Tips & Strategies
These are great to tame. Their a bit hard though because their sensitive. I use the Equus and Unicorn a lot. Gathering but mostly taming. I've tamed T-rexes, Brontos, Thylas and more with them. Just level up the heath, stamina, movement speed, and melee a bit and... There ya go! Perfect taming mount. :)
I wish this was a knockout tame 😭
Give your equus focal chili which will give 100% extra crafting speed and 25% extra speed then craft narcotic and stimulate really fast! people can see
There is a river fork at about 76 Latitude by 62 Longitude where they gather. I didnt spot any predators in the area during the day. It is in the lower right corner of the map.
If you find one of these guys and happen to have a roccarrot you crouch and slowly approach them these guys will run like usain bolt
There is also a rare unicorn tame but there is only one on the map at a time.
They have broken the game for me now. All I do is ride around the island with a simple pistol n lasso.
I saw a lot of them spawn on North Zone 1 and 2,but be careful! Rexes and other dangerous creatures will spawn around there too!
Quick tip: I was trying to tame one at my house and it bucked me off and my other tames thought it was hurting me so they killed it. Long story short, put all your other tames on passive if you want to tame it at your house.
How I tamed on mobile:
So you kinda need an argey to do this so if you don’t have an argey then you better get one cause they’re super helpful (but the saddle unlocks at lvl 62), anyway, you’ll need to make a pen with at least a 2x2 square floor and 2x2 square walls all around (one wall should be a simple door & doorframe) once built it should look like a box without a top (do NOT make the walls out of fence, THEY WILL HOP FENCES!)
Now you either make a good bit of dilo kibble or get a lot of carrots then you hop on your argey and go lookin for your horsey. (I like plain white ones similar to the pic on Dododex cause you can dye them fun colors) Once you find a good horsey just pick it up with your argey and head back to the pen you made and plop it in there (remember that your argey’s stamina will deplet faster cause it’s carrying something)
Now you can just go in the pen with your horsey and tame it! (To tame on mobile you ride it and feed it then get off and repeat) now all you gotta do is name and color (optional) your new horsey friend!
/\ if you found helpful or (for some reason) funny, \/ if this wasn’t very helpful at all
This creature is a pain to tame but worth it. When I first got it I was like “Now, what in the world am I going to do with this?” Then I realized, it is great for knocking out wild Dino’s if you are short on tranq arrows (knocked out a lvl 120 sarco with 3 back kicks). It is also good for a mobile narcotic maker. Just put some rotten meat in this bad boy and run around getting narcoberries and use it’s saddle to make all the narcotics you want. Bam!!! Then you got all the taming supplies you need to go get some other Dino’s.
These guys have great stamina when running but when you get one PUMP UP ITS STAMINA! It has terrible stamina when fighting and if your stuck in a fight your stamina will run out really quickly, so if you don’t get away, you will either die while waiting for your stamina to recharge or your Equus will fall asleep and die. Up this so noobs will see
I feel like a tek variant would look so cool
If you are patient enough you will see a mother with its juvenile 145 ready for you to press E on 😇
Cypher's tip
Here is a useful tip.
To tame one of these creatures, you would need berries or crops. The best is just Rockarrot. Approach one with the feeding item on the last item slot. Feed it and ride it. You'll need to press the action button (E for PC players) for everytime they stopped moving or the icon on the right flashes, prompting you to use it.
To get a 100% taming efficiency on this creature, avoid spamming the buttons and carefully timing your action button. Make sure that your surroundings are clear and there are not too many threats. They often run off into random areas that tends to be near a Giga territory.
They often spawn in large open fields so that is best to look for one. Good luck and have a good one.
Found a Unicorn just north of red on dense woods. They do exist.
I swear they always by something that wants to eat me
They are mostly found ( in my experience ) Where Carnivores are ( Raptors, Carnos, terror birds etc. ) So you really have to make sure the area is safe enough so you can hop on the equus and feed it. I hope this helps!
