These things are a GODSEND for water exploration! Their saddle is expensive but while riding it YOU DON’T NEED AN OXYGEN TANK. Other than the Grand Tortugar (Astraeos exclusive) this is the ONLY TAME THAT HAS THIS. They are also COMPLETELY IMMUNE TO JELLYFISH AND GAIN DAMAGE BUFFS WHEN THEY KILL ONE! Absolutely Goated tame!

One of the best tames in the game. Tame one immediately. They are an incredible underwater tank, and are decently fast. They turn on the spot in water, and can crawl and live on land. They are immune to jellyfish and eels, and they can harvest biotoxin better than anything. After killing a jellyfish they gain and attack buff that makes it incredibly strong. Its saddle is an infinite oxygen tank, meaning you can never run out of air with it. Its saddle also holds four people so you only need one to do underwater stuff with your tribe. The algae it produces is a herbivore equivalent for mutton, meaning you have something better than crops to take herbivores with if you aren’t at kibble tier. Its algae can also be used in a recipe to make algae sushi, the only thing in the vanilla game that can restore lost taming effectiveness. It’s a passive tame with Biotoxin and can be tamed very early on and very easily. However it only eats biotoxin, including babies, and babies have to be grown underwater or else they will suffocate on land while babies. Tame as soon as you can, these things are one of the best in the game, by far the best aquatic tame.

Leveling the food stat will increase the amount of algae you get. And leaving it in the water lowers the timer

BREEDING: babys need to be in the water. In my testing the babies start to take damage if they're on the land just before 25% raised (part way through the juvenile stage). You can hatch them on land you just need to transfer them into the water before that point. Thank you to everyone else that put up breeding tips about this!

To tame the Archelon you will need bio-toxin or kibble, once tamed the Archelon can eat mejoberries so you don’t have to keep killing jellyfish

They will eat berries after taming

I bred this turtle and then used it for underwater caving and it crushed tusos alpha megs and alpha mosas with the jelly fish amp

Get this as fast as you can. The algae they make can be used like raw mutton for herbivores and can be crafted into a sushi that repairs taming effectiveness. Small tip, archelon produce algae faster in water, so it’s best to you have them next to shore, but still in water. Definitely a must.

Babies has to grow in water until they reach adult, if you won't raise them in water in land they will die after few minites

Level it's food stat to increase the max amount of Algee it can grow before stopping.

If staying near the surface, which tbh most already do, you can hop on their back and passively feed biotoxin, especially helpful for higher levels

Breeding tip babies either need to be in a gigaraptor saddle or in the water or their health plummits very fast by 0.1 growth. Sorry for the category as I didn't know where to put this under.

Once tamed they don't require biotoxin to produce algae. They can eat berries straight from the trough.

TAMING: Have your mount hit the archelon you want to tame (you might do this by accident will trying to save it), it'll aggro for a long time. Kite it onto the land and clear out any threats while you wait for it to catch up. Hop off your mount and whistle passive. The archelon will slowly chase down your tame allowing you to casually feed it bio-toxin or kibble from behind while picturing the steam roller scene from the first Austin Powers movie.

Very useful to tame tusoteuthis, since achelon are immune to torpor and have a large amount of health to soak damage.

An underwater tank who is immune to jellyfish stings AND acts as a giant scuba tank for its riders. Oh, and it passively produces the equivalent to mutton for herbivores. Facing something you'd rather avoid in the water? Just take your turtle onto the land; that's right, despite not having an O2 stat, this mount can also travel on land. For how easy it is to tame, this thing offers incredible value to any tribe that has one.

Seen a few in the swallow waters around herbivore island, seems to be a common spawn point for them

To find this wonderful creature, it has a chance to spawn near the Cnidaria. So if you find the jellyfish, you just might be lucky enough to find yourself one of these bad boys. Passive tame using superior kibble or Bio Toxin. Obviously the kibble will take less time, but use what you got.

Baby Archelon in ARK: Survival Ascended must be raised in water to survive and primarily eat Biotoxin to thrive. While they can consume Mejoberries once they reach the juvenile stage, Bio-Toxin is highly recommended for babies to avoid starvation. They must be submerged in water immediately after hatching to prevent suffocating on land.
