Chapter 8: Twinkle Twinkle

“No, no! I have to—”
He lunged his hands forward toward the animal’s neck.
Nova’s eyes shot open. She sat up and kicked at Borealis, making him trip and hit his back on the grass. He let out a yell. Nova shot up from the ground, scooping the dodo bird up in her arms. The dodo bird squawked in disapproval at the man. Panting slightly, Nova could only ask,
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Nova laughed. “You didn’t think I was actually asleep, did you? Why would I sleep tight with someone like you around?”
Borealis snarled like a fox and lunged for the dodo again, but Nova simply stepped to the side. Borealis stumbled forward again, looking back with a sneer.
“We need food,” Borealis declared, lying about his true motives, “Pitiful bird has no purpose. Best we cut it down now to save it the pain.”
“Borealis, please!” Neddy cried out, “I— we collected meat already. We don’t have to kill the bird.”
“It’s for our betterment, Neddy. It must be done”
A bright, blue-green light suddenly burst from the dodo’s chest. Borealis’ eyes widened, and Neddy and Ruby seemed just as surprised. The dodo bird whimpered, its legs shaking as it curled up into a ball in Nova’s arms.
“Look at what you’ve done,” Nova glared. “This was all completely unnecessary. The little guy doesn’t even have any meat on his bones.”
“The dodo glowed just now,” Neddy muttered in awe. The trees in the forest rustled some more. A few more Microraptors clambered up the branches, watching the group carefully. There were at least ten now. Ruby looked back at the others with a grim look.
“We’ve got trouble!” Ruby screamed. Borealis finally snapped out of his daze, looking at her in worry.
“What is it now?” Borealis asked, his voice shaking slightly from his failed attempts to capture the bird.
“We’ve got a pack of Microraptors here. They’re just… watching us. I don’t know what they’re planning,” Ruby observed, drawing her bow and loading an arrow onto the string.
“Microraptors? How many of them are there?” Neddy questioned, standing up from the campfire.
“Ten… oh, crap, another three just showed up. There’s thirteen.”
Nova drew her own bow. “Are they dangerous?!”
“Why are we asking a question like that! Knowing this place, of course they are, we gotta go—” Neddy was cut off when the chitters of the microraptors made their way to the graduates’ ears. There was a blur in the air, and a gray, feathered, ugly protobird dived toward Ruby’s face. Ruby let out a groan as she was knocked backwards, her head spinning. She clutched her temple tight as the microraptor circled, letting out a squeal at her. A few more microraptors flew down, perching on Ruby and pecking at her skin.
“NO!” Neddy shouted, rushing forward, “Get off her!”
Neddy kicked at the first microraptor. It let out a shriek as its leg snapped against the tree. The other microraptors turned their heads toward him.
“Uh oh.”
PEW! Nova fired an arrow at one of the microraptors. Surprisingly, it struck it right in the chest. It let out a squeal and collapsed to the ground in a pool of its own blood. Giant, arm-sized dragonflies trickled in from the forest, settling on the corpse and eating at it. A few began nipping at the remaining microraptors. A dragonfly was snapped in half by the jaws of one of the microraptors. The microraptors that were still perched from the trees flew down and began striking the rest of the dragonflies.
“Ah…” Ruby winced again, cracking her neck. “Okay. Let’s get out of here.”
THWACK! Before Ruby could react, another microraptor stunned her with a swing at the head. Borealis roughly grabbed Nova’s arm and began to run away with her in tow.
“HEY! Let me go, you f*cking…” Nova hooked her bow and slammed her fist into Borealis’ strong arm, but he was barely affected. Nova’s shoes skidded against the grass as the black-robed man fled the area, running downhill.
Ruby slowly got up from the ground, but she had a groggy look on his face.
“I don’t… feel so good,” Ruby muttered. Neddy looked at Ruby worryingly.
“Ruby?”
Thud. Ruby fainted, collapsing to the ground. SNAP! The last microraptor disappeared into a microraptor’s mouth. The pack all turned their heads to the unconscious Ruby, approaching slowly but surely.
“Ruby! Look out!” Neddy cried as the birds closed in, “Darn it Ruby! What do I do?”
The dodo bird squawked behind Neddy. Looks like it was left behind. Neddy gulped loudly. The odds didn’t appear to be in his favor at the moment. The only thing close by was the bow on Ruby’s back… and the glasses he’d lended. Neddy picked the bow up, snatching an arrow from her quiver and pulling the string back.
“Fine,” Neddy said. “Bring it on, you filthy creatures!”
The dodo bird squawked meekly.

Borealis looked back as they were running away and noticed the situation Ruby had gotten herself into.
“Neddy! You pathetic boy! You need me! If you know what’s right for your life, you will abandon the woman and reconvene with us!” Borealis warned him.
But Neddy didn’t respond to Borealis’ words. He stopped in his tracks, still holding onto Nova’s arm tightly.
“Stupid, stupid boy… he gains a moral conscience now of all times? Perfect. Perfect. And now I have nobody under my command…” Borealis swore under his breath. Nova shot a look at him. She hadn’t been able to catch on what he said.
“Uh, hello, earth to Borealis?” Nova demanded, “You going to let go of me now, bastard?”
Borealis gritted his teeth, sprinting further down the plateau.
“HEY! Let me go, you weirdo! If you aren’t going to help, at least let me go back for TWINKLE!”
“Who’s Twinkle, hm?” Borealis grinned. “The dodo bird? Why should I let you go, then? A good leader does not let his subordinates run headfirst into death.”
“I never wanted to be a part of your team, jackass. Now let. Me. Go—”
“You’ll listen to me very carefully,” Borealis hushed her, coming to a pause in his steps. They were at the beaches now. The water from the waves of the ocean splashed onto the two as Borealis looked Nova in the eye. There were no creatures except those weird Lystrosaurus in sight, and there were a barren amount of bushes. No place for anything to ambush them.
Even though they were the same height, Borealis tried looking down on Nova. It wasn’t exactly working though.
“I have an ultimatum for you, Nova,” Borealis said confidently, his eyes glinting with purpose. “You agree to work under me without question, and we shall both return to aid your precious Twinkle. I suppose the other two can also be considered into the equation. Otherwise… We will stay here. We will not return. And they will perish.”
Nova looked at the rising sun. It was finally fully above the horizon. Its warm rays made Nova take a deep breath in…
Deep breath out.
Borealis placed a hand on Nova’s shoulder. Nova shuddered when Borealis let out a rough cackle. It was as if he was forcing a laugh.
“Choices, choices, choices, Nova,” Borealis stated, “Time’s ticking, Nova. Your friend has not much time left. So… what will it be?”
“Your little bird, or your pride?”

Chapter 8: Little Star

“TAKE THIS!” Aurora screamed as she slammed her spear into the dodo.
Thwack.
“What the?!”
Samuel’s eyes were wide open, and his hand was gripping the spear’s shaft so tightly that his veins were bulging. A bead of sweat dripped down from Samuel’s forehead into the moist grass.
“What are you doing?” Samuel asked, “You and Neddy’s screaming woke me up, you don’t think I was actually asleep do you?”
Aurora snarled like a wolf and tried to overpower his strength and kill the dodo anyway, but she couldn’t.
“Just let me kill it!” Aurora screamed, “WE NEED FOOD!”
“Aurora, please!” Ruby cried out, “Stop screaming! I- Neddy and I have meat! I killed a, a pegomastock, or something, when we were searching for firewood!”
“I don’t care! I want that pest dead!”
A bright, orange-red light suddenly burst from the dodo and everyone gasped. The dodo bird squawked at Aurora angrily, and Samuel began to chuckle.
“I think she’s scoldin’ ya, Aurora,” Samuel chuckled.
“Is NOBODY going to mention the glow coming from her chest?!” Ruby exclaimed.
“AHHHHH! NO TIME TO QUESTION ANYTHING!” Neddy screamed. He began to run up to the three in a panic, and Samuel raised his eyebrow in surprise.
“Wow Neddy, you got yourself some clothes, finally,” Samuel smirked.
“Shut up Samuel… There’s dinosaurs in the bushes, and they have glowing orange eyes!” Neddy said as he gasped for air.
“Do you know what they are? Aren’t you like a dinosaur geek or something?!” Samuel said, a look of worry plastered on his face.
“I don’t FREAKIN’ know! But it’s watching us right now!” Neddy shouted back.
Samuel snatched Aurora’s spear away and got up from the ground.
“Why the hell didn’t you tell us earlier?! We gotta bounce right now-” Ruby was cut off when the growls of the orange-eyed beasts made their way to the graduates’ ears. There was a blur in the air, and a gray, hairy, ugly creature pounced on Neddy’s back. Neddy let out a shrill scream, and he collapsed to the ground. The orange-eyed beast dug its teeth into his neck, and before it could tear off his flesh, Samuel swung his spear and hit the creature, making it fly away into the grass. Samuel threw the spear and it ended up hitting it right in the heart, causing blood to pour out into the grass. Samuel noticed giant, arm-sized ants pour out from the forest and drag the body away.
“Okay we need to run!” Neddy said as he got up and brushed the dirt off his arms. Samuel’s eyes pierced the forestline, and soon he could see more orange eyes manifest in the darkness.
“I think that creature’s buddies are here,” Samuel pointed out. Aurora grabbed Samuel’s arm and began to run away with him in tow.
“Then stop gawking and let’s get outta here!”
Neddy slowly got up from the ground, but he had a groggy look on his face.
“Guys… I feel a little… Sleepy…” Neddy muttered. Ruby looked at Neddy worryingly.
“Neddy?”
“Oh,” Neddy murmured as he let out a ghastly grin, “Looks like I’m boutta pass out.”
Neddy collapsed to the ground, and his tongue popped out of his mouth and his eyes rolled up to the back of his head.
“Neddy!” Ruby cried as she rushed over to check on him, “Damn it Neddy! What the hell did that thing do to you?!”
Ruby looked at the creatures that had decided to emerge from the bushes. Alone and with no one else to help but a useless dodo bird, the odds definitely weren’t in her favor. Ruby unhooked her bow, mocked her arrow, and aimed at the creatures.
“Damn it, there’s so many of them…” Ruby whispered to herself.
Aurora looked back as they were running away and noticed the situation Neddy had gotten himself into.
“Ruby! Just leave him, he’s not worth dying over!” Aurora screamed out.
Ruby didn’t respond to Aurora’s words, and she let out a muffled scream of inner rage.
“This stupid girl! What is she even fighting for? That bum does nothing but run around butt-naked in his underwear!” Aurora swore under her breath.
“You’re not just gonna leave them, right?” Samuel wondered, “I mean she’s your friend-”
Aurora suddenly began to run, all whilst holding onto Samuel’s arm, and Samuel let out a cry of surprise.
“Hey hold on a minute! Why are you leaving them! WHY ARE YOU LEAVING?! WHAT ABOUT STAR?!”
“Who’s STAR?!” Aurora spat as she dragged Samuel along.
“My dodo bird-”
“Oh for crying out loud your stupid little star is the one who got us in this situation anyway!” Aurora yapped.
“No, YOU are the one who got a little hungry and decided you wanted to eat some bird meat!”
“SHUT UP! You don’t understand what I had to go through at home! The struggles, the smoothies, the salads that I could only eat!” Aurora wept. The moment was silent, and Samuel attempted to speak but Aurora shushed him.
“Shut up, or I’m going to stick my spear into your tongue,” Aurora said.
The two ran down a dirt pathway on the cliffs and ended up on the beaches again. The water from the waves of the ocean splashed onto the two as they ran and ran, and it seemed they were finally safe. There were no creatures except those weird Lystrosaurus in sight, and there were a barren amount of bushes. No place for anything to ambush them.
“Good, we’re finally away from the danger,” Aurora said, as she slowly sat down onto the sand.
But Samuel could only do but look on at the people they’d abandoned, and Star.
“But why was she glowing? It was almost like the implants that the others have… but Star can’t have an implant, right? That makes no sense she’s a creature, not a human like the rest of us,” Samuel pondered. He pried his eyes away from the Star he’d abandoned and to the ocean.
A chuckle came from Aurora, and Samuel felt her hand on his shoulder.
“Guess you’re just like me, Samuel,” Aurora said, “If you really were crazy you’d go running back, but you didn’t.”
“What are you trying to prove?” Samuel asked back, looking at Aurora. Aurora put her left hand out to Samuel.
“Come on, you’re smart and know what needs to be done to survive. Let’s be a REAL team, you and I."
As the illusion of the genesis wore off HLNA sent you to a strange lost island as you landed a small orange creature spread its wings it went up to you as you look around you see a dead artroplura you feed it chitin it seems to befriend you this could be a good start……….

Journey: Chapter 30
Forest quickly turned towards Crimson who was galloping towards him. “We have to do something!! Don’t we?” He Yelled. Crimson sighed as she came to a stop in front of him.
“He said to run, so we should run. We can’t do anything to help anyway, it’s not our fight.” She said, but Forest refused to give up.
“But we have to tr-” “Look Forest, Methuselah said to run and that he’ll find us after. And after seeing that giant thornhead of a leech that he’s fighting. I’m think that he’s right here for us to run.” Crimson said with irritation. But Forest continued to argue with her for a moment until they heard a squawk of a Pteranodon and saw Nightfall running their way.
“Hey come on you guys!!! Do you two not see the GIANT DEATHWORM IN FRONT OF US THAT CAN KILL US WITHOUT TRYING!!!! WE NEED TO GET OUT IF HERE!!” Nightfall squawked in a panic.
“I know! But Forest has it in his featherhead of a brain that we should help out Methuselah fight those things!!” Crimson growled.
“WHAT!?! Are you joking!? Thats like asking a Coel to walk on land!! It’s death!! We need to go, now!!” Nightfall screamed,
“But we can still try. Right? We need him to get back home!” Forest said, Nightfall stared at him with such a face. He then started to say something in several different languages in frustration. Before pausing and a sly smile grew on his face.
“Forest, we can’t save him when we can barely survive here ourselves. We need to go, he’ll come find us. He seems like-”
“Oh shut it you inbred bary!! He’s dead, you’re dead. We’re dead and The other Five guys fries are dead and I’m stuck here!! And this is all his fault!!” Nightfall said pointing at Forest.
“Why is it my fault?” Forest snapped back,
“You brought me here, you got me into this mess!!! And now you want us to help him with a monster that towers nearly everything here!! Yeah, I say it’s your fault we’re in this whole situation!!”
“Hey, watch it you ungrateful little-”
“Oh, shut up you overgrown, and dehydrated Tintoberry. Your just as at fault!! You had to land of all places, a desert!! And you’re horrible, you hothead giga, snaggletoothed ravager, long legged defective croc.” Nightfall screeched, Crimson stared intently on the small dinosaur, ready to pounce him there. Before breathing deeply.
“Nice try, don’t do that again. Your life depends on on it. Now can we please get ou-” she said as she turned away from Nightfall before he went off.
“Don’t do it again? Hatchling, your parents must’ve not taught you well. I’m older than you, which means you need to respect me and can’t tell me what not to do again!! So go eat a leech!! You-” Nightfall started screeching the most obscene things all directed at
Crimson head turned and her eyes were red with anger that Forest had never seen. She slowly turned as Nightfall continued to say obscenely rude things at her and Forest kept looking at Crimson. Forest had never seen her so angry at anything ever before than what he was seeing now.
Forest watched as Crimson got madder and madder as Nightfall continued to bombard her with obscene things. Her eyes slowly disappeared as her pupils dilated to cover her eyes entirely. Her mouth opened and widened until her lower jaw began to throb as her jaws were open to the max. Forest began to see her legs stamping as she was trying to hold back with all her might. But Forest thought that this would only be for a few more seconds before she completely lost it on him.
“Nightfall, are you crazy!! Do you want to die!!” Forest yelled,
“Maybe, but I’m not as crazy as you. Yo can thank me later.” Nightfall said, Forest gave him a confused expression
“Thank You!? For what?”
“Saving your hides!! At least, if I’m right about how you two will react to what happens next.”
Immediately Nightfall began to run and yelled “Come and get me!!! You overgrown salamander!!! Or was it a miniature horse with scales? I can’t tell!!!” as he ran deeper into the dunes, cackling loud and nervously as he did. Forest then saw a blur of red rushing past him as Crimson hissed and began chasing down Nightfall with all her might.
“Nightfall!!! Where are you going!?!” Forest said, but he was getting to far away to hear him.
Forest began to start following both of them. But he heard a noise coming from the fight behind him. Forest turned to see that Methuselah had the Deathworm dead to rights, but as he was about to end the battle, a second one arose from the sands to aid the other in the fight. Taking Methuselah back down into the deep dunes. He then saw Methuselah rise again from the dunes, Forest noticed that Methuselah looked pretty good for fighting the large monster, but the first one had now gotten up. Making the fight turn into a two versus one of gargantuan proportions.
Forest wanted to continue to watch to make sure everything was going to be fine for Methuselah. But he didn’t want Nightfall to get mauled by Crimson before they left this place. He sighed, wishing he could do something to help. But knowing that Nightfall and Crimson were right, they would’ve been casualties. He quickly turned and ran off into the dunes to find Crimson and Nightfall.

Chapter twelve: Memories
Kannon had always been mute. But he hadn’t always minded it. He loved his life in the Shadow phoenixes kingdom. Queen Jenny and King Owen were gracious and kind rulers. He was happy. He lived with his parents, Jaden and Mason, and his older sister Amarinda on a farm in a small city in the Shadow Phoenix kingdom. Amarinda was fifteen. Kannon was only twelve when it happened…
“Wakey, wakey, eggs and bacon!” Amarinda called, waking Kannon. Kannon waved a hand, grappling at Amarinda who was bending down over him. He was rewarded with Amarinda grabbing his arm. “Oh get up sleepy.” She growled. Kannon’s eyes popped open. A girl with tanned skin and dark blonde ringlets of hair and grey eyes leaned over him. “Go away.” Kannon signed playfully. Amarinda gave a mock frown. “Get up princess.” Amarinda said.
Kannon slowly did so, stretching. Amarinda bounded downstairs, calling something to their mother. Kannon dressed quickly and walked downstairs. “Good morning darling.” Mother called to him. “Hi mum.” Kannon signed. Mother smiled softly and went back to packing a picnic basket full of breakfast. Kannon and
Amarinda were going to climb up the high hill close to the small city, and have breakfast in the sunrise. It was a tradition every Friday. Sure they could fall from the cliff edge and die…but they’d never thought about that. “Hiya sport.” Father said and ruffled Kannon’s hair.
Kannon ducked away, grinning. He caught Amarinda’s eye, she was busy trying to sneak past their mom and grab a slice of toast. A slapping sound commenced soon after. “Oh, no, no, Amarinda Katelyn Evans!!! Keep your hands away from this food until y’all are ready!” Mother snapped.
“Aww but mom…” Amarinda whined. “Don’t take that tone with me, young lady! Go help Kannon, get the picnic blanket. And that’s final!” Amarinda stalked off to Kannon, grinning from ear to ear. “Why do you have to harass mother?” Kannon signed. Amarinda smiled at her little brother.
“It’s not harassing technically if I do it every time…she always knows it’s coming. Kannon rolled his eyes and Amarinda and him ran to the closet to find the picnic blanket.
“Ahh. It’s so sunny today!” Amarinda exclaimed. She and Kannon plopped down in the grass on the picnic blanket on top of the hill and raised their faces toward the bright brilliant sky. They ate breakfast in silence, watching the sunrise. Brilliant colors pierced the sky. Purple, orange yellow…
“I could stay here all day. Amarinda whispered. A streak of red shot across the sky. “Ooh! Did you see that!” Amarinda exclaimed excitedly. Kannon grinned and nodded. Slowly the sun rose, and with it all the creatures did as well. And so the did the townspeople.
Eventually they started packing to leave. “I have to do the dishes.” Amarinda said. Kannon nodded. “I have to help dad, shovel new shavings for the horses.” He signed. Amarinda wrinkled her nose. “Eww. Glad I’m not doing that.”
They began climbing down the steep cliff. Amarinda began climbing down first, Kannon after her, holding the picnic basket. “You know what we should do tonight? We should come up here for sunset. Wouldn’t that be even cooler than this?” Amarinda asked. Kannon nodded.
“Unfortunately we can’t bc it’ll be dark and we might-aghhh!” Amarinda suddenly lost her grip. The rocks she was holding into broke off and she fell. Kannon opened his mouth to yell but no sound came out.
Luckily on of her hands caught a unsteady edge. Kannon began scrambling down toward her. “I’m coming!” He wanted to say. “Kannon…” Amarinda whispered. Kannon paused. Suddenly she screamed again. The rock she was holding onto was slowly coming loose. She began breathing hysterically. “Kannon.” She whimpered. They locked eyes. “Kannon. Help me. Please.” Tears formed in his eyes.
He couldn’t tell her to hold on, or that he was coming and probably couldn’t help her nonetheless. He was useless. “Kannon…I-“
And then the rock broke. It was in slow motion. Kannon reached out with his hand but she was too far away. Tears dripped down her face as she fell, her hair swirling softly around her face. Her mouth formed into a “O” shape. Her hand was still reaching upward toward him, grappling for a anchor. And then she hit the ground. A loud crack rang through the air, as her back snapped upon impact.
Kannon didn’t remember dropping the basket. He didn’t remember climbing down the cliff or running to his fallen sister. All he remembered was him being there beside her lifeless body. The back of her head was bloody and her eyes were wide open, staring lifelessly at him. He remembered clutching her dead body to his chest, sobbing silently. Time lost all meaning and eventually another villager found him and called his parents.

Kannon woke with a start. His chest moved up and down with panicked breathing. Useless. He clenched his eyes shut, blocking out all tears and feelings and thoughts. If he didn’t care for anyone else, not even himself, then no else would get hurt. He was too useless to help them anyway.

“Rowan.” A soft voice called, waking Rowan from her not so deep sleep. Rowan sat up, breathing hard. She looked around. Kannon was rolling back and forth in his sleep. Elayne lay close to her, her arm propped in a uncomfortable angle. Cedric was sleeping soundly, next to Oliver, his boots were off and lying beside his bare feet. His medallion was lying on his chest, as he slept. A snore slipped out of his mouth every once in a while and his dark hair hung over his closed eyelids, a half smile formed on his sleeping face. Oliver was mumbling school stuff in his sleep. “A squared plus b squared equals….”
Cedric grunted in his sleep and rolled to his side.
“Rowan..” A soft voice called. It hadn’t come from Kannon, Cedric, Elayne or Oliver. Rowan couldn’t go back to sleep. It had taken Elayne about three hours to fall asleep. She had complained that the ground wasn’t clean or comfortable. Rowan looked around. There was no one nearby. *SNORE!!!*
Rowan glared at Cedric’s sleeping form. “The triceratops has three horns which is why..” Oliver mumbled. Rowan sighed and quietly stood to her feet. She was supposed to be up right now anyway. The bright stars twinkled brightly above her and the moon was full. Quietly, she crept past the others.
Just as she was about to disappear further into the woods, she heard the voice call once more. “Rowan…”And then she was off. Hopefully she’d be back by the time they woke up…

Just tamed my first Sinomacrops and named it Monarch. Where I tamed Monarch (And the best place to tame Sinomacrops in my opinion) was at the very bottom center of the island, in that ravine with a river at the bottom. It’s a gorgeous place to set up a hub, and the Sinomacrops are EVERYWHERE. I just put chitin in my last slot, ran toward him, waited until I saw hearts, stopped, crouched, waited for him to fly to me, and BOOM, I got Monarch. They’ll fly off after you feed them, run after them (Don’t get too close), and wait for them to come to you again. DO NOT MOVE WHEN IT’S FLYING UP TO YOU.
These guys are awesome truth be told REALLY AWESOME one day trying to get wyvern eggs with my tribe mate hiding behind a rock yelling DRAGON CANT WE LEAVE? Meanwhile i was actally gliding doging lightning poison and dire yelling WHOOOOOOHOOOOOOO and i mabaged to get a level 50 poison egg i owe it all to giddy (my sinomacrops) its all true whether you believe or not it was awesome i think im gonna go doge some lightning blasts wish me luck=1 up
