Lamprey, if you want to get a lot of metal fast, that really depends on your map,

But here's some advice on it:

For Ragnarok find the cave near the ivory crag,

It's hidden behind some stones but if you can fly a certain distance away it'll render the cave entrance but not the rocks,

That cave is chock-full of metal so just place a forge and if you can uncryo a mammoth, if you don't have cryos and mammoths the next best choice would be carry a beaver, that way you can harvest wood from the beach right in front of the entrance to continually fuel the forge and get a whole load of metal.

Also on Ragnarok, if you want lots of quick, safe metal, you could go to Viking bay and follow the beach towards the blue obelisk until you find a huge formation of stones, the biggest dangers around it are dilos and it has plenty of metal around the edges,

Making it perfect for both living in and gathering.
