First craft a small thatch taming trap, use mejoberries to lure him into the trap as he can be shy at first. Once he is in bash him up until he is napping. If he misbehaves slap him on the wrist. Do this until he remembers that he has always loved you and he will then become your tame. The saddle is unlocked at lev 5
