What are tips for oil? Tips and strategies for oil in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
On fjordur above helms deep there is 3 oil veins and some metal and obsidian. Inside helms deep in the very back there is a cave with cave creatures, inside it has crystal and silica pearls. I honestly recommend helms deep for starting out.
Guys, there are three types of oil. The first one is oil collected from rocks and a few creatures that does not spoil. The second one is basilosaurus oil, when you open your basilo’s inventory, you’ll see purple oil. It acts the same as normal oil except it spoils. The third oil is tuso oil. Kill and you get it.
When struggling to find these, i recommend taming a basilo or mass killing basi's with a mosa, it gives 300+ for each basi killed
There's oil on Tek dinos too if I'm not mistaken!
On en trouve aussi sur les dinos Tek normalement!
In some snow caves there are oil rocks and i will just go with a pick and get all the oil i want. I know there are caves with oil on rag but i am not sure about other places
The easiest way is from killing trilobites (the horseshoe crab guys) but to get more, go to the icebergs up north and you’ll find oil deposits just sitting there. Penguins are also found up there, and they drop lots of prime meat and organic polymer, so a trip up north may be worth it for mid game resource farming
Does anyone know how to make gasoline ?
Is it just me or you can’t collect oil with a chainsaw?
2 oil vein/node things on Fjordur at 85.8,43 on a little island down at the bottom of the map (:
Basilosaurus passively makes oil when tamed.
On Scorched, Valguero, Ragnarok, and Lost Island, Look for oil veins. They can be found in the desert, tundra, and snow biomes. On Abberation look for little black rock. On other maps look underwater or in snow biomes.
I just kill basilosaurus when I find them 24/7 in the ocean and the first time I found one I almost tamed it but. You know what happened..
The basilosaurus dropped taming by 80% so I killed it and only then I realized it gave a ton of oil so. Use megalodons and kill the mantas following basilosaurus’ and kill the basilosaurus after (250+ max)
Also can kill trilobites on the ocean shore for a low amounts
Hope this helps
If you want, make a trip to the arctic with a Petra and get some oil from rocks.
Tame basilosaurus for passive oil when u get lazy, helps a ton when grinding for other things
Basilosaurus oil:
A thick blob oily ink, can be refined into fuel
Go to rag ship at vb and kill the sea demons and you will be liberated by america
Farming trilobite on the shores of crystal Isles is an easy early game way of getting oil
A safe (albeit cumbersome) way is to just tame a male and female hesperornis, breed a group of female offspring, and have them constantly lay eggs. Hesperornis eggs when cooked in the cooking pot gives oil
In the top left corner of the island, you’ll find a large series of icebergs with penguins on them, on the same icebergs are giant oil rocks which you can harvest with a pickaxe. It worked for me and I hope it works for you. :)
You can get oil by killing trilobites near the beaches, there are oil nodes to get oil faster, they are found in the ocean and the north snowy areas, killing a basilosaurus will also give you oil, a tamed basilo can passive gather oil,the limit of gathering is 20.
