Tips & Strategies

What are tips for crystal wyvern? Tips and strategies for crystal wyvern in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
To tame these just jump up on their back and lay down than when they start flying you stay on them you can also feed them in the air while on his back
Hey guys, Its astro. I want to tell you a few things about the Crystal Wyvern and how to tame them.
Regulars
First, You want to be a level 75 or above.
Then, you get crystal or primal crystal from the hive (Primal crystal is advised, but if you cant do that, get regular crystal.)
Next, You will want to find yourself the wyvern you want. There are three variants, Tropical, Blood, and Ember. The tropicals spawn in the South West, Bloods spawn in the West/Central, and embers spawn in east/volcano zone.
After you find your wyvern, you want to jump onto its back (Get a good position so you don't fall!) And start feeding. Once you feed the wyvern it will start flying around in random directions. If you have a flyer with you, you should whistle follow on it so you don't loose it.
Lastly, Once you're finished taming your lovely new friend, you can take it back to your base or tame more beauties!
Additional Tips:
If you dont get positioned correctly on the wyvern and you fall off, don't panic. you can bring parachutes with you or a wing suit. If you do fall off and dont have any of those items, try to aim for water or a passive wild dinosaur. It will cushion your fall and you wont take as much damage.
Heirs
But Wait, there is another way on taming the Crystal Wyvern. The nest
In the nest you can go and grab eggs of Tropical, Blood, and Ember. Although, Ive never seen tropical eggs there, so if you want a tropical i do not recommend going there.
First, You want a good flyer. A wyvern or tropeognathus is probably the best option. Pterodactyl, Agry, and anything else are going to be way to slow and do not match the heirs' speed.
(This is if you play on official, if you dont, build a trap.)
Next, You want to find a trap and maybe take a few practices to see how it works, everyone builds different traps!
Then, You will find wyverns in the hive (possibly 20.) and lead it over to the trap, now, this is also a way to get primal crystal, trapping and knocking out.
After that, you will go back into the hive and fly around it to look for a nest. !! THEY ARE NOT ON THE INSIDE, ONLY ON THE OUTSIDE !!
After you find an egg thats a decent level (I'd say 150 - 225) you can lead all the wyverns to the trap and fly back to your base
Lastly, you hatch the egg and raise it to adult! Ta-Da! you now have a wyvern.
Additional Tips:
Wyvern heirs spawn in the bottom left corner of the desert, south of the griffin trench. Their levels are like a normal wyvern, they go to 20 - 225 (on official rates) and are aggressive. Once you pick up an egg from them, all the heirs in render radius of you will become hostile and try to attack you. These guys are also way faster than a normal wyvern. I'd recommend taking a Tropical Crystal Wyvern, because they get a speed boost in water which makes them faster than the heirs. If your wyvern is weighted down, i recommend dropping the items that would be possibly weighing you down. (Like meat, Talons (don't if you need for boss), Arrows, Bad loot from killing wyverns, ect.) These wyverns are easily detectable because they only spawn in the bottom of the desert and wear these alpha skulls on their heads.
Once you hatch the egg to the heirs, it will not spawn with the skull or look like an heir. it is a regular wyvern. The babies here do not eat milk, they eat Primal Crystal, Which I have discussed about getting.

Well, I hope this tip helps out new people who don't understand it! (aka my tribemate lol) I will be making these tips on many other dinos just to get a better understanding on them. Bye! and have fun wyvern taming!
If the crystal wyvern's aren't spawning in, kill all the ptera and sarcos, they should then start spawning back in.
They exist in UME. They have to be spawned and can be found in genesis 2 mission, survive the ark.
Don’t listen to the guy who said you need tranks, this requires no tranks! Chat! No tranks!!
They are smaller than normal wyverns so keep that in mind when making a trap because they may escape from traps meant for normal wyverns
If you jump into the water while they are agroed to you they will immediately unagro once submerged
You can drop honey onto a large bear trap to lure in a wyvern and it will make dropping stone gate frames easier to drop over its neck and behind its back. It’s best to drop the honey when the wyvern has landed.
Well, they rnt hard too tame all u need is crystal and patience as they don’t attack
For everyone saying you can only tame up to level 15 with regular crystal is wrong I just tamed 2 level 45s without primal it took 50 crystal and about 25 mins. I'm on a official server.
I've seen people claiming that only super low level wyverns can be tamed without primal crystals, but that simply isn't true.
All you have to do is jump on their back (can be done from the ground), center yourself up where the wings meet the neck, start pumping it full of regular old crystals, and enjoy the ride. I tamed 4 of them that way today, and not once did I get thrown off or have the progress bar start to drop.
THESE MIGHT BE COMING TO MOBILE SOON!!!
Ultimate survivor is coming to mobile starting with the island and scorched (hehehe mobile players gonna have microraptors)
Probably not the until late 2025 though for this map but the game should be coming this year (2024)

To get Primal Crystals, you must knock out a Crystal Wyvern and harvest Primal Crystals off their back. Once you’ve harvested once, it’ll take about an hour for the Crystal Wyvern to "recharge" and allow you to harvest more.
The number of Primal Crystals that you can harvest from a Crystal Wyvern increases with its level. A level 1 produces 2 Crystals, and it increases by 2 at roughly every 7 or 8 levels.
Lvl 1: 2 Primal Crystals
Lvl 10: 4
Lvl 20: 6
Lvl 30: 8
Lvl 40: 12
Lvl 50: 14
Lvl 100: 28
Lvl 150: 52
Lvl 200: 54
Lvl 300: 80
Lvl 400: 108
The Crystal Wyvern has an extremely high torpor depletion rate — one of the highest in the game — so it will not remain knocked out for long. You might consider trapping it in a cage so that you can harvest it again later.
Crystal isles is definitely the map for running drops! With one of these guys (preferably tropical because of their hydration when they hit the water which buffs their speed) you can get loads of good blueprints super easy by just flying around the map picking up all of the drops you see! Using this method I easily got loads and loads of amazing blueprints in just 1-2 hours, including a mastercraft crossbow blueprint and an ascendant flak chest blueprint, among loads of good saddle blueprints! Please spread.
Knockout:
1. Build a wyvern trap
2. Agro it and lead it into the trap
3. Knock it out with tracks and go up to it to grab the primal crystal
Taming:
1. Find a good wild wyvern
2. Use a grapple and shoot its neck
3. When you’re hooked on, start feeding it the primal crystal
4. You now know how to tame a 140 crystal wyvern in 10 minutes
if you want to tame a wyvern within the first couple hours of your playthrough I recommend doing easy island note runs, getting to level 65, going to crystal isles with atleast 200 weight to hold the reg crystals, make a metal hatchet, get atleast 110 crystals, hop on the back of a crystal wyvernt then going prone near the head, and just keep feeding it and your done! (for extra help I recommend getting parachutes, just incase you fall)
There are two variations of Crystal Wyverns:
1) The Crystal Wyvern hier is a highly aggressive variety of Wyvern that spawns in that Wyvern cavern on the Isles, they are untameable but you can get primal crystals from them, they also spawn in the Wyvern Queen fight.
2) The standard Crystal Wyvern can spawn in the sky above areas that match their variety they can be tamed PASSIVELY with crystals and Primal crystals.
