For kibble, I’m pretty sure anyways, if it is low tier kibble, can not be used to tame anything but high tier kibble can actually replace the worse one. Once again this is just an educated guess.

Remember that, in Ascended, Deinonychus eggs don't work for this kibble anymore. Every tip recommending them is strictly for Evolved.
