Forget using tames to bait one of these, if you’re on Gen2 just use your tek suit to swim, else use scuba gear using cactus broth (so only the eel goes for you).

This method is probably the easiest way to take one of these and requires next to no mats except a dino to get you there:

1. Make a wooden cage

2. Place it underwater

3. Kite the electro and swim over and on the opposite side if the cage so the eel is following you but swims directly into the open cage

4. Close the cage door

5. Float anywhere where you see the taming bar and not ‘open’

6. Chill out and enjoy your new electro

I did this on gen2 and the eel can not break the cage, easy tame, up this so everyone can see.

Idk why people are saying to swim away from your tame and use crossbows when you get attacked when crossbows have 36 dps and a pack of level 1 electrophoruses have almost triple of that plus if you are off your tame you will be caught in the electrophorus' shock aoe and also be stunned and most likely die in seconds.

But this is 2026 not 2019 so first of all downvtoe the tip that says that as it it outdated, and if you get caught off guard for some reason by electrophoruses while you are on your tame just attack with your tame until they either die or run away as all the electrophorus' "stun" effect does is just prevent you from sprinting and it no longer dismounts you, if you are lucky and you have a meg or ichthy you will survive with half health.

Also if you are on old mobile and you don't wanna lose a lot of health trying to kill them then just swim as fast as you can away from them until they disappear in your render distance as the stun effect from electrophoruses do not exist on old mobile.

Basilos can't be stunned by this.

This is an actual underrated tame. Have a good 6-12 of these guys can make taming aquatic creatures so much easier. Highly recommend taming these to save on tranq arrows / tranq bolts for underwater taming.

Make sure you bring stimberries. I made that mistake. The eels don’t deal much torpor alone, but if you are feeding it biotoxin and accidentally eat it, you will quickly get knocked out.

Taming guide #1: Electhrophorus

1 find the electhrophorus you want to tame ( they usually spawn in group so be carefull)

2 Use a Basilosaurus because It Is immune to them or and High HP water mount ( i used Plesio )

3 aggro the eel

4 Let It Attack your Mount

5 feed It Biotoxin ( the eel moves a lot and do Area shock Attack so pay attention )

6 You Tamed your useless light fish 👍

These spawn at the bottom of the ocean, but have no depth limit so you can lure them to the surface in for example a shallow river if you want so you can grie- i mean make it easier and safer to tame

Masstame 150's til you got 25 of them, use them together with a swarm of 50 mantas backed up by mateboosted basils, mosas and tusos.

Absolutely insane, ofc have them covered by some tek and heavies set on players only.

Have them all following a passive tame on low distance (could be an angler), and have them set on attack-my-target, and aggro range high.

Have a trapped tame as scout on aggressive and aggro range high, when it aggro towards any dinos or players, it will send the whole force to kill and stun the target, when target is out of range or dead, they will come back to base.

Umm.. just don’t eat the bio toxin while doing this I tried and ate it twice. Thankfully I went to shore before a fainted

Fun fact;

Electrophorus gets is name from the part of an electric eel’s scientific name- electrophorus electricus

Set them to follow your fastest water mount and attack its target then make them only target conscious in behaviour if you have about 30 you should be able to knock out basically anything under the sea!

Easily tamable in Valgueros aberration section as water is shallow and you can literally stand right beside it and feed.

Be well aware of your surrondings when fighting these on a Tuso S smaller tames can get stuck in you, with these however they also stop you from attacking back and you tuso is essentially dead
