Tips & Strategies

What are tips for ankylosaurus? Tips and strategies for ankylosaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Transport advice:
Get an argy with decent weight and stamina. It has an ability that allows it to carry the anky (Yes, it still counts the weight the ankys carrying to its weight)
THE ANKY HAS 85% WEIGHT REDUCTION ON METAL AND NOTHING ELSE. Make sure stuff like obsidian, stone, and crystal are loaded onto the argy because it has a 50% weight reduction on those.
Great for metal. You don't actually need the saddle to go on a mining expedition. As far as I know it only works for the metal concentrated rocks with gold veins on them (can be found on mountains mostly), but you can whistle move them (with the green arrow) towards the rock and they auto-harvest. Game can be finicky and not have the anky do it if it decides the metal is in a weird spot, but a great way to get lots of metal for early metal items before you can unlock the saddle.
A handy guide to utility tames:
Achatina- Mainly found in swampy areas. Tame with sweet veggie cake. After tame, produces lots of CP and Org Poly when set to wander.
Anglerfish- found in deep oceans, the anglerfish is relatively hard to tame. It doesn’t require a saddle, and gathers huge quantities of silica pearls
Anky- Found in a plethora of different places. Look in snow, mountain, jungle, desert, etc. A relatively easy knockout tame, the anky is wonderful at gathering metal.
Argentavis- Found in mountains, snow, or desert biomes mainly. Another relatively easy tame, reduces weight for many useful materials. With high weight capacity, they are useful for transporting items or creatures. They also have a smithy in their saddle. Also, on a sadder note, Dilos got into my breeding buIdling and killed my best female 😢
Beelzebufo- Found in swamps mainly. A very easy tame, can gather cementing paste from insects.
Castoroides- Found in swampy areas, some snow biomes, and rivers/lakes. Not the easiest tame, but not to hard. When tamed, they gather wood like a pro! They have a smithy saddle.
Direbear- Found in redwoods and snow biomes. Lives alongside dangerous creatures, making it tricky to tame, but once tamed, it’s like a metal sickle that gathers 5x the fiber
Doedicurus- Found in redwoods, mountains, snow, desert, volcano. A relatively easy tame, although if it takes too much damage, it will roll up, drastically increasing the torpor it takes. Once tamed, it is a beast at gathering obsidian and stone
Dunkleosteus- Difficult tame thanks to its heavy armor. An oceanic tame, they are the anky/Doedic of the sea, gathering large amounts of metal and stone
Karkinos- found in Aberration and Val and CI and Genesis. in my opinion, these are utility tames. They are difficult to tame due to the fact that you can’t use normal tranquilizers. Once tamed, they can carry a maximum of two creatures. Carrying doedics or ankys in their claws can be a very efficient way to get metal.
Mammoth- Found in snow. Not too hard to tame, and gathers wood very effectively!
Moschops- found on beaches and forests. can harvest many different materials effectively. You can choose which materials your Moschops can harvest better
Quetzal-very hard tame, but doable, especially with a tribe. Has astounding weight and is great for transport!
Snow Owl- Easy knockout tame found in extinction snow biome. When tamed, can heal other creatures and is a great travel mount.
Therizinosaurus- Challenging tame found in jungles. Can gather wood, thatch and fiber quite well.
Thorny Dragon- Easy tame found in deserts. A good tame for gathering wood on SE, a map lacking many normal wood gatherers.
Hope u liked! Pls 🆙 the tip. Have a nice day! 😀
Shoot it in the face whilst going backwards there to slow to reach you when it runs away go in front of it and carry on shooting it in the face with tranqs.
Just back up with a lot of rocks and with at least 4 different slingshots (of taming a level 95-155) and start shooting at it that's what I do
1. Get tranq arrows and a crossbow
2. Find an anky of your desire
3. Shoot it in the head while walking backwards (they're slow so you can just walk while shooting)
4. When it runs away chase after it and shoot it
5. It'll be knocked out.
6. Feed it recommend food and any narcos if needed.
7. Congratulations!
They get about 3x more metal than you! And depending on the level they can easily kill Raptors and other small predators.
They're found almost everywhere
Beaches, highlands, chalk hills, green forest, I've even see some near desert.
If you wanna kill one get a pike or a few spears, stab it in the head while walking backwards then after a few seconds boom it's killed
First ankys are good at gathering metal but you sill get a set amount of metal from a node. 220% is fine anything more than points in that is a waste. People have for years not understood that.
Second keep all the metal on your anky never transfer while mining. Ankys have reduced weight carrying ore whatever dino you use to carry the anky with dont transfer the ore.
Third its better to have a low level anky and low level argent than no anky at all.
Fourth the best place to get metal by far is abberation using crabs to carry your anky you can get tens of thousands of metal ore in 30 minutes its just insane.
Fifth again anything over 220% melee is a waste in skill points I would recommend 220% melee the rest HP a dead anky isnt good to anyone.
Thats my experience in around 4k hours all solo pvp official player trust me I know!!!
If you're breeding Ankys 100 berrys last 19:32
So you got enough time for a poo

Ankylosaurus-
Ah yes… while lookin like a endgame creature! It is infact a starter creature! It’s strong but slow. With also a large health pool. I think slowness is worth it! But you can pair them with many creatures like argentavis!
Taming Food-
I recommend using Mejoberries if you are just starting playing on the map. I recommend if you can do regular kibble!
Taming-
Slingshots possible! But not recommended! Use tranq darts or arrows! But use darts if it’s high level! Do not use darts on low levels!

They spawn in mountainous areas and in the snowy regions but you'll probably end up taming one at herbivore island so here's how to tame:
Get a crossbow and tranq arrows, shoot it while backpedaling until it's knocked out, then feed it berries while watching its torpor bar until its tamed
Pump melee granted your going to encumber faster but the metal you get out of a rock is higher
There was a island on the island south east of the main island I called it anky island because it was the first spot I saw an anky
Sadly the anky does not have the ability to swing at rocks when held by an argy in Ark ultimate mobile edition(though for some reason the doed does have it). But they are still very good for gathering metal and other stuff! One way í do it is bro grabbing the anky with my argy, or just putting it in a cryopod. Then, I go to a metal-rich rock and manually gather the metal. It is still quite the same thing and it will still guarantee a ton of metal. Hope this tip helped!!
These can spawn alone or up to packs of 3 in mountains or at herbivore island, in the snowy biome they will always spawn in a pack of 2. Note this if you are trying to find them to tame.
