I had started a game on Valguero rather recently and I had been looking for an otter. They didn't spawn near me, though, and I didn't have any fliers on me to go hunting for one. So I was baffled when a 140 otter turned up and was wandering around. Of course, I immediately wanted to tame it, so I began hunting down fish with my spears and died a handful of times, and eventually I get the guy to around 95% or so. I go and kill my last fish, and it's gone. It swam off into the lake, never to be seen again.

Or so I thought, because after multiple more hours of playtime my parasaur senses an enemy nearby. Now, being a pretty inexperienced player I lived in a very safe area where nothing dangerous ever spawned, and the most that would spawn were ichthyornis. So I check it out.

Lo and behold, the 140 otter returned, still waiting for its final fish. So I drop it in a small little pen, worried it might run off again, and go and kill a salmon for it. After struggling to feed it the fish, I had finally tamed it. After waiting so, so long to find an otter, the otter had come to me.

And then while I was trying to grab something I accidentally threw the otter into a lake where it was killed by piranhas in a matter of moments.

Needless to say, I was a little disappointed in myself for doing that. And now I need to find a new otter.
