Equus are not the most essential tame, but their speed and torpor kick, as well as saddle crafting makes the a well worthwhile tame so here’s a guide to help you tame one for yourself.

1. Equus are an herbivorous passive tame that can eat berries or crops or kibble, however, using berries and crops besides rockarrots I would highly caution against because it tanks the effectiveness, and takes forever, increasing the risk of attack, and the Equus doing something dumb like swimming or running off a cliff while taming it.

2. Locate your desired Equus and clear the area of hostile dinos, to prevent the low tame effectiveness, reset of tame progress, or death of the Equus. If you are unable to kill problematic dinos, lure them away.

3. To tame an Equus, you will need to sneak up, preferably with ghillie, or sprint up really quickly and feed it. Immediately after feeding it you need to ride it, and then as it starts to buck and show a status message telling you to feed it to calm it, you need to feed it. Repeat until it is tamed. You will not be able to control it while riding so keep that in mind with hazards around the area such as water, cliffs and lava.

I’ve got the best tip to tame these things!! Make a 1 by 1 square with at least one double door on it and the rest walls. Or you could have all four walls be double doors! Easiest way is to pick it up and put it in the one by one or you could just chase it into it and shut the door! Now just stand on the outside of it and every time it lets you feed it just walk up to its face (still on the outside of it) and it should just let you feed it berries or kibble or whatever you’re using through the wall or double door! I’ve tamed 10+ of these and have always used this trick!!! Good luck taking! :D

Equus’ doesn’t take fall damage… at a certain horse power. Now I’m not exactly sure what the lowest horse power is it for no fall damage but I had one with 2.76 horsepower that didn’t take fall damage but I have another one with a horsepower of 2.52 that did, so don’t waste your time with anything under 2.7, higher the horsepower better the horse. -V

So this was my deepest desire and bitterest lesson but once I worked it out the simplest tame ever. So Xbox version. Find your pony. Creep up, stay low have your carrots in the last slot on hot bar. Give carrot when prompted, jump on when prompted. Now he will go nuts bucking but keep your eyes on the bottom right screen. Soon as you see the yellow prompt press Y give him carrot. Higher the lvl the more shinnanagans - but truly... Just keep your eye on the flash of yellow. No need for trapping. Once you've got one the world is your oyster.

One person said they have a 200+ with 300 meelee nut mine is only 190 and has over 400 meelee without upgrading it

There a pretty good beginner tame there saddle is not that expensive and they can knock creatures out

If you have a argen or quez, you can carry it to the volcano.

After that, go behind it and feed carrot. While Equus is eating, you can ride it. Repeat feeding carrot until it is tamed. Hope you enjoy the game and have a nice day. Bye Bye

Passive tame , typically on the beaches by red obelisk in ark mobile, the lower the level the easier to tame, I do suggest building a pin for the higher level eques,you can pick them up with argi to put them in. There one of my personal favorites.

So I’ve taken Note of being knocked out twice- 🥲 please I can’t get it i play mobile and it knocked me out TWICE and disappeared the second time 😭

Ok I figured out that if u use a horse u already tamed u can feed it from behind and it won’t aggro that easy I tamed one like that -paperboy

You don’t need a saddle to ride but if you put a saddle on it the horse will work as a mortar and pestle

Someone has good instructions on how to tame an equus, but I will add one detail, pick up the equus with an Argy and drop it in a 2x2x2 taming pen and tame it in there, it can’t escape, even though it looks like can.

This thing knocked my lights out with 2 kicks after I tried to ride it lol

Never try to tame a high level one unless you have smooth 15× otherwise the only thing you get is just some kicks!

They are really hard to tame, like diplocaulus. These guys get eaten by everything

So ussually woul need to have a medioum taming pen and sooth it with a soothing and passive tame it or ride it and BOOM! you have a equus

These guys are best at knocking out creatures who were boalaed or netted. Level up melee and it becomes a torpidity machine. It's simple, sneak up behind feed berries or veggies hop on its back and feed it when the bottom right hand corner flashes. Prey it doesn't jump of a cliff or run into a giga. Good weight and stam with good collection of berries.

I, as well as many other had a hard time finding these guys. So. Lemme tell you how to find them. Over around the green obelisk, just follow the rivers, and they will spawn. Or, if you live somewhere around hidden lake, they spawn next to the big ramp like hills. Usually down right by the water. Usually just one though. I have also found three unicorns before, two in the swamp, around the obelisk, one next to the river, south west of the hidden lake. And yes. Do eat the residue, the screen filter is amazing.
