An Ankylosaurus is a strong metal harvester; once its melee is sufficient, prioritize weight and health, while Magmasaurs, mining drills, and striders can also be effective alternatives. Use an Argentavis to carry an Anky between rich mountain, volcano, or shiny/gold-colored rock deposits, and consider a platform Paracer or raft setup to transport additional creatures and ore. Herbivore Island is a safer early-game destination with metal, while more dangerous regions require better preparation. Smelt the ore in refining forges and work toward an industrial forge to process large hauls more efficiently.
