Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a basilisk? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a basilisk.
They can now be tamed in Genesis 2 using Voidwyrm Eggs!!!
3 min 30 second feeding interval it seems. I have better taming effectiveness by keeping it aggroed while running it in circles. Lvl 20 only took 2 eggs. Lvl 85 took 4. Drop 1 egg. Aggro. Let it feed. Start stopwatch. When ready to feed it rears up n screams but does not spit
It’s possible to tame the basilisk while invisible mounted on a Rock Drake. The basilisk will not be able to see nor aggro on you (when camo’d), but it will start targeting other dinos nearby. Clear the surroundings of dinos and drop the egg from YOUR inventory whilst MOUNTED near/on it. Do NOT drop the egg FROM the MOUNT, as the basilisk can’t eat it and you will need to pick it up to continue the taming process. Drop one egg at a time, one right after the last has been eaten. If the basilisk moves too far away, pick the egg up and drop near it again.
Get yourself a Rock Drake, Karkinos, Spinosaur or any other creature usually ignored by this creature, dismout to gain its attention and mount again; Drop the Rock Drake Egg from YOUR inventory and proceed to circle the Basilisk until it looses interest on you. Wait for the feeding interval to end, repeat.
AS OF FJORDUR UPDATE: basilisks can now eat fertilized wyvern eggs! I got a 145 to down ONLY wyvern eggs and it completely tamed! It might hurt the taming effectiveness some but I’d say it’s still worth it if you’re not ready to get rock drake or magmasaur eggs! I did this on PS4 with no mods, meaning it should work on at least other consoles and hopefully PCs too! Up if you want fellow survivors to see this so they can stop risking their butts in the magmasaur and rock drake caves and have an easier time nabbing some wyvern eggs! (I know it works with fire and poison eggs, I haven’t tested other variants)
You Can Now Tame The Basilisk With a Fertilized Magmasaur Egg in The Volcanic biome on Genesis! Here’s A Tip if Your New To Basilisk Taming, I Majorly Recommend Placing Foundation’s on Your Trap Because They Will Borrow Underground if There’s No Foundation Placed and Lose There Taming Efficiency Also The Fertilized Magmasaur Egg Has To Be Dropped From The Players Inventory Not Your Tame! Good Luck.
If you have access to a tek chestpiece and some element, you can hover and dodge spit while dropping eggs. And if you have a full tek suit, you dont even need to dodge spit as you'll be immune to it
Put a shoulder pet (or baby Ovis in my case) under a stone foundation and watch your future basilisk be endlessly distracted. Throw the eggs nearby for an easy tame!
They also eat Wyvern eggs if anyone is wondering.
Attempt after attempt after attempt, the truly best way to tame them is to throw a pet or small dino, set a stone foundation on it, throw the eggs on top of that. It can't break the stone foundation, it will exclusively focus on the pet, occasionally eating the eggs while attacking. I found this strat way deep in the comments, so hopefully people see this and get it around.
I have tamed dozens of these. Set timer for 4 mins 20 seconds. Use ravager. Soon as it eats first egg start timer, drop next egg at 4 min and repeat. Kite it safely but DO NOT lose aggro or you lose efficiency. Don’t even let it go underground. I got a 145 with 97% effiency using rav. Multiple helmets and stim on ur tame to keep awake. Force feed when basil eats egg.
Confirmed viable in ASA Aberr- carry rock drake eggs, ride a Karkinos (they don’t aggro to Karkinos) stalk down a basilisk using your gene scanner. If the Basilisk is currently attacking other animals, just kill the surrounding animals to isolate it. Then move up next to it on your Karkinos and drop the rock eggs required for taming and Basilisk will eat the eggs
IMPORTANT! It must be at full hp to be tamed
Guys the rhyniognatha can pick up the basilisk i found it cool to be able to pick up a giant snake
Easiest and most cost effective way to Tame a Basilisk.
You need:
1x small shoulder pet ( I prefer Bulbdog but use whatever you want)
1x Metalfoundation
Enough eggs to Tame your Basilisk (check Dododex for thst based on your settings)
1x Eather Tek suit or Crossbow with grappling hooks
How to:
After you found your desired Basilisk go as close as you can to it without waking it up.
Place your shoulder pet on the ground and then place the foundation on top of it so that it's below the foundation (careful as sometimes if you go a bit away from the foundation the light pet will popp back on top of the foundation so check if it did)
Throw the eggs on top of the foundation.
Now get close to the Basilisk and lure it towards the foundation. Once it is near the foundation Eather jump with the Tek suit and fly far above him or grapple with the hook. The basilisk will loose Interest in you but will aggro on the Bulbdog and try to bite it but it can't hit it. It will remain there forever and never even bother to burrow. It will eat the egg on its own when it wants to (be careful of other Dinos as they might aggro on The pet too and due to that hit the basilisk.)
Now just wait and voilà you for a Basilisk.
I don’t know if this is going to help anybody, but my partner and I have tamed three different Basilisks with Fertilized Fire Wyvern Eggs. On Fjordor, we would use the arches from above the Basilisk, and drop the eggs down below to them. This was done by the volcano where Gigas can also be found.
I hope this helps somebody!
The exact time between feedings is 4 minutes and two seconds. Please fix.
The Basilisk can now be tamed on genesis using Magmasaur eggs so get out there and get yourself a sneaky snek! (Sadly our trade-off is that we can not birth reapers on genesis anymore)
On crystal.isles these are NOT tameable at the moment, so you will either have to spawn in a pair of magmasaurs and breed them for eggs or spawn rockdrake eggs, I would go for magmasaurs as they are breedable and rockdrakes aren't. Hope this was useful.
Whoever said basilisks can eat crystal wyvern eggs is just flat out wrong. Spent at least 4 hours trying to tame a 140, then a 130, and neither of them were tamed or even tried to eat the egg.
