Secret to Ark is north zone three. Not to dangerous but full of metal and tames

Best way to get this item for early game on The Island.

Head to Red Peak (check map if unfamiliar) and there should be just a little bit of metal at theta to get you started. I’d recommend a flight tame but beware for thyla’s as they perch up in the redwood trees so fly above the forest to counter them or they will knock you off your saddle. For the new lost island look between the scutters inlet mountains there will be no Dinos there to kill you

Best metal strat

-Harvest metal with magmasaur

-Store it in a gasbags

-Pick it up with a wyvern, and for some reason the wyvern is barely weighted down.

I encumbered a gasbags using this it’s so busted

Go find rocks by the sea or a river they give you up to 2-4 metal or find shiny rocks at mountains or turn your harvest multipler up in menu

If you’re returning to ark like me then don’t waste time on an anky in single player or unofficial, just get yourself a magma and collect 1000’s of metal with just one hit

Idk why this thing is only .1 higher rating when it gathers 1.5x more

Magmasaurs are better in collecting metal than ankies, but they're only available in Gen 1, so use an anky if you can't get or don't want to get one.

Herbivore island is the safest place to grind out metal, there's 6-7 nodes in top and you don't have to worry about anything unless you wack a bronto. If you're lucky enough to find an island server without a base there it's the perfect spot to build, If you do this be sure to put out a forge and UNLOCK it for community use! Don't pillar the whole island like an idiot... Looking at you "stoned construction"!!!

I am on the new ark mobile and the stones with metal don't spawn again when i mine them and i need metal, help!

Dont use dunkleosteus in ark mobile ocean cause stones in ocean dont drop metal just stones and oil.

I did the calculations, the mining drill gives double the metal that a metal pick does, and magmasaurs give double the metal that mining drills do. I'm pretty sure magma is the best way to get metal, use it if you want 4x the metal you would get with a pick.

U can’t use Dunkleo to farm metal on mobile.Weird

So you need enough iron to never have to go on a damn mining trip again? Very well, tame an argy, an anklyo and at least 3 ravengers, ride the argy and fly the anklyo to a mountain, the ravengers should be able to keep up with you, when you get to the mountain you can mine as much metal as you want, and due to everything you brought having a weight reduction to metal weight won’t be an issue, just don’t give the argy any metal since the anklyo has a higher reduction

Anky wait reduction is somewhat glitched in ark mobile. The weight reduction does not work some times remember SOMETIMES

The best is crab and anky in blue zone on ab skiff can’t get black slot anymore

Okay, so you know those tiny crumbled up rock deposits at the Footpaw? Use a pickaxe (preferably metal) and you will get (not much) a good amount. (Not like 100 or smth.) Hope this helped! Like so new people can see this.
