Chapter 3 ~ phoenix from the ashes ~
Eyes opened, visible was a thatched roof, fish and plants hung from the ceiling, the creature sat up and looked around the room on one side, “What happened..” he said. He was sitting on a brush mattress, quite comfortable. In front of him was a little fireplace with a cooking pot and some crude dishes and pottery. He turned around to look at the other side of the room and nearly leapt out of his skin, lying on a second bed next to him was his worst nightmare, Salizar. ‘No no no no, am I dead?! No can’t be, this isn’t heaven. He’s here.. and my back aches..’ he thought. Sure enough he was alive, but how? Last he could recall he had Salizar pinned to his terminal, green flashing monitors all around with streaks of lightning sparking around them. Salizar stirred. The creature tensed as he did, then Salizar’s eyes opened slowly, he looked around him, catching the gaze of those green eyes. “Caesar.. how did you, damn.. I must have saved the both of us..” Salizar said. Caesar just looked at him confused, not sure what to say or what was happening. “Simple simple Caesar, you don’t get it? … Cloning.” Salizar said gesturing to his now unscarred face. “But-” Caesar started before being cut off, “Save your butts Caesar, someone is coming..” the door to the hut slowly swung open, and a surprising figure entered. A sea serpent. “Oh you’re awake, I am glad you ssurvived. Neither of you were moving when we found you.” The serpent said. “Where are we?” Caesar asked. “You’re in my home at my village, quite a sstep down from our old home. But until our emperor returnss from his quesst-” “wait-” Caesar interrupted, “Who’s your emperor?” He said. Salizar shifted uncomfortably. “Well, our old emperor stayed behind during the great fall, of course you wouldn’t know what that is. I’m not too sure myself. But the next in line and rightful heir is general Seascale, a great warrior and leader.” The serpent said. “You’re from Pandora?!” Caesar asked. “Yess yess, you know of it?” The serpent asked. “We’re from Pandora! And I traveled with General Seascale on his quest!” Caesar said. “Could thiss be true? Wait here, I will fetch our leader!” The serpent said excitedly slithering out of the hut. Salizar was looking around the room as if searching for an escape. “What’s wrong Salizar? Worried they’ll find out who you are?” Caesar said with a smug expression. “Yes! If they find out I’m the one their Emperor is hunting they’ll kill me! I didn’t come back just to die within the first half hour of consciousness!!” Salizar said in a panicky tone. “Serves you right.” Caesar said. “Caesar, you can’t let them kill me! You need me… if we are on Lush that can only mean one thing.. you won’t survive without my knowledge here!” Salizar said. “I can’t survive on the peaceful Ark we sent the Pandorans to? Lie all you want Salizar I’m not buying in.” Caesar said. “You fool, we may be on Lush but where is Lush!” Salizar said angrily. “In space just like all the other Arks.” Caesar said. “I wouldn’t be so sure of that..” Salizar said. Just then the guy door swung open. “Is it true, you traveled with General Seascale?” An older Seaserpent asked, the one they talked to before standing behind him. “Yes, and we succeeded in our quest, sort of..” he said glancing at Salizar. “Then.. where is he?” The serpent elder asked. “I’m, not sure.. we were.. separated.” Caesar said. The elder looked between them suspiciously “you know..” he said in a deeper tone, “Seascale told me before he sent us away that the fiend he was hunting, the one who destroyed Pandora, was a mesopithicus..” the elder pulled a shining trident off of his back and pointed it at Salizar’s neck. “Now.. how can I be sure said mesopithicus isn’t in this room as we speak..”

Chapter 29: Metal, Moon, Mosh

Late into the afternoon of their first day on Scorched Earth, Sodden, Dorack, Rod, Serenity, and Nal were out taming creatures. The group sat behind a rock, looking across the barren desert. There were some Morellatops walking around, but they were in packs and they attack when in packs.
“Okay, how will we tame these guys?” Sodden asked Dorack.
“Well… we can try separating them?”
“I don’t know. They might just come back together.” Sodden said. They all wore some hide armor that protected against the heat. The heat wave had ended a while ago, so they were all able to go out to find some creatures. They were sitting behind a rock, holding some crossbows and bolas.
“Are these bolas gonna work?” Dorack asked Serenity.
“No. You can’t bola Morellatops. The only few options of immobilizing them are out of our range to get right now.” Serenity said.
“Well, we won’t let that stop us. Should we find a rock to use?” Sodden asked.
“I guess that could work.” Rod said as he shrugged. Dorack walked from the rock and looked at his surroundings. There was a small overhang just around 50 meters from the group and near the pack of morellatops. The small cliff looked tall enough, so the group of survivors walked to the cliff. They walked to the wall, climbed up the rocks, and when they got to the top, they looked out over at the pack of morellatops.
“There’s three of them. We should kill the other two and tame the highest level.” Sodden suggested.
“That makes sense.” Serenity said. Dorack and Nal walked a little away, looking at their surroundings. Sodden turned to them and called out for them.
“Guys, what are you doing?”
Nal and Dorack turned around. “You go get the Morellatops. I think we found something.” Dorack said.
“Rod, you care to go with them?” Sodden asked. Rod nodded and walked to Nal and Dorack.
“What’d you see?” Rod asked. Dorack pointed to something around 200 meters away. It was a wolf. But not any wolf. It had a weird blue glow on its tail and a dark gray color on its fur. Its ears were normal-colored. “What’s that?” Nal asked. “Reminds me of the moon in Snowball.” Dorack said. Rod looked at him.
“Well, what are we gonna do?” Rod asked. “We’ll come back for that wolf. That was the only cataprime meat I was able to make. You need some berries, fiber, water, and also a drop of Rex essence which you get with your implant. The problem is: that’s only possible with a Creature Orb, which is rare in creatures. I saw it on this Rex and destroyed it. But we may not make any more for a while.” Dorack said.
“Okay, well, we can just use normal prime meat. Not that big of a deal.” Nal said. “Yeah, but we don’t know that guy’s level.” Dorack said. Rod stood there in thought, staring at the lone wolf walking around the place. “Dorack… something wrong?” Nal asked as she walked to him and put her hand on his shoulder.
“Nah… no. Just that… that wolf reminds me of the moon on Day 74 in Snowball. Okay. Rod, I want to go to the mountain to get crystal. We have to tame that wolf.” Dorack said. Rod nodded.
“Okay. I’ll just let the others know. Just be careful.” Rod said. Then they heard laughing, then they walked to Sodden, who was sitting on the ground, cackling. “Uh…” Rod asked in confusion, then Nal looked at a Morellatops standing on the ground and saw something that answered why. “What the heck? Is that a…” Nal said. Sodden shot up just then. “Yes. That is a red spot there! A Creature Implant could lie inside him!” Sodden yelled. The Morellatops had a red hump on his back, that was glowing and emitting very little light. “Oh, my god.” Dorack said. Serenity took out her crossbow.
“Well, let’s get this guy, shall we?” Serenity asked. Sodden nodded. He took out his crossbow, they pulled back the strings and put some tranq arrows on them. They aimed them at the Morellatops. The other two were lying on the ground, dead. The last one was running into a rock. It then ran the other direction, towards the east.
“We can’t let it get away!” Sodden yelled. Serenity nodded in agreement then the two jumped off, letting out a battle cry as they ran for the Morellatops, pulling the trigger on their crossbows, reloading them with more tranqs, and sending the tranqs into the back of the creature.
“Okay… what now? You two gonna get your resources?” Rod asked Dorack and Nal.
“Yep.” Dorack said.
“It’d be good to find a source of prime meat if we wanna tame that wolf.” Nal said.
“I agree. How about we bola it and check the level?” Dorack asked. Nal nodded. Rod grunted and looked towards their nearby base and walked to it.
“So… we gonna go?” Dorack said. Nal chuckled.
“Yes.”

Day 74 of ARKtic
19 days before Nal and Dorack’s escape
The dim sun began to disappear below the horizion. It had been said a lunar eclipse was going down that night, so it was a very big night. Arks across the Earth were preparing to sit out of their bases and watch the moon. The moon would pass the sun as it was setting, and the moon was said to turn a color no one has seen before. Especially if you lived on Snowball. The atmosphere would make the moon a different color, at least to Nal and Dorack’s eyes. The Creator had been sharing this news across the Arks, using the Obelisks. (aka how he communicates with survivors most of the time) Nal and Dorack sat in their base, looking out the window near the front door. There were no snowstorms. It was warmer than normal in the Ark. It was a perfect night for this thing. As Nal and Dorack looked out the window, Nal turned to Dorack. “Well… you excited for tonight?” Nal asked.
“Yes. We may’ve gone through a lot of bad things here, but the positive side is: there are many great things that can happen in Snowball. It’s such a great challenge. It does risk your entire existence, though.” Dorack said. Nal nodded in agreement.
“So true.” Nal responded with a quiet chuckle. The sun was setting slowly. The estimated time left was around 10 minutes.
“Well, what should we do while we wait?” Dorack asked.
“We do have good fur armor. I think we should check out the gray obelisk again.” Nal said. Dorack gasped.
“No. I can’t. Not after last time.” Dorack whimpered. Nal put her hand on Dorack’s shoulder as Dorack held the edge of the windowsill with his hands, looking down on them.
“We have better wolves now. Okay? It won’t happen again.” Nal said.
“No… Day 60 was too big of a disaster for me to consider walking there again.” Dorack said as he let go and sat down. Nal sat down too, next to him.
“Dude. We can do this. We can go if we want to. We have wolves that will protect us. This fur should help us stay safe. I know how awful Day 60 was for you…” Nal said, then Dorack cut in, and snapped.
“Awful?! My best friend’s HP was in the hundredths!! Literal centiseconds away from losing my best friend for good!! THAT IS A FEELING YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND!!!” Dorack screamed in anger as he slammed his fists into the ground. Nal sighed.
“I almost lost you too on Day 1, remember? You had frostbite and was on 0.9 HP. If it was not for the gray obelisk’s warmth and the campfires, you wouldn’t be here right now. And I was really upset too. But… we survived, right? We’re still here. That’s all that matters.” Nal said. Dorack sniffled.
“You’re right. We both experienced that. Almost dying. Going below 1 HP. That’s almost impossible to come back from. But we’re both still here. Sorry for yelling.” Dorack said as he stood up. Nal stood up too. “It’s all good.” Nal said. Dorack held out his arms and embraced Nal. Nal embraced Dorack with her arms too. “Well, shall we go?” Dorack asked. Nal nodded. They let go of each other. They then walked to the right of the base, which had a room. The room was their storage room. They walked to one of the storage boxes set out in a line just next to the door. They opened it and took out two fur chestpieces and two fur leggings. Nal took one of the chestpieces and leggings, and Nal and Dorack put on the armor. They then walked to the door and opened it. They walked through the snow, crunching it down with their shoes. They then walked to a pen next to the house, which had walls around it. There were 10 wolves in the pen, along with a yuty. There was also two daedons in the back, and some feeding troughs on the left. Nal and Dorack walked to the gateway and opened it. They got on two of the front wolves and set out for the gray obelisk just south of their base.

Nal and Dorack sat behind a rock as the wolf sniffed the ground, looking for food. They held a bola in their hands, and were ready to hit it with the bola. Then as the wolf walked closer to the rock. Dorack nodded at Nal and both of then jumped from behind the rock. Dorack lifted the bola, swung it around, and threw it at the wolf as the wolf started running at them. The bola hit the wolf’s leg, and it stopped in its tracks.
“Okay. We got it. Now what?” Nal asked.
“Now we check the level.” Dorack answered. He walked to the wolf and looked at his implant, then moved his left arm closer to the wolf’s body. A small yellow title appeared. “Female Wild Direwolf - Level 105” the title said. Dorack gasped. “Okay. That’s a pretty good level. A 105. If we tame that, we can breed it with the male and get a wolf army.” He said. Nal nodded.
“Perfect.” Then the two survivors turned around to leave, then they heard howling. They turned back around to see the wolf howling. Then two other wolves came from behind some rocks that sat behind the wolf that howled. The stunned wolf got a yellow glow, so it was the second strongest pack member. The other two wolves came and growled deeply as they walked towards the two. “Okay. Like as if they even knew we were coming.” Nal said. Unless… wait. Look at the wolf on the left.” Dorack said as he pointed a finger at the wolf who had a dark red eye socket with nothing in it. “The blinded wolf. This is the same wolf pack that cornered me earlier.” Nal said. “Back for revenge. A 105 was not the second strongest so I’m pretty sure the pack leader is at their den.” Dorack said as he walked backwards slowly, along with Nal. “But why would they leave their leader back?” Nal asked. “No idea, but we need to leave now.” Dorack said as the wolves started closing in, growling louder. “Let’s get back to Sodden and see what we can do.” Nal said. They turned around again and started running as fast as they could, and the wolves roared as they ran after them.
Rod walked up the large northern mountain, a metal pickaxe rested on his shoulder and another bag to hold some metal. He had the low level raptor following. As he walked, he saw some shiny, pebbled rocks just in front of him. Metal nodes. Rod bashed his pickaxe against the rocks, and metal pieces broke down as they fell off the rock. Rod picked up the pieces and put them in his second bag. Rod kept bashing his pickaxe against the rock until the whole thing was down. There were multiple pieces of metal in his bag, around 90. Rod walked to another metal rock and broke it down too. He then stopped bashing his pickaxe as he looked out on the green obelisk. He stared at it for a few seconds. “Hmmm. Perhaps I could contact Dread from here. He is one ascension away, so it should work. Ah, whatever. I can’t let them find out how to break the shield, or my plan will be foiled.” Rod growled. He threw the pickaxe into the rock and sat down. “One day soon, the time will arrive again. I am soon to have a second chance at this. And that Sodden… I have a plan for him.” Rod sneered. The raptor purred in curiosity as it tilted its head and stared at Rod. Rod looked at the raptor. “Hey. You don’t have a creature implant like Reaper and that Morellatops does, so you aren’t as smart.” Rod said. The raptor roared in anger and stomped its paw on Rod’s foot, causing him to shout in pain.
“OW! Okay, sorry. Sorry for saying that. Just that… whatever. Forget it.” Rod said. He turned back around to the metal rock he was breaking, yanked the pickaxe out of the rock, and continued breaking the metal node.
Serenity and Sodden kept on running, their feet kept pounding down the sand, and they kept using their crossbows. Around 20 tranq arrows were lodged into the Morellatops’s hump, and it was starting to run slower. “It’s almost out!” Sodden said. The two stopped running to regain stamina, then they launched two more tranqs into the legs, and as they made contact with the skin, the Morellatops roared one last time and collapsed to the ground. “Yeah! We got him!” Sodden yelled in excitement. Serenity walked to the Morellatops and put a stack of berries in its inventory. They turned around to see the east, and saw the dunes just a few hundred meters away. “Oh, my god.” Sodden said. “This is our chance at a Fasolauchus kill.” Serenity said. Sodden nodded in agreement. “You know, we’re still pretty close to the base, like 800 meters. How about you go back and get Reaper and I’ll stay and get the Morellatops?” Serenity suggested. Sodden looked around, thinking. “Yeah, that might work. Well…” Sodden said, then he got cut off by a message. Dorack had sent a warning. “Dude! Remember the wolf pack that almost killed Nal earlier? They’re back,” The message said. Sodden gasped.
“Oh, my god. Why can’t they just leave them alone?” Serenity sighed and walked to Sodden. “We got no choice. We gotta leave the Morellatops here and hope nothing comes to kill it.” Serenity said.
“Well, that’s good. You’re right. We have no choice. We must leave him. It will take a little bit for him to tame, anyway.” Sodden said. They then looked west and ran in that direction, to where they hoped they would find Nal and Dorack

After over 5 minutes, Nal and Dorack, riding on their wolves, approached the terminal of the glowing and humming gray obelisk. The terminal was round shaped with a large orb on it, unlike the normal obelisks on most Arks. Most Arks have creatures of up to Level 150. Very rarely, some can have up to 300, and only around 21 Arks, out of hundreds, have been found to have 450+ levels. Only two Arks have ever been recorded with Level 600 and 900 creatures, and Snowball was not one of them. It did have 450 level creatures, though. The gray obelisk had a dark gray glow, it getting darker as the day comes to an end. The sun was about to fall below the horizon, and all its rays of light fading from the Ark. Nal and Dorack parked their wolves next to the terminal then walked a few meters from it. They took out some resources, crafted some chairs, and put them on the ground. Nal sat on one and Dorack sat on the other. The sun was over halfway below the horizon. Then they saw it beginning to glow green. But it wasn’t the sun itself. The moonlight’s light was shining past the sun and creating a green glow, because the yellow and blue glow combined to make it look green. Then as the sun disappeared completely below the horizon, the moon rose above it. It emitted blue-white lights that spread across Snowball. Nal and Dorack had their jaws dropped, as their eyes gazed upon the beautiful moon. The color was bright, and it seemed to lit up the Ark. The obelisks were shining brighter too. “This is awesome.” Dorack said.
“I agree.” Nal said. She took out a few pieces of prime meat and gave one to Dorack. Dorack took the meat and Nal and Dorack started eating their prime meat.
“This adventure has done a lot to us. Many things happened in these past two and a half months. Sure, we’ve had many close calls and scary moments, but through it all, we survived and thrived.” Dorack said. “I’d definitely come back here if respawning was functional in this Ark.” Nal said. The two laughed just then. “The stakes were so high, yet our bond kept us going. That just proves the strength of friendship.” Nal said. Dorack sighed then nodded slowly. “Nal… at first, being here was a nightmare. But over time, it got better. This is all contributing to getting the Artifact of the Arctic and getting out of here.” Dorack said. Nal turned her head to Dorack. “Yeah.” Nal said. Then the sky rumbled and the two saw some snowflakes falling slowly. There were clouds high in the sky, and the moon was not covered by the clouds. “It’s snowing.” Dorack said. “Yeah. And remember: either we leave together or die together. One cannot live without the other.” Nal said. Dorack laughed. “Where’d you get that quote?” Dorack said, chuckling.
“I said it… because you’re my friend. Friends stick together. This Arctic adventure… it has changed us in many, many ways. This peace… this bond… I would not trade it for the universe.” Nal said. Dorack nodded slowly.
“You’re great. You remember when that survivor spawned here?” Dorack asked. Nal laughed.
“Oh, yeah. We’re pretty much the only reason he’s still here.” Nal said. Then Dorack moved his chair closer to Nal and held out his hand. “Arctic Adventure… together.” Dorack said. Nal smiled and held Dorack’s hand. “No creature nor temperature can break a bond so strong and true…” Nal said. Then they both looked forward.
“The toughest of situations is what generates the true power of friendship.” Both said in unison.

Nal and Dorack were sitting behind a rock, exhausted. Nal had run out of stamina sooner so she and Dorack had to hide. The wolves were still close. They sniffed rocks, looking for the two. Dorack was holding Nal’s hands, staying quiet behind rocks. “Okay. We’re gonna be okay.” Dorack said, breathing hard. Nal nodded.
“Where’s the others?”
“Sodden said he should be here soon.” Dorack responded. Then they heard quiet hissing and growling. The wolves then started whimpering in fear as they heard loud footsteps.
“GO! Get out of there! Don’t look, just run!” Someone shouted from the front. Nal and Dorack turned to him, saw Sodden and Serenity standing there, and stood up, letting go of each other. “I was just running, and an Alpha Raptor flew past me. Thank god there was another Morellatops or else.” Sodden said tiredly. “Alpha’s coming for the wolves. We need to go now.” Serenity said. Nal and Dorack nodded and walked to them. The four walked back to their base. The raptor hissed and growled as the blinded wolf looked at it nervously. It roared and tried to run at it, then the raptor opened its mouth and sunk its teeth into the head. IIt popped and a huge burst of blood splattered onto the ground. The wolves whimpered in fear and ran away. There was now an Alpha 500 meters from the base!
Sodden and the others stopped running at the steps up to their base. They held the pillars, gasping for air. They had to regain stamina. “That was close.” Sodden said. “Yeah.” Serenity said. “Wow. I saw what happened to the blinded wolf. Poor guy. At least the blue moon wolf escaped.” Nal said. Dorack nodded. The four walked into the base and saw some strange things. The bedroom was bigger, the halls were bigger, the kitchen got an expansion, and there was a forge room in the kitchen. They walked there to see Rod putting metal in some forges set out in a line. Rod turned around as he was putting metal in one of the back forges. “Oh, hey! I gave the base a small expansion. Also went on a metal and crystal run. We can now get spyglasses and therefore check the level of dinos safely.” Rod said. Everyone cheered in excitement. “Today was quite something.” Sodden said. “I know. Getting separated, getting ambushed by the same pack of wolves twice, and now… there’s an Alpha Raptor half a kilometer from our base.” Dorack said. Rod’s jaw dropped.
“A what?! How will we kill that?” Rod asked nervously.
“If the raptor is a low enough level, we can pin it with Reaper and kill it like that.” Sodden stated.
“Good plan. For now, let’s settle down and get resources.” Dorack said. Then he got a notification on his implant. He looked down and gasped. “Guys… Nameless attacked Nudon today.” Dorack said. Everyone gasped loudly. “What? What happened?” Sodden asked. “Looks like a lot.” Dorack said, shaking his head and making a worried face.
One hour earlier…
Back on The Island…
On the south slope of the volcano, sat the base of Nudon. The walls that surrounded it. The houses and breeding barn along the walls and the hill. The castle at the very top of the hill and on the volcano’s steep slope. The walls had nothing on the front, at least not near the gates. Red was in the base, moving some metal out of a Ankylosaur that sat outside of the castle doors. He walked to the forge room while he watched Cendor and his buddies make a stone room to repair the hole in the wall that was once the forge room. A stone floor covered the crater, along with stairs going down to it. The ceiling was being constructed too. Walls extended outwards across the crater’s radius. The walls stretched high up to the ceiling they had made, which was around 10 meters from the ground. It was getting big enough for new forges. As Red put the metal in the forge inside the forge room, he heard an explosion and looked up. He dropped the metal in his arms and took out the god shotgun. Then as he left the room, he heard crashing. “What the heck?” Red said. He walked out of the castle doors, and his jaw dropped as he saw two Gigas rip down the gate to the base. Red took out two cryopods and threw them both out. Then Cendor and Paul ran out of the castle. “What’s happening… WHAT THE HECK!” Cendor yelled as he saw the Gigas roaring as they walked to Red. “Get the other Gigas! I’ll handle these two.” Red said. Cendor and Paul nodded, then ran down the hill to the breeding barn. The Gigas stopped walking to Red, then another Giga came in, and it had an orange banner on the head. Cordor sat on the saddle. “Hello, buddy. Now that these guys are off trying to get all they need to get through Extinction’s barrier, I can finally compromise you all. That starts with me getting that god shotgun back.” Cordor sneered. Red gasped and stammered, trying to say something. “I knew you would betray your promise.” Red said. “If only C Tribe hadn’t killed the Titan yesterday… Oh, wait. They just interfered. The idiot was who killed it. If not for Rod, they would’ve brought me along to strengthen Extinction’s protection. But now, they will find a way to compromise the barrier. I must go around them and break them from the inside That starts with an full on attack. Army, CHARGE!!” Cordor yelled. The Gigas behind him roared as they ran into the wall, trampling the rocks on the ground and crashing into the walls, causing even more of the defenses to fall. Then Cendor, who sat on a Giga and led a army of 4 Gigas, came from the left. “Okay. You’re here. Let’s go.” Red said. His Giga leaped to bite another, and one of the Nameless Gigas came from the back, with its mouth open, and ran at Red. Red moved his Giga out of the way. They were outnumbered 6 to 20. Red knew it was too risky to get the god shotgun out, as one round would not be enough to take out one Giga. There were too many Gigas for it to be safe to reload. It’d basically be an easy target for Cordor. Cordor took out a sword, let out a battle cry, then jumped off his Giga and onto the tail of Red’s while his back was turned. Red was using his Giga to bite other Gigas, but there were 4 Gigas biting his skin. The Giga was getting bloodied and torn down. Red knew this wasn’t going to work. He took out a crossbow with a grappling hook on it, aimed at the roof, and launched it. It went into one of the walls, and got frozen. Red grappled up, then Cordor leaped and grabbed his leg. Red looked down and reached into his bag. “Oh, I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Cordor chuckled as he held his sword. It was a whopping 610% damage, enough to slice cerametal apart and therefore kill survivors permanently. “Best you don’t know what this sword does. But I’m gonna let you know. One strike of this sword is curtains for anything I hit.” Cordor said. Red groaned as he grabbed the roof with his hand, Cordor on his back. Cordor climbed over him, his foot kicking Red in the face, and stood up. Red yelled in pain and let go of the crossbow, then stood on the roof. “Just look down.” Cordor said. Red turned around and saw a terrible sight. There were limbs on the ground, Gigas unconscious and dying, blood everywhere. They were truly outnumbered. Even the Rexes wouldn’t help either. They were still hurt from the battle the previous day. When Nameless was done tearing apart Nudon’s Gigas, they stood outside the castle doors. Cordor growled as he walked to Red. “Get me Denine. Now.” Cordor said as he lifted his sword and rested it on Red’s left arm, just next to his implant. Red was silent and said nothing. “Now.” Cordor growled loudly. Red decided he had no choice. His right hand still sat in his backpack, and a finger on the trigger of the god shotgun just barely out of the bag. Cordor could not see the trigger. Red took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. It barely missed Cordor, but it ripped apart Red’s backpack, causing all his items to get thrown off the roof. The roof below them immediately shattered in pieces and the two fell through. Denine ran from her office towards Red. Cordor backed up and stood up again. Red walked to Denine as they started walking along the hall. Cordor held his sword tightly. Denine growled and threw a cryopod on the ground. Came out of it was a raptor. But not any raptor. Dorack had tamed a max level Alpha Raptor a few months earlier and this was what came out. It was a 279 Alpha Raptor. Cordor’s jaw dropped. “What! How did you even tame an Alpha? Oh, you stupid. Good thing I decided to bring the OP sword.” Cordor said. He yelled as he ran at the raptor. The raptor roared loudly as it dashed quickly at Cordor. Red turned to Denine. “We need to handle these Gigas.” Red said. “Well, good thing I brought the Alpha Rex.” Denine said with determination. The two walked downstairs towards the castle doors. Denine threw out two cryopods, and large Rexes with a red-black hue on its head and a red glow on its body came out. White back, red legs, black streak, both were Alpha Rexes, Level 280s. The tribe swore only to use the Alphas in a base emergency, and seeing that the basegrounds was turned into a mosh pit, the two could determine this as an emergency. Then the castle doors opened. The Rexes roared loudly as they dashed at the Gigas. Their teeth sunk into two Gigas at once, and both Gigas roared in pain. The Gigas were gnashing on the Alpha Rex, but its resistance was really high. The second Rex came to attack. From there, a full on battle went down. The Rexes were ripping up some of the Gigas, breaking a few saddles, even killing some of the riders. Cordor was being attacked by the Alpha Raptor. Cordor was standing on a bookshelf in one of the bedrooms, and the raptor roared as it kept jumping. Then the shelf fell and Cordor threw his sword at the raptor. The blade made contact with the raptor’s skin, scratching the back and causing a huge scratch to be made. Tons of blood poured out and the raptor screeched in pain. Cordor leaped up and ran out of the room, panting in fear. He heard roaring and ripping, then looked out the window to see a horrible sight. “Oh, no. I should’ve killed that stupid Dorack when I had the chance!!” Cordor screamed.
Present Tense
Scorched Earth…
Red had messaged the five survivors the whole story. Rod and Dorack were shocked at what had gone down.
“Wow. I knew that stupid Cordor would want to attack again.” Sodden said. “Cordor just wants Denine so badly. But… why? If he wasn’t there to kill her, then what did he want from her?” Dorack said. “Probably something related to Extinction’s protective shield. Terad had gone down there once to modify the heart so it created a large, protective shield that is impossible to bypass with the normal interArk transportation paths. Cordor wants something with it.” Serenity said. “Well, that’s terrible what happened, but at least they’re okay.” Nal said. Everyone murmured in agreement. “Well, let’s settle down now, shall we?” Sodden said. Everyone nodded. That night, they just got some resources, ate some food, then they went to bed a few hours after sunset.
That was one long chapter. Anyways, sorry if you didn’t like the bloody scene. There’ll be another one in the next chapter but it’ll be way shorter and less brutal.

Chapter 18: Forever Promise

“Whew, and that’s the last log finished!” Ruby let out a sigh as she clapped the dust off her hands. The raft was finally finished. What Samuel presumed to be just a thick blanket of logs tied together poorly with fiber had turned into something more. The platform raft was very sturdy and could fit everyone on board two times over, and there was also a lever made of wood that could be used to steer the raft. The raft even had a sail so that the wind would be able to blow them in the way they wished to go.
“Did we really have to build this over-the-top raft just to cross the river?” Samuel asked.
“Well, I thought about it for a moment,” Ben explained, “And I’m thinking, no. We’re not just crossing the river. We’re trying to get to the Book Club camp. I know that if we continue traveling along the coast we should be able to reach a river. If we just travel across the river we’ll make it to the camp in no time!”
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” Neddy said with pursed lips, “I saw a shark in the water, what if the shark eats our boat?!”
“No sharks can eat our raft,” Aurora reassured Neddy, “Sharks are friendly unless they think we’re prey.”
“Yeah and we’re on this giant attackable vulnerable raft…” Neddy replied queasily, “Definitely not prey.”
“Don’t be so paranoid, you may as well jinx us because of it,” Ruby warned Neddy.
“Right, sorry,” Neddy replied with a frown, “There’s nothing to worry about, right?”
“Yeah. Nothing to worry about. Jinxes and bad luck don't exist anyway,” Samuel declared.
With that, everyone boarded the raft, and with Samuel as their captain, they set sail for the river that leads to the Book Club…
“Smooth sailing so far,” Samuel replied as he pulled the lever a few times. Neddy was sitting criss-cross-applesauce and was peering into the deep blue sea. He was trying his best to observe the sealife down below. For some reason, the ocean surrounding the Island was crystal clear. This allowed Neddy to observe the fauna more easily.
“Woah! Are those Ichthyosaurus?!” Neddy gasped as he pointed at a bunch of dolphin-like creatures. Ruby giggled and put her chin on her fist. She was sitting next to Neddy and had her legs in the water.
“Aren’t those just dolphins?” Ruby asked curiously.
“Well, they can’t just be dolphins, after all, we’re on a-”
“Dinosaur infested island!” they both shouted in unison. The both of them laughed and hollered as they cried tears of joy. Star, on the other hand, was taking a nap next to Samuel, while Samuel’s raptor looked out into the open seas ominously, with a blank stare and a deathly grin.
Aurora, who was far away from the others, and looking out at the departing footpaw, sighed heavily as she fiddled with a strange necklace that was made of gold.
“Soooo, you gonna tell anyone about who you’re going to get with?” Ben asked as he crept up to her.
“I’m not getting with anyone,” Aurora shot back.
“Come on, it isn’t fun bottling up your emotions like that,” Ben retorted, “Hey, seems like Neddy and Ruby’s getting along really well, if you know what I mean. I thought you’d like Samuel-”
“NAH,” Aurora quickly responded, “I already said I’m not getting with anyone.”
Although it was clear that Aurora’s ears were burning up.
“It’s not a good idea to deny your emotions,” Ben told her, “Keep them hidden for too long, and they spoil fast. Then everything gets ruined. Just let loose and have some fun. You’ll appreciate it.”
Aurora scoffed and said back, “Don’t be so hypocritical. After you beat me in that tennis match, that girl was trying to get with you. You KNOW she was. So don’t try to pretend as if that didn’t happen. Trying to deny it and pretend you couldn’t see the signs. Why should I follow your advice when you can’t even follow your own?”
Ben was silent for a bit upon her words. He knew. He put his hands in his graduation robe pockets, and a waft of serenity floated in the air. He pulled his hand out to reveal a hibiscus wedged within his fingers, vines intertwining with his hands.
“Because I had a PROMISE to keep,” Ben answered solemnly, “A forever promise. And if I ever broke that promise, I’d never be able to forgive myself.”
Ben put his hands back in his pockets and the flower disappeared.
“Besides. She isn’t my type. Nobody is, really.”
Ben stopped speaking and began to shuffle away.
“Just consider what you feel toward certain people whose names start with S,” Ben said, “Why do you feel that way? Then take action. Because you might really like him without realizing it.”
Ben brushed his hair to the side, then rubbed his forehead intensely.
“Otherwise one day, you’re really going to regret it. And you’ll never be able to go back.”
Ben turned around with a big grin and closed eyes on his face. He put his hands up in the air with a smile.
“Well, nobody’s forcing you! You can do whatever you want you know,” Ben shouted with glee.
Suddenly, a large bellow radiated from the water, and Aurora got a chill of fear down her spine.
I can’t believe the people who wrote previous stories.
Ok anyway I had one who was good for me on rag. It was my 5th tame. But I didn’t realize how useful they are. But myn was so beautiful, she had red wings with blue accents during a Christmas event in 2019. (It’s 2020 and it’s about to be her birthday.) she’s maxed level now but the only tame that survived my beach bob days on rag. My server doesn’t have wipes so she’s good. My beautiful butterfly is gonna be one( if you don’t play ark you don’t know what an achievement this is to have a one year old tame.) and she can hold anything because butterfly uses are only weight. When we raid we use her to get the loot back. My friends told me to put it up on Dododex so I did.

-Chapter 66-
“I’m so hungry,” Rust grumbled.
“I am, too,” Forest said to him.
“We’re almost there!” Nyx exclaimed from the front. “There will be plenty of food to share at the camp!”
“We’ll see,” Spark said softly.
Forest looked up to see the sun high in the sky, beaming down on all of them. a slight breeze whistled passed him. the air was cooler than usual. he saw the trees greenish-yellow leaves rustling in the distance. Pteranodons flew overhead.
Nyx bounced down the hill, her tail held high. Forest remembered the time where they met in Runhiemr, when he’d clumsily tripped and fell into her.
Forest turned his head to Spark. “Hey, Spark, can I ask you something?” Forest asked, walking alongside her.
The pale Carnotaur nodded. “Sure.”
“Do I look… harmless? To you?”
“Why are you asking?”
“Well, when I first ran into Nyx, she told Blazeheart I looked harmless to her.”
“Oh.” Spark bobbed her head back and forth. “Well…”
“You do,” Rust said, coming up from the other side.
“I do?”
“Yeah,” Spark admitted.
“You’re adorable,” Rust appended.
Forest blinked, slowing his pace. He spotted Crimson ahead of them, snapping her jaws at a dawdling butterfly. “Crimson!” he called. He ran up to her, and she shot him a bored look. “Crimson, Crimson. I have a question. Do I really look—”
“Maybe.” Crimson said.
Forest stopped walking and sat down, genuinely befuddled. Crimson paused and turned to look at him. “Hey, it’s a good thing. Girls like a cute carnivore.”
“I’m cute???”
“Yes,” Crimson said. she glanced at the two carnivores behind them. “Cuter than Rust, that’s for sure,” she said loudly.
“Ah, you know I’m good looking.” Rust called back.
Crimson was now clawing at a small worm poking out of the ground, growling lightly. She dug one claw under and pulled it out, fiddling with it for a moment before leaving it alone.
Forest quickly remembered their time in the prison, after the Five had been captured. He remembered when he had asked Crimson about her past and she’d burst out screaming at him. He’d pushed her to her limit, and he’d been full of regret since. ‘I should of never asked her. she needs to know I’m sorry.’
“Listen, Crimson,” Forest stammered, “about last time, back in the prisons… I shouldn’t of—”
“Stop,” Crimson said.
Forest ducked his head. “Ok.” he edged around her to continue walking.
But before he could take another step, Crimson stepped in front of him. Her brown eyes locked with his. “Stop,” she began, “because I should be the one apologizing.”
Forest stared at her, feeling more shocked than before.
“I’m sorry I snapped at you like that.” Crimson said. “You’re not stupid. You’re the first Rock Drake with the guts to leave the place you’d lived your whole life in. I was the same way. Only instead of a cave, I was stuck in the swamp that’s history was filled with pain; stuck with a carnivore who wasn’t even family. And the truth is, it wasn’t even my idea to leave. To go with you guys. It was a friends’. she suggested I put my past behind me, meet new carnivores and leave the swamp.”
Crimson looked down, closing her eyes for a moment. “The others were right. I’m not the average Kaprosuchus. I just get so angry… and when Sable told me I should follow you guys… I—I don’t remember what she said to make me agree, but I did.” She laughed quietly. “We’ve been together, what, two weeks now? I’ll tell you the whole thing has been a hell hole. And yet here I am, and we’re all still alive. And… you’re almost close enough for me to count you as a friend.” She smiled at him.
Forest didn’t know what to say. ‘she does care.’
“I will never ask you about your past again.” Forest whispered. “I promise.”
Crimson nudged his snout with hers. “You’re a nice guy, Forest. I’ll admit that.”
Just as she said it, Rust walked up to them with Spark behind him. “So… is my apology next or something?”
Crimson turned her head his way with a neutral look. “This is a nice moment,” she said. “don’t ruin it.” She brushed passed him and Forest.
“I would never,” Rust asserted, watching her as she walked away.
“Come on, lets catch up with Nyx.” Spark said, following. “And Crimson is right, you know,” she added.
“About what?” Rust asked.
“About Forest being cuter than you.” Spark said playfully.
Forest shook his head with a giggle. Rust smiled at Forest and shrugged.
As they turned to trail after the others, Forest heard Nyx yelling, “Come on! We’re here, we’re here!!”

Chapter seven: Cyra and Cyrus.
The woman leaned over the mysterious man’s unconscious body. “Oh dear.” She whispered. Her name was Cyra and she had been going to draw water from the well when she had seen this poor soul. Blood soaked through the man’s white shirt. “Oh dear, oh dear.” She murmured She quickly ran over to the well and scooped some water out with a pail. She ran back over to him and poured some water down his slightly parted lips. Then she splashed his face with more water. The man’s eyes flickered open.
Jack awoke from pitch blackness to feel wet liquid pouring down his face. Jack coughed up a bunch of water. A woman stood in front of him. She had long dark blonde hair, her eyes shone a bright jade color, her skin was milky white and smooth, and she had a light pink silk dress on that swirled around her heels. “Are you okay?” She asked. A moan slipped from his lips as much as he tried to hold it back. Then black clouds surrounded his vision and he blacked out again.
Cyra watched as the man fell back unconscious. Cyra pursed her lips anxiously. “Oh dear, oh dear.” Just then someone called her name. “Cyra! Cyra there you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you. You’re not supposed to just wander off alone, you know.” A man called. He had slicked back greasy dark blonde hair, dark green eyes, and as he ran toward her his black cloak flowed around him. He wore black clothes. His name was Cyrus and he was her twin brother. “Where have you been and-” He stopped speaking when he saw Jack on the ground. “Who is he? Cyra you know we have to stay away from strangers!” Cyrus said, eyeing Jack with a disgusted look. “But Cyrus…he’s injured!” Cyra argued. Cyrus raised a eyebrow. “So?” Cyra glared at him. “We have to h e l p!!” She cried. Cyrus sighed loudly and exaggeratedly. “Fine.” He replied. “Good. Can you pick him up?” Cyra asked. “Of course I can! But we could just drag him….” Cyrus trailed off. “Cyrus!” Cyra’s eyes flashed with anger as she glared at her brother. “Okay, okay.” Cyrus said, giving in. “….how did you find him anyway?” Cyrus asked. “I went to draw water from the well and then I saw his body. It looked like it had been washed to shore or something.” Cyra replied. “You weren’t drawing water from the well were you? You were wandering off from the castle and then you decided to come her and get water so that you would have a excuse to tell Nora and William weren’t you?” Cyrus asked. Cyra’s face blushed. “Oh just pick him up!” She exclaimed. Cyrus smirked. He bent down and picked up Jack limp body. “Geez loize! This guy is HEAVY!” Cyrus exclaimed. “What do you mean?” Cyra questioned. “Usually men aren’t this heavy. Now where are we taking him?” Cyrus asked. “The castle of course. To see Nora.” Cyra said. Cyrus sighed. “Ok. But I’ll need your help carrying him. He weighs almost a ton!” Cyrus gasped, trying to carry Jack.
