You can also find element shards in the abyssal depths where long ass skeleton looking thing is. Entrance is close to the swamp biome. You will need scuba gear or some way to maintain oxygen. Not recommended if you have thalassophobia.

In case of gen 2 ues magma its the best, it has a chance to get raw elements each time they hit.

For Crystal Isles, the mining drill does work but it’s very minimal. Tek Stryder is the best since it collects the most and has the best range so you can hit the crystals up high. I collect about 100 element worth in a short run.

If you take a stryder to Crystal isles you can farm about 120 element worth of shards per run on 1x

Use a tek strider it is much better than any other thing on gen 2

An ascendant pick can be better for gathering element shards, than a mining drill or an anky on the magmasaur cave on gen 1

Mining drill does hardly anything. Use the Anky; or, if you have to use equipment, use a metal pick.

Example: mined the same area with each - leveled Anky and journeyman pick do about the same, but mining drill does about 40% less.

If u go to the space biome on genesis 2, one of the rotations has things the same shape as normal crystal nodes but with a hint of purple. Mine these and you will get hundreds of this stuff, and a bit of normal element

Do not use stryder for this one CI. They will no harvest shards. Tried it.

It works on isles just gotta be right crystal but ank is still better
