Beginners tip: Its very easy to tame a dodo. You can punch it to knock it out or you can use club or slingshot. Using other weapons is a little risky as they may accidentally kill the dodo. It is sometimes peoples first tame in the ARK. After your dodo is knocked out you will want to gather berries by pressing "e" near or in a bush. Put he berries in the dodo's inventory by pressing "e" to access its inventory. After that all you have to do is wait for the dodo to eat the berries. No herbivore will eat narcoberries but you can force feed them it to increase their torpidity rating. Sometimes you will need more than 1 berry make sure you put more berries than needed. The best berry for it is mejoberries.

The dodos are one of the easiest to slay. You can punch them as many times as you want and they wont attack u. not sure about the adult ones tho...

You need them for eggs. Eggs make basic kibble, which makes taming a whole lot easier. (Only applies for basic kibble)
