to suck in air. I recommend living oxigen and health
A good one replaces bred weight quetz with high oxy base lv oxygen and speed and it’ll haul similar or more weight far faster especially bred also probably the best tank in the game atm saddle armor imprint resistance and it’s innate 80% damage reduction when puffed all stack..... pro tip: dismount before hitting ground to 100% negate fall dmg allows precise landing by pressing c to deflate.
Being puffed up reduces all damage by 80% but any damage will deflate you, but having a better saddle reduces the damage therefor reducing how much it deflates you, this bigbugboi could be the new meta
Turret soakers. 80% dmg reduction when you have gas. Damage deflates gas. Level o2 and HP. o2 allows you to draw more air in and faster so you can suck in more than turrets can deflate leaving you with a constant 80% dmg reduction. Back into turrets and you won’t get shot off. Suffer from tek turret knock back but great for heavies. Slap a good saddle on for more protection
