Basilosaurus passively makes oil when tamed.
Oil is mostly found in the ice biome and sometimes underwater, Also this is the US i would like to know where u live
I just kill basilosaurus when I find them 24/7 in the ocean and the first time I found one I almost tamed it but. You know what happened..
The basilosaurus dropped taming by 80% so I killed it and only then I realized it gave a ton of oil so. Use megalodons and kill the mantas following basilosaurus’ and kill the basilosaurus after (250+ max)
Also can kill trilobites on the ocean shore for a low amounts
Hope this helps
In the top left corner of the island, you’ll find a large series of icebergs with penguins on them, on the same icebergs are giant oil rocks which you can harvest with a pickaxe. It worked for me and I hope it works for you. :)
If you want, make a trip to the arctic with a Petra and get some oil from rocks.
Tame basilosaurus for passive oil when u get lazy, helps a ton when grinding for other things
Killed a sea sausage and now America wants to know my location
Go to rag ship at vb and kill the sea demons and you will be liberated by america
Killing tek creatures gives you oil.
Whales make a lot of oil just make sure it has plenty of raw FISH meat
If you live in the Arctic or don’t have a water Dino to kill basilos I recommend farming some of the oil nodes in the arctic there are a good amount of them and with an argy and anky you can easily farm lots of oil.
Just get a water creature go underwater with it and there will be oil rocks then you’ll get oil
Basilosaurus oil:
A thick blob oily ink, can be refined into fuel
This can be found in one of the genesis 2 space biome rotations, and is farmed from rocks that look like a 3 year old has tried to paint them black
On Scorched, Valguero, Ragnarok, and Lost Island, Look for oil veins. They can be found in the desert, tundra, and snow biomes. On Abberation look for little black rock. On other maps look underwater or in snow biomes.
You can get oil by killing trilobites near the beaches, there are oil nodes to get oil faster, they are found in the ocean and the north snowy areas, killing a basilosaurus will also give you oil, a tamed basilo can passive gather oil,the limit of gathering is 20.
Ways to get oil early-game:
1. If you spawn on or travel to a snowy biome (if you are ballsy enough) this is an assumption, but there should be rocks that have oil
2. *basilosaurus noises* for some reason i never see anyone get basilos in their ARK playthroughs but they are just americas way to get infinite oil (they produce it passively when tamed) to tame one, just go to the basilosaurus tips tab, its that easy.
3. Oil chunks, usuaally found around E V E R Y W H E R E in the sea and they look like little black chunks with a DNA trail of oil slowly bubbling up, so grab an Itchy, a good damage pick, and start diggin
An easy way to get oil in the sea is to first see the oil at the top of the water and if you follow it you can find oily rocks
Just make a base at the beach, around 45 degrees from the Blue/White Obelisk. The beach has an island and a waterfall nearby. Metal outpost hence oil outpost! You'll get never ending oil rocks. Make a box, keep and anky and a protector dino for your oil runs. If you're like me, you'll end up shifting base to here in late game, plus the Blue/white Obelisk mountain has tons of metal and obsidian and very little carnivore spawns, as they are taken up by argies and dire wolfs which I personally find easier to deal with than others aggressive spawns period. P.S there are Rexes near the beaches not at the mountain though.
Cut some hair, make some fur, then take your rg to the snow to the hundreds of oil nodes. May as well kill some penguins while your at it for their organic poly
