Tips & Strategies

What are tips for dire bear? Tips and strategies for dire bear in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
These are AMAZING! From (admittedly limited) experience, they can gather 200+ honey from a single beehive in less than a minute at the cost of destroying the hive, but it's absolutely worth it. Also, they can help protect their rider from bees. They can take out attacking bees very fast. LMB to attack, RMB to gather. RMB also does damage to other creatures but will not damage the hive.
PS: If you have access to a Quetzal with a platform saddle, you can use that to help the bear get access to more hives and as a result get more honey. I did it and now have thousands of honey. Also, they eat both berries and meat and will eat those before eating the precious honey.
Wooo i tamed a lvl 100 and a lvl 65 with arrows
They have the same strength as rex and they can get honey without aggravating the bees so these are great tames.
These bears are sooooo OP there like a equivalent of a a cheap Rex. Although it may be hard to tame they are great for berries, honey and on certain bushes, rare flowers. They are a must tame and are absolute tanks!
I have 3, a level 164, 243 and 235, plan on breeding them!
they have a ton of melee health and weight which makes the essential land traveling tames (i know from experience because i traveled from the redwoods, passed the swamp and across the water to the crystal beaches.

Guys these things will eat berries/mejoberries
I downed a 145 with arrows and crossbow just stagger your shoots about 5 seconds apart and it will end eventually go down.
Go ahead bring a few hundred narcs with ya. Your going to need them.
Eats berries and meat! That is good because if you have more let's say, berries than meat, you can use that. (Btw they prefer berries over meat)

I Tamed this beast with rock structures you need 2 foundation 2 roof and 8 door frame and then 2 stairs make sure to build it close to the beast so it’s speed doesn’t make it fly off the trap mr bossman out🤫🧏
DONT SHOOT UNTIL IT FALLS!!! Take a careful watch over it’s health and, when it is low STOP shooting. Check the top or number with the telescope, it will continue to increase. Shoot it again only when the meter begins to go down and keep measuring until asleep.
When i tamed one for my brother, i got up on a rock which i thought was unreachable from the grund. Turns out either there was a slope or a troodon defied gravity just for a nice meal, be wary of your surroundings while taming these, it will be worth it if you put a couple lvls into health. As many others said, these things kill rexes easily.
Find some at red woods bears are good
(Hear there growls you dead XD jk)

So ya
So for the people who wants to tame this beast easily with tranq arrows:
1. You gotta set up a box trap (My design: 2 stone foundations, 6 stone doorways and a wooden ramp. The normal box trap needs only 1 stone foundation and 4 stone doorways and a ramp, but it has a flaw that when you lure the bear up the ramp, it may jump over the box and kill you. My design is better because the bear will 100% fall inside of it.)
2. Once the bear is inside the trap, shoot it with tranq arrows each per 4-5 seconds. I recommend using the spy glass to check its torpor every time you shoot it for safety of not accidentally killing it. If the hp gets too low and the torpor isnt full yet, just wait until it regens enough hp, and then shoot it again (the HP regen of the bear is faster than the torpor drop, thats why it works).
3. Optional: cover the box with spikes around it so no predators can approach it while it's on low HP
4. While it's regenerating its HP, you can go hunt for some prime meat or do something else if you have a base nearby. You can also get some dinos to come to protect the bear when it's knocked out.
5. Feed it kibbles, honey, mutton, or just prime meat (raw meat is also ok but the taming rate will be lower)
6. Congratulations now you have tamed the beast
