Tips & Strategies
One of the best tames in the game. Tame one immediately. They are an incredible underwater tank, and are decently fast. They turn on the spot in water, and can crawl and live on land. They are immune to jellyfish and eels, and they can harvest biotoxin better than anything. After killing a jellyfish they gain and attack buff that makes it incredibly strong. Its saddle is an infinite oxygen tank, meaning you can never run out of air with it. Its saddle also holds four people so you only need one to do underwater stuff with your tribe. The algae it produces is a herbivore equivalent for mutton, meaning you have something better than crops to take herbivores with if you aren’t at kibble tier. Its algae can also be used in a recipe to make algae sushi, the only thing in the vanilla game that can restore lost taming effectiveness. It’s a passive tame with Biotoxin and can be tamed very early on and very easily. However it only eats biotoxin, including babies, and babies have to be grown underwater or else they will suffocate on land while babies. Tame as soon as you can, these things are one of the best in the game, by far the best aquatic tame.
You can raise babies using their algae.
Tame four or more high level Archelons, cryo them for a few days then release them and level them up in food only. Put them in water and harvest the Algae until you have 40+ stacks in a fridge. You should be harvesting almost two stacks per hour (@x1) . Breed them for eggs and incubate the eggs using a gigantoraptor. Hatch the eggs and immediately drop the baby then cryo it and release underwater. Manually feed them the Algae unit the hit juvenile. Then feed them Mejoberries from troughs.
Breeding tip babies either need to be in a gigaraptor saddle or in the water or their health plummits very fast by 0.1 growth. Sorry for the category as I didn't know where to put this under.
They will eat berries after taming
To find this wonderful creature, it has a chance to spawn near the Cnidaria. So if you find the jellyfish, you just might be lucky enough to find yourself one of these bad boys. Passive tame using superior kibble or Bio Toxin. Obviously the kibble will take less time, but use what you got.
Seen a few in the swallow waters around herbivore island, seems to be a common spawn point for them
Raising Archelon needs to be done in water. Also they're bugged similarly to when snow owls came out. They eatt berries and eat more and faster then a baby giga. If you thought you could walk away, you were wrong.
The first one I saw was on Lava Island on the Center, it was a 140 and I used it to perfectly tame a high level Pyromane because it's so slow and has a high health pool.
Passive tame. They like to spawn around jellyfish, so take a bary or basilo (your best bet). On center they are in the open water near skull island/redwoods. Superior kibble is really easy to make so just use that --AK
Chomp a Cnidaria for an attack buff, similar to the Megatherium bug buff.
Once buffed clearing the water caves and/ or Alphas is a breeze on these.
When tamed, these guys are amazing at getting biotoxin as they can’t be stunned much like basilosaurus. They also are super useful as the algae that generates in their inventory (more effectively while in water) can be used as taming food for herbivores at similar effictiveness as mutton. Archelon is also good at gaming tusos or ceratosaurus due to their super high health and abundance of higher quality saddles in drops
Just like a basi tame. Clear the area and feed superior kibble. Taming on 1x bring about 25 you should be able to tame any high level. (30 just to be safe)
Works great as an underwater transport unit, as it has a high base weight, decent movement speed and immunity to Cnidaria and Eels
Tamed Archelon in water produce Algae, which can be used as mutton for herbivores or to make Algae Sushi, a consumable item that can be remotely used on creatures to restore lost taming effectiveness
