To tame one-

1. Bring it to a body of water or get it wet, the flames should dim/ go away

2. Damage it until it roars/ stops taking damage. You’ll have around 4 seconds to hop on its back before it reaggros and you have to damage it more

3. Attack enemies and use flame absorb (controls on right side while riding) to absorb the flames you hit them with. You’ll have 30 seconds before it kicks you off but only about seven before taming effectiveness starts falling. Make sure to keep flame absorbing regularly to keep it maxed.

I’d highly suggest trapping a Rex or another tanky wild enemy before hand to attack with the pyro to get the taming effectiveness up effectively and safely, good luck.

Ignore anyone who says lure it to water the easier and safer way is to just wait until it is raining

If u want to accept wildcards mistake as a blessing or to sacrifice because of their mistake, pyromane can be found in blue zone on ab

One direct counter to killing tamed pyromanes with riders is getting a meaglosaurus a raptor and a pike or gun

The megalo is for picking up the pyro and eating it up

To en the raptor guy will chase the pyro rider and pounce him. Then the raptor guy will jump off and use the pike or gun and start killing him

Then hopefully they die.

(If the megalo can’t kill the pyro bring another tame to help kill it do NOT use a low level megalosaurus because when pyros die they explode so make sure you have flak armour and your megalosaurus high hp)

If you play on Xbox use RB + LT when taming to absorbe fire and keep timer up

To guy who said walks all over Lava Golem and Ice worm queen. I have killed the ice worm queen, but what melee for fighting the Lava golem. Also does fires affect the golem. Could my Pyromane that I beat the queen with (8k hp and 455 or more % melee lvl 277) beat the lava golem? Thank you.

The easiest way to tame 1 of these (if you have an argy, which you should already). Pick it up and drop it into the water, hit it a few times and it’ll do a fake roar and stop attacking. Quickly jump on and go around and kill dinos. When its flame meter is full (left ctrl + right click for pc) it resets its timer, same as killing. These creatures are also immune to cave lava. They cook meat in its inventory, provide insulation and heat resistance, immune to fire whilst riding and can turn into a shoulder pet. 1 of the most important tames on ark. Pyro on your shoulder, a veilwyrn companion and riding a griffin. Ultimate combo

Breeding Timers: Shadowmane has the same data for babies growth time as the Pyromane.

Literally the easiest thing to tame drag it to some water hit it with a spear while swimming and ride it i recommend taming like an lvl 20 first then 150 ect so you have the lvl 20 to lower the high one

To get 100% taming effectiveness do not allow timer to reach 9 seconds remining absorb flames with RB+LT with your cross hairs on Dino the bar does not have to be full

They get instakilled in lava in Lava Golem Cave. Tried to transform in cave and it launched me into lava, so be careful!

This creature is hands down THE best tame in the game. I have been following ark since 2018 and I've never seen anything like this, I just took down a 150 alpha Rex with just this guy. Get one immediately they are so so good

U can’t tame unless u own fantastic tames mod I tried but I couldn’t

You can’t use alphas to tame pyros it literally doesn’t event let you do damage to it.

Basically a fire shadowmane fire damage 10 / 10 if you get a high level maybe better than a Rex that is the same level taming maybe tame it with a tanky raptor shoot with pump action shot gun relatively easy tame but yeah maybe use them for the boss but there is water or is that ase I forgot but other than that they would be good for the boss

You need to buy a pack to tame it. If you dont have the pack you can see it, kill it and it can kill you but when you want to tame it youll need the pack. Hope this helps

Way easier to tame on the center because there is more water where they spawn

Honestly, these guys can be tamed relatively easy early one. Just lead one into the water and shoot it from above until you can mount it. The killing part might be difficult but if you’re taming a high level then it shouldn’t be a problem.
