Chapter 6: ~Doctor Nightshade~
The group fled through the icy forest, they didn’t know where to go but they knew they had to get away. Unfortunately, there was no escape when they stumbled into a clearing, facing them was a giant rock wall that towered up and up before sloping into the peak of one of the mountains. A massive fortress made of crude scrap metal was stuck to the side of it, massive garages, apartments, workshops, and a kitchen made up the base. From the summit down to the highest floor of this structure there was sunlight, but below that dwindled into dusk. The snowy ground before them was littered with creatures, a gruff lot, matted fur, scars, robotic appendages. These were the same as Ras’s caravan. Ryker’s gang.“Intruders! Get them!” A direbear with a missing eye shouted. The group turned but a dozen veilwyn jumped out of portals behind them, and the faster creatures closed the circle. There was no escape. Except for Lagoon, the enemy hadn’t drove their vehicles with their harpoons out yet, she decided some of them getting captured was better than all of them. She soared up and away from the structure, with the creatures who couldn’t handle walking in the snow, namely, Ron, Skyla, Jaxz, the sea serpents, and Stainly who had been hiding in his house in a large cupboard for some time now. “We’ll come back for you I promise!!” Ron shouted to the others. “NASH GET OUT OF THERE!” Skyla shouted, but Nash had already been pinned down by a chalicotherium and couldn’t escape with them. Bones raged and started to thrash through the gang’s forces, until a red Carcharodontosaurus charged at him, grabbed his neck and throwing him to the ground, he growled and snapped back at her, grasping her leg and standing up in the same motion, this pulled her leg out from under her and she fell, but quickly stood again, now both of them were enraged eyes glowing, Bones couldn’t think straight and went in full force, the carchar however was still calm, but she was faster than Bones ever thought a massive theropod like her could be, she dodged his brutish charge with a sidestep and bashed into his side as he ran past her, he toppled to the ground, his eyes returning to normal, but she wasn’t finished, she grabbed his neck. “D- YU- YLD-?” She roared, her mouth full of his neck. “Huh?!” He snapped. She choked harder, “DO YOU YEILD!” She said clearer. He didn’t want to, but he didn’t have a choice, he weakly kicked his leg a few times. She released, blood starting to flow from gashes in his neck, turning the snow red. “Get some healers over here.” The carchar said. A few smaller creatures rushed to Bones’s neck to examine the damage, while the carchar limped off to get her leg checked. The rest of the group was led into one of the garages attached to the megastructure, except this one didn’t hold any vehicles. it was more like an examination room. Inside were multiple tables and strange equipment. “Is the doc in?” Asked a castoroides. The garage door was open and nobody was inside. Or so they thought, two white eyes opened from a dark corner of the garage. The creature was tall, and as it walked out into the light they could see it, a therizinosaurus, she was a bright grey color and both hands were prosthetic, the long claws replaced with strange “tools” such as a saw, a magnifying glass, a needle with a vial of some sort of yellow liquid inside, and a pencil of all things.
“Are these my.. patients.” She said peering her long neck over to the group. “Aye, they are.” The beaver said. “So many of you.” She said with a chuckle, “so many tests…” she said In a strange eerily enthusiastic tone, “come, come, all of you go sit in the waiting area, except… you.” She said pointing at Nash. They reluctantly obliged. “Now you, go sit there.” She said pointing her pencil finger to a cold metal table. Nash flinched when he saw the stains on the table. “What exactly are you going to do..” Nash asked worriedly. “Just a check up.” The theri said suspiciously. They reluctantly obliged others all sat in the chairs across the room, they were ready to attack if need be, but they probably couldn’t fight their way out. It was a last resort. Nash slowly crawled onto the table, it was like ice. “Now, do you have any pains?” She asked. “Uhh, my right wing is a bit sore after that brute tackled me out there.” Nash said. “No problem, let’s have a look.” She gently took his wing in her claws, and began looking it over. “So, does the doctor have a name?” Nash asked. “Nightshade.” The doctor said without looking away from her work. “It is quite bruised, could use some medicine.” She stood straight, raising one of her claws, the three long tool claws went backwards towards her forearm and then a smaller mechanical hand with fingers and a thumb folded out of her metal palm, she held up her other arm and extended the claw with the needle, the mechanical hand grabbing the claw by the vial part on the syringe and flicking the glass so to liquid inside would shake. “Do not worry, it merely numbs the pain.” She said. Nash’s face went pale and his eyes wide looking at the huge needle, she pointed outside the garage and said “look a bulbdog!” In a slightly louder whisper than her usual quiet voice. Nash looked outside immediately, and felt a sharp jab in his wing. He looked back to see doctor Nightshade pull down the pins on the syringe and inject the fluid into Nash’s wing. It almost immediately numbed it. Then she gently applied some cream onto the wound with a strange silicone spatula sort of claw attachment. “Is that all?” She said. “I-I think so.” Nash said. “Who’s next then?” She asked.
