Day 1 of Aberration
Day 135 of the Journey
5:28 PM.
Sodden’s eyes shot open, gasping for air. His back lay on a cold, hard metal floor. He felt slightly sore, and weirdly light. He lifted his head to see that his armor was gone, and so was his bag. He sat up to look at his back, and discovered the bag he had was empty.
“What… where’d the stuff go? Where am I?” Sodden said quietly. He slowly stood up, his legs shaking a little bit. He was panting, then he turned around slowly. There were strange arcs of metal over him, and there were a few just south of him. He assumed this was the green zone region of the Ark, as Serenity told him about, but he had no idea what the arcs were. He looked at his implant, and he opened the tribe logs. He assumed he lost his stuff when he crashed. But when he looked at the top of the tribe logs, he found something shocking. Sodden gasped. He saw the message, “You were scorched to death by the sun!” And that’s when he realized: he didn’t crash into the cave. He landed on the surface during the day and died instantly thanks to the radiation. This meant all his items, Reaper, and his weapons were on the surface.
“Oh, no. That’s bad. The others definitely saw the message. Serenity isn’t in the tribe, though, so she wouldn’t have seen it.” Sodden whispered. Then he heard quiet growling, and he looked up and gasped.
“Raptors. I gotta get out of here.” Sodden gasped. He turned to the open zone and ran away from the metal podium he spawned on. The raptors were in a bush, looking for food. They did not notice Sodden. Sodden ran hard towards a small cliff, where many tall trees stood, and looked down to see a large lake in the distance.
“Okay, I just need to get stuff set up. And not die too much.” Sodden said. He walked around the cliff dropoff until he saw a stable path that went downwards, and he walked down the path, then he walked to a small tree near the bottom. He then looked at his implant, which was glowing green on the rings and dim blue in the center. It was his second ascension implant. He then looked around the place, and he realized he had no idea where everyone was.
“Guys! Guys, you around?” Sodden shouted as he walked around the forest. Then he heard a explosion in the distance.
BOOM! Sodden looked up and turned around, to see a flare rising up into the sky far south of Sodden’s position. Sodden ran south, away from the portal he had spawned near and towards a river valley south of him.
Somewhere in the blue zone…
Dorack gasped for air as his eyes shot open. He stood quickly, and looked around, and Serenity had gotten up too, groaning. “We’re here.” Dorack said. Serenity took a deep breath.
“Been a while since I’ve been here. I like this place, actually. It’s beautiful. Just like me. It’s the perfect place for just chilling. Well, if you have a good base set up, that is. There’s a lot of dangerous creatures here.” Serenity said. The two began walking away from the surface entrance they went through, and walked through a massive chamber that led to the open underground of Aberration. But as they walked, Dorack got a notification on his implant. He looked at it, and gasped when he saw what it was. It was a death message. “Oh, no. That’s not good.” Dorack said. Serenity turned around.
“What happened?” Serenity asked.
“Sodden died. That’s what. He must’ve landed on the surface. Oh, my god. That’s not good. His items will be up there and he’s not gonna have any levels. We’ll just have to hope we find him soon.” Dorack said. Serenity gasped.
“Oh, my god. Okay, we should go.” Serenity said. The two then kept walking through the tunnel, then they rose from it, and gasped loudly. There were large blue plants speckled across the ground, mushrooms all over the place, and bioluminscent plants everywhere on the walls and ground.
“We’re in the blue zone? If everyone landed in the green zone, we’re very far away from everyone.” Dorack said loudly.
“Not good. Okay, let’s just get our weapons.” Serenity said. Dorack nodded. Dorack took a shotgun out of his bag, while Serenity took a sword out of her bag.
“Okay, what creatures do we have that are usable here?” Dorack said. Serenity shrugged.
“I don’t think we have any. I do have the other raptor, but it’s pretty low level.” Serenity said. Dorack sighed.
“It might just have to do.” Dorack said. Serenity took a cryopod out of his bag, and threw it at the ground, releasing a raptor. The first raptor they tamed at SE, a low level. Dorack and Serenity got on it, then the raptor roared as it tried to walk, but it was straining.
“Ugh. We’re too heavy! We might just have to go on foot.” Dorack said. The two survivors got off, and Serenity put the raptor back in the cryopod. She then put the cryopod in her bag.
“Well, at least we have things to defend ourselves with.” Dorack said. Serenity nodded, then the two survivors began walking towards the mushroom forest in the northwest part of the Ark.
Rod walked out of the cavern he had landed in, and was in the mushroom forest now. He was walking around, he held a hatchet in his left hand, and he walked to a tree. He began striking the tree with his hatchet, then picking up the logs and thatch he got. He looked around the area.
“Guys? Where are you? Guys? Oh, forget it. I’m not even here for them anyway. At least not to help them. Can’t go to the Red Zone, though. I don’t have hazard suits yet.” Rod said to himself. He then shrugged and started walking through the forest, searching for a river or lake he could find, then he came across a lake a few hundred meters away, and he ran towards it, jumping over rocks to get there. After a few minutes, he was at the lake. He sat down near a rock that sat just before the water, on the shore. Rod looked around, then he looked at his implant. He turned on communicators, and made a message. “Dread, I am here. I am in the green zone. I hear your friend is out farming. Don’t let that Sodden idiot see him.” Rod said. He turned off the communicator and sent the message.
Sodden ran through the forest, panting as he went, He kept going south, then he approached some mushrooms and a large cliff. Sodden walked to the cliff and he looked over it. At the bottom of the cliff was a small thatch hut. Then someone walked out of it. “Who’s that?” Sodden asked himself. The person looked nothing like Nal, nor did he look like a high level. The person then walked to a tree then began breaking it down. Then Sodden heard footsteps behind him. They grew louder as they got closer. “Dude, where were you? You must’ve respawned far away.” A voice said. Sodden turned around and Nal was walking to him, with a shotgun resting on her shoulder.
“Yeah, I respawned somewhere north of here. Where’s your base?” Sodden said.
“Haven’t gotten one set up yet. I’m looking for the others. I kinda hope we find them soon.” Nal said. Sodden nodded.
“We’ll find them, don’t worry. Did you see where the others went?” Sodden said. Nal shrugged.
“I think Dorack might’ve gone into a cave entrance somewhere south, but I don’t know exactly where. I think Serenity went with him, but I missed where Rod went.” Nal said.
“Well, we should try to find Dorack and Serenity first. I think we can hold off on finding Rod for now.” Sodden said. Nal nodded.
“Seems like a good plan. Just stick with me, okay? I have an extra weapon for you.” Nal said. Sodden nodded, then the two survivors walked along the cliff edge to find somewhere where they could get off, then they walked down a slope that went down the cliff, then they began walking towards the river.
Near the west part of the map, Dorack and Serenity were walking along a region of the blue zone, the region where they entered, which was called the Overlook. It overlooked the red zone that sat far beneath the edge of the cliffs just south of them. They walked along a path that went up northeast, to get closer to the mushroom forest. As they went, they heard quiet rustling. Dorack turned to the left to see what it was. He saw some bushes shaking, then heard fast footsteps. Serenity gasped and turned around quickly. Then something jumped out. Someone stood in a black robe, with a dark red mask on their face, an shortsword in his left pocket, and a large bag on his back. “Hello, Serenity. We meet again. Where is Rod?” The person said. Serenity gasped and walked closer.
“I remember you. Marison… you’re still here? I thought Dread killed you.” Serenity said.
“He almost did. But I narrowly escaped. Some person named Sunhigh, kind of a weird name, met me and helped me. I left their base and hid away here, in the green zone, waiting for the day you came back.” Marison said in a gruff voice. Serenity gasped.
“The Aberration Kingdom? They’re here? That means…” Dorack gasped in shock. Marison turned to Dorack and walked to him quickly.
“And tell me your name and purpose in this Ark.” Marison growled. “Uh… I’m Dorack, and I’m here to… help some friends get to Extinction.” Dorack said. Marison gasped in shock.
“You’re trying to go for the Assassin Heart? You are a fool if you think you can really get through that barrier.” Marison sneered. Dorack stammered, thinking of an answer.
“We have a plan. Kinda… maybe you can help us?” Dorack asked. Serenity chuckled and walked to Dorack, then grabbed his arm and looked up at Marison.
“Hey, so this is one of my buddies, and if you could let me talk to him for just one second…” Serenity said, then pulled Dorack away. Marison scoffed and walked the other direction. Serenity stormed over to a tree and threw Dorack against the tree.
“I don’t think you understand my history in this Ark. When I was here, a lot of complex things happened. Dread… he’s an evil man. Marison is the only reason I even made it back to the Island in the first place. Dorack… can you stay out of the way of my other friends? Just so that we can have as much peace and tranqulity here as possible?” Serenity asked. Dorack leaned against the tree, brushing off some bark and dirt off his back and legs.
“Dude… is something wrong?” Dorack asked, confused. Serenity sighed.
“Sorry… I just… This place brings me terrible memories. I was so traumatized from what Rod did that since then, Aberration has been a nightmare for me. I thought I’d be fine here now, but I guess not.” Serenity said. Dorack sighed.
“I get that. I went through the same thing in Snowball. It impacts me hard all the time. I hate the snow cave, and so does Nal. It was terrifying being there because we almost lost everything so many times. But… we will try to ignore it. Just forget it. It is in the past. Do not let the trauma hold you back. Okay?” Dorack asked. Serenity nodded slowly.
“Makes sense.” Serenity said quietly. Dorack then held out his arms and embraced Serenity.
“You’re good now. Okay? You’re with us. We’re not letting Rod or Dread or any of their tribe do anything to you.” Dorack said. Serenity nodded. Then they let go of each other.
“Now why don’t we find the others?” Serenity asked. “NO! What is this guy doing?” A voice called out. Serenity turned around to see Marison standing there, aiming a rifle at Dorack. He pulled the trigger, and a dart soared through the air, then made contact with Dorack’s chest. Dorack gasped in pain and fell over, unconscious. “He’s down. You never know. He could be part of Rock Death.” Marison sneered. Serenity gasped.
“Marison, I know Rod got me almost killed, but you don’t have to do this. He’s not on their tribe, dude.” Serenity said. Marison sighed.
“I didn’t want to have to do this. Come with me. I’m taking you to the Aberration Kingdom. Perhaps the Queen can help you come to your senses.” Marison said. Serenity scoffed.
“What are you saying?” Serenity yelled in anger.
“I’m saying… come with us. I do not trust Sodden. Especially not after what he did to one of my minions a few months back.” Marison said. Serenity gasped.
“You… you know him?” Serenity said in shock. Marison nodded.
“Not in person, but I’ve heard of his intentions. I feel like he and the others associate with Rod. If this is true, you are in danger with them.” Marison said. Serenity scoffed and shook her head.
“No. I can’t tell them. Rod would kill me if he caught me telling them the truth. While I was impregnated, Rod swore to me during the Ravage Battle that if I told anyone the truth, he’d kill me on the spot. I can’t tell anyone what he’s done.” Serenity said, then she let out a gasp of pain, and fell forward. A dart was pinched deep in her back. Someone came from behind.
“She’s annoying. She does not know.” The person growled. Marison chuckled.
What the heck?
The sun went down. The fires across the ground began to dissipate. Then Sodden’s bag shook. As it fell off his corpse, ripped up and broken, something whooshed. Something clattered and fell out of the bag, then opened. It was a cryopod, and Reaper came out of it. Reaper growled as she looked around, whimpering in curiosity. She turned around and noticed Sodden’s corpse laying on the ground near her, his implant dim and cold. Reaper screeched loudly and ran at him, worried. She sniffed it, and knew he was dead. Reaper then roared in anger and sadness. She then looked around quickly, and heard footsteps behind her. She looked to the other direction and saw a Reaper King roaring loudly as it ran straight at her. Reaper screeched and ran for one of the cave entrances. She barely outran the Reaper King, but then a seeker swooped down at Reaper and grabbed her back and lifted her up. Reaper screeched loudly, trying to kill the Seeker. After a few minutes of struggling, the seeker flew far south, then dropped Reaper in a small hole. Reaper scrreeched as she descended down the cave of the blue zone/red zone intersection in the far east of Aberration, kilometers away from Sodden and the others. Reaper hit the ground hard, then growled softly, saddened, then her eyes closed and her vision went dark.
What’s going to happen to Reaper?
And who really is this “Marison”?

Tales of Pandora
Origins of Salizar, Chapter 22: ~Salizar’s gambit~
Salizar looked at the once great Fort Olympia. The illustrious but industrial castle loomed before him, the humans were gone and it had been reduced to nothing more than scorched ruins. It was a sight that made him feel victorious, he had accomplished much, but he was not finished yet. The final roar of the Apex dragon could be heard faintly behind him, “and so the Queen is sacrificed, leaving the opposing king vulnerable to checkmate.” Salizar said. He took off his bone mask and threw it aside, he had no use for it any longer. He took his tek eye out of his satchel and fixed it to his face, it hurt slightly as the augment connected to his nervous system. “Ahh, much better.” He said now able to see out of both eyes. “Find him!” He heard Emerald’s voice in the distance. He chuckled, “you won’t.” He said quietly. He started to run on all fours, zigzagging through the rubbles buildings, all the way to the edge of the isle. “Overseer, phase two is a go.” Salizar said. Then he jumped.
When they reached the obelisk, Caesar ran up to the terminal, dodging small bolts of orangish red lightning, small streaks of blue and green were visible as well. he reached the control panel but all he saw was a red button, and a slot where you could put some sort of key. The reddish haze around him made it hard to see, “What is this?! Where is the terminal to shut this down!” He said. Salizar laughed, “You really thought the boss terminal is where I started this?!” He said laughing, “oh Caesar how easy it is to outsmart you and your pitiful gang.” He continued. “Where are you Salizar!” Caesar asked. Salizar atop a mechanical Wyvern rose up from the ledge of the obelisk platform. “Do you like it? It’s called a voidwrym, I pulled it out of a security system for something called the ‘genesis shuttle’” Salizar said. The others were already running up to the terminal, wounded and carrying the dead or injured in the fight against Salizar’s Tek raptor ambush when Salizar spoke again. “Don’t you get it?! That rock drake who told you to come here was lying! I may have put a knife in his throat but he never knew my true intentions.” Salizar said. “He was useful.. I almost don’t want to leave him here, but he served his purpose, just like the others before him.” He said. “You’re insane!” Caesar said. “.. maybe so, but I will survive while you die here.. oh speaking of that you might want to run, we've got about… hmm, an hour before the obelisks begin.” Salizar said. Caesar turned and ran, ignoring Salizars taunts and laughter, he shouted to his allies to flee and they did, leaving Salizar behind. “I should probably get away from here..” he said noticing more bolts of colored lightning flashing down on the terminal. He flew away and toward the floating isle, he flew underneath the island and reached the Tek cave’s gate. His voidwrym scuttled forward a little and the gate opened, just long enough to let Salizar and his mount inside. They tore through the tek cave’s creatures, Salizar was at one point snatched off of his Wyvern by a purlovia, but he finished it off with a blade to the throat, this was quickly becoming his signature move… his voidwrym was unstoppable, decimating even the cave’s mighty giganotosaurus. They finally reached the teleporter and transported up to the starlit sanctuary. Salizar dismounted and entered the control room, the Overseer was waiting for him, it had already got rid of any evidence Salizar had been there, his cryo pod, workbench, Apex’s incubator, everything. All that was there now was a legion of enforcers and drones, lined up and perfectly still. “Just on time sir, the obelisks will activate in T-minus 10 seconds. Salizar walked over to the window and looked down at Pandora. VVVVBBMMMMMM, at that moment the obelisks erupted, pure energy shooting into the ground, with a massive shockwave that sent the trees rearing the obelisks blinding glow illuminated ark with blue, green, and mostly red light.
“Beautiful.” Salizar said, his eyes glowing red from the reflection, “Begin phase three.” He said turning to the Overseer. The overseer turned around to face the small army, one by one they self destructed, creating cyan explosions and sending shrapnel all around the room, the Overseer used it’s hexagons to block debris from hitting Salizar. When all of its forces had exploded the starlit sanctuary looked as if someone had actually fought the overseer there. Just one thing was missing, Salizar snapped his fingers and his voidwrym started blasting beams around the room, creating chaotic scorch marks to sell the staged battle. “Now, begin phase four.” Salizar said. “The selected Arks are already preparing for merge, the voidwryms are beginning procedure to start construction.” The Overseer said. “Good, now let’s get on with it.” The Overseer glowed green for a moment and then back to cyan. It had wiped any knowledge of Salizar’s plan from its mind except what it was instructed to tell Caesar, if he should survive and make it here. Then the Overseer itself exploded, shattering into a few large pieces, the detonations were perfectly placed so they wouldn’t compromise any important functions that the Overseer would require to complete its objective. Then, the portal gate to the left of the room opened, and Salizar turned back to look at Pandora once more, the trees were gone, reduced to ash. And the floating isle crashed down into the boiling sea before his eyes. “And so, the Rook takes the king. and the game is won” He marched towards the portal the voidwyrm following him. He had won this game, but it wasn’t over.
