Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a equus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a equus.
I’ve got the best tip to tame these things!! Make a 1 by 1 square with at least one double door on it and the rest walls. Or you could have all four walls be double doors! Easiest way is to pick it up and put it in the one by one or you could just chase it into it and shut the door! Now just stand on the outside of it and every time it lets you feed it just walk up to its face (still on the outside of it) and it should just let you feed it berries or kibble or whatever you’re using through the wall or double door! I’ve tamed 10+ of these and have always used this trick!!! Good luck taking! :D
I am playing on ark mobile meduim dif i was lvl 10 at the time make sure u lvl 10 or above they can't be tamed lower then that.

100% spawn at 53:32 at the left side of river where the redwoods is. If you stand on the beach with river in front of you and walk to the left till you find a small water gap that cut the beach to the next section and you start there and kill al the small stuff like dilos an bugs an walk back and forth from water gap to 53:32 you will get horse:) took me 10min and two spawned be calm they and do it they only have 1.8% to spawn and have at least 30+ carrots they take long to tame.

Where to start so i began a new game and wanted to tame a equus coz it's a passive tame and rideable without saddle so i spawn in left upper corner of map and ran to 40:30 and just before it did persuits to get sleeping bag spear and armor plus chest so i run up search for them dont find for 5 in game days and dying to big dinos.look part2
So this was my deepest desire and bitterest lesson but once I worked it out the simplest tame ever. So Xbox version. Find your pony. Creep up, stay low have your carrots in the last slot on hot bar. Give carrot when prompted, jump on when prompted. Now he will go nuts bucking but keep your eyes on the bottom right screen. Soon as you see the yellow prompt press Y give him carrot. Higher the lvl the more shinnanagans - but truly... Just keep your eye on the flash of yellow. No need for trapping. Once you've got one the world is your oyster.
If you have a argen or quez, you can carry it to the volcano.
After that, go behind it and feed carrot. While Equus is eating, you can ride it. Repeat feeding carrot until it is tamed. Hope you enjoy the game and have a nice day. Bye Bye
There actually is more then one possible they're just rare, misinformation is the worst information.
Ok I figured out that if u use a horse u already tamed u can feed it from behind and it won’t aggro that easy I tamed one like that -paperboy
Never try to tame a high level one unless you have smooth 15× otherwise the only thing you get is just some kicks!
They are really hard to tame, like diplocaulus. These guys get eaten by everything
So ussually woul need to have a medioum taming pen and sooth it with a soothing and passive tame it or ride it and BOOM! you have a equus
Up if this was helpfull!!!!
These guys are best at knocking out creatures who were boalaed or netted. Level up melee and it becomes a torpidity machine. It's simple, sneak up behind feed berries or veggies hop on its back and feed it when the bottom right hand corner flashes. Prey it doesn't jump of a cliff or run into a giga. Good weight and stam with good collection of berries.
Someone has good instructions on how to tame an equus, but I will add one detail, pick up the equus with an Argy and drop it in a 2x2x2 taming pen and tame it in there, it can’t escape, even though it looks like can.
I have a few equus’s and I tamed 2 and bred the rest but when I went looking for the Equus’s “ on the island” I found them by a bunch of Agro Dino's so I had to kill them so I suggest finding equus’s without agro Dino’s by them unless you want to kill them.
Another thing is that rock carrots go bad fast so make sure you get a lot of rock carrots.
Have you ever wanted to be Amish in ark? Here is your chance
Just make sure that you have enough food
If you are patient enough you will see a mother with its juvenile 145 ready for you to press E on 😇
So for ASA on Playstation you can tame these I'd you get a USB keyboard, you have keep pressing E to feed it and it will not let you control the direction with a mouse but a controller lets you turn it as normal
Bump if this helped you please, and good luck!
If on Xbox hit Y to feed! Took me awhile to figure out 😅 Also they can be found at fall biome on Fjordur 28.6, 39.8 with very minimal predators!
For anyone struggling on mobile
This took me forever to figure out but after you’ve got the hang of it it’s relatively easy. First and foremost your going to need a ton more than five carrots to tame one of these. Carrots spoil quickly and as this is a time consuming process more than half your stash is likely to spoil.
Using a stego or bronto to seems to be the most effective rockarrot gathering technique. If your taming your equestrian and run out of carrots you can leave them in a safe area to gather more, the taming percentage doesn’t go down so long as the equals isn’t Agroed to you.
When an equals is agroed to your survivor it will stare at you while running, don’t bother trying to run as fast as you can to catch it, try to follow the direction it was headed. The most effective technique I’ve tried is using an argy to drop an equus in a taming pen (make sure it’s large enough for the horse to run (trust me) or dropping it in the oasis after my games have cleared it out and are at rest in neutral. If an argy is unavailable try and find an equus in safer locations that way you and your future friend aren’t mauled by an allo or three.
If you haven’t got the hang of taming this tricky creature be ready to whistle your tames to passive in moments notice as an equus can and most likely will knock you off and kick you.
Now that you have you 100-200 rockarrots (for up to a level 850)-yes this is a little overkill but better to be safe than sorry- find your future equus, you can either search near the volcano or even at the bottom of frozen tooth, there are other places but this is where I had the most success. Pick your equus up with your Argie and fly to your taming pen or the oasis. (If your lucky you may find some beaver dams to claim afterwards)
The equus should only agro for a moment before returning to its prancing beauty. Land your argy and head to your equus, be careful when approaching as they are skittish and agro easily. (Try from behind at first) feed it the first carrot then mount it.
This is the tricky part, when and only when the equus starts bucking feed it. If fed beforehand you will be kicked off and the horse will agro to you and you will lose your progress.
Let it run back and forth or mabey it gets caught on something but either way pay attention to its hind end. The panel at the top of the screen (where it displays the species and sex) may say to feed it, but, don’t not unless it’s tying to buck you off. You will also receive a message at the bottom of your screen each time the equus is ready to be tamed.
Keep a careful watch of your horses back legs and remember this is a time consuming process. If you have to get of your equus (wether to gather more carrots or to fight off an aggressor) be sure to do it right after you feed it or it will agro. There is a foot button on the top right of screen push this right after feeding a carrot than run away as fast as possible. No need to run far just far enough away your not going to accidentally touch it.
Now (being a very far distance away) begin to gather berries wether it be with a bronto or stego, I highly recommend stego as they are small and fit through more crevices to reach the jungle ferns.
Continue taming by mounting your horse again, feed it right away and then continue the process of waiting for it to buck and then feeding it again.
This may take a few tries but if you really want an equus than it’s worth it.
Equus aren’t very efficient berry gatherers but they do run quit fast and have a saddle which acts as a mortar and pestle but also gives the blueprint for a lasso.
Lassos can grab a wild or tamed Dino and drag it backwards to another location. This works great for getting unconscious creatures out of water. But lassos aren’t easily maneuverable as you aren’t able to steer the horse any another direction besides back and forth.
Equus has two attacks, one is simple and is really just a bite (which is used to gather berries). The other is a kick which can be used to render other creatures unconscious.
Overall equus is a great starter tame and can carry any surviver quickly over long distances. It’s relatively low health can be a danger but because of its speed it can definitely outrun even the most stubborn of Dino’s. Equus allows you to use lassos while it’s saddle doubles as a mortar and pestle. This creature can be tricky to tame but once mastered any equus you want will be considered yours after a lot of time and patience.
Hope you enjoyed! Have a great day (or evening) and happy taming

Personally what I do when I don’t have anything to carry an equus is chase the equus into a safer area (cause they only spawn in dangerous biomes) and then let it run and get stuck on a wall or a rock, then build some signs around it and tame it
If you put it in 2x2 trap then feed it while it’s head is poking through the wall you can skip the minigame needed to tame it and just passively feed it. Also works for the unicorn
Very hard to tame but get it stuck between some rocks and get every thing you need and then hop on it
