Crazy fact: they are currently trying to fuse mammoth DNA with Asian elephant DNA to create a new arctic elephant species as an attempt to stop the ice caps from melting, because the mammothphants could turn the tundras (or at least parts of them) into grassland, and the grass would act as a shield to protect the permafrost (the Icy stuff underground in the arctic that is melting) from the sun/global warming. What this would mean for the tundra echo system 🤷🏻‍♂️ Probably not much as most arctic creatures would love more grass and mammoths to eat and most tundra predators eat fish anyway, I think the only problem is the mammoths wouldn’t really have predators.. but if they are bringing back mammoths maybe they’ll bring the saber tooth back too. And to be fair elephants don’t really have predators in Africa and Asia either it’s just the babies or lone elephants that get eaten anyway.
