To the guy who said there was one near his base and he needed help because he was going to die, don't worry! They're passive, well, unless you attack them. Cause if you do that, it will begin to attack you and sometimes it will even throw rocks at you. You should try to tame it because from what you said, it seems that you're still evolving in the game, and these dudes help a lot when you're gathering berries.
