Bring way more carrots than you'll need. Also, practice before on a regular Equus. Lastly, have someone to kill wild dinos because s single hit ruins the tame. Found a 130 wild unicorn and brought 100 carrots. Of course, I want doing great with effectiveness, but what ruined it was being attacked by an enraged ant eater. Kmocked me off and it despawned :'(
Can craft Lassos in Equus's inventory which can be used to reposition smaller conscious and unconscious tames into your base. Just target the KO'd Dino and ride it back to safety. Also acts as a mobile mortar and pestle.
Equus's also has a very high melee torpor modifier on right click attacks, seems to be 3-5x listed damage as torpor. A mate boosted and melee leveled Equus's can KO targets extremely quickly. I keep a male and female near my taking pen at all times.
This is supposed to help others on mobile. To feed the horse “equip” the carrot while looking at it. To see that you are looking at it a little blue and black thing will pop up. Then once its fed get close and look at the left upper corner of the screen and ride. Once it starts bucking tap the carrot in the corner of your screen. (A little side note: Keep jumping until it runs out of stamina. It becomes easier to take and more likely to not run into a Rex or something.)
The biggest butt-hope in the wilderness. If your planning to tame one;
1. Reassess your taming needs
2. Go tame something more easy, like a titanosourus
If you really want one, you’ll have to feed it, jump on its back, feed it while your on it’s back without you getting thrown off. Or it running of a cliff.
If you can successfully tame one just go one-hit KO the Overseer.
I know this is about the Equus but i tamed my unicorn without mounting it. Not sire hoe different they are but i had ghille suit and crouched the entire time behind it and kept feeding it carrots. Tamed in 4 carrots with a level 35
