I was climbing the mountain in the redwood forest, and I could hear the gargle noises these guys make, but I couldnβt find them. I spent about five minutes looking around the mountain for them.
Turns out there were two of them staring down at me from the summit. I wasnβt in their aggro range yet, they just happened to spawn facing downwards, like they were watching me. It was the funniest thing I had seen in this game in a while.
Long story short, I tamed one of them and named him Watcher. I love these dinosaurs so much.

The best way to find these for taming is to simply build a base, guaranteed they will spawn inside.
