Equus are quite possibly the most underrated tame in the game. Their kick immediately does ~3x their attack damage in torpor, and the cooldown between kicks is almost nonexistent. One 2nd generation equus from a high level pair can KO almost any land KO tame in the game in under a minute, only excluding gigas and a few dinos like gallimimus whose torpor is unnaturally high compared to hp. You'll probably be looking at around 200-300 torpor per kick on a bred, unmutated horse, depending on levels. Imagine how high you could get it through mutations.

I use these to tame Rexes, Therizinosaurus, Yutyrannus, Griffins, etc. Never breaks a sweat. I recommend gate trapping dinos with knockback attacks, flight, and other abilities though. Trap yourself in with the dino so you can keep kicking without getting flung around. Once you get an equus, you'll never need to spend resources on tranqs again.

As a bonus, these guys are a lifesaver when it comes to getting KO'd dinos out of sticky situations. The lasso lets you drag KO'd dinos around, meaning you can stop that quetz from drowning, or pull the dino you just KO'd out of the hole in the mesh it fell in. Plus their saddle acts as a mortar and pestle if you forgot to bring narcotics along, and they can gather the narcoberries for you just fine.

Don't Listen to people who say that they are waste of time. If are probably used they will be the best early game dino ever and in taming you just have to complete hunt Megapirana task and you will get a 10X smoothing balm and then gather 8 to 10 bushes and you will get 2 carrots then just go and tame it.

BEST THINGS ABOUT THEM IS THAT THEY DO A CONTINUOUS TORPOR DAMAGE WITH THEIR KICK NOT LIKE OTHER CREATURES LIKE PACHY AND SCORPION. AND YOU AND EASILY MAKE NARCOTICS IN THEM SO THEY ARE VERY GOOD FOR TAMING.

BTW THIS IS MY FIRST TIP.

I don’t know if anyone else realised but when tamed you can craft everything the mortar and pestle can while riding the Equus

Using lasso on Equus can help you a lot in taming progress, as the lasso can drag many creatures even if they are unconscious!

Since I haven’t seen anyone say this, equus have six ‘classes’ based off of their power on mobile. If it’s power is 1.99 or less its in the lazy ‘class’, if it’s power is 2-3.09 it’s in the ‘normal’ class and will not have a special name when born, if it’s power is 3.10-4.50 it’s in the ‘swift’ class, if it’s power is 4.51-6.64 it’s in the ‘maiden’ class, if it’s power is 6.65-13.32 it’s in the ‘racing’ class, and finally, if it’s power is 13.33 above it’s in the ‘thoroughbred’ role. This is a good way to get a guess on a babies power when it’s born.
