Chapter 46 ~the horrors of the swamp~
(No chapters in modded creatures I’m skipping them)
Nash and the serpents followed the river west, towards the amargasaurus camp. It was quiet and uneventful until they reached a swamp “I don’t like the lookss of thiss place…” Fin said. “Me neither, but we have to crosss it.” Seascale said. They entered the swamp, it was muddy and humid in the swamp and it smelled, well.. like a swamp… Lucky the serpents felt right at home in the water and they were great swimmers, they held their arms and legs to their sides and slithered like sea snakes through the murky water. Nash flew overhead, dodging the vines and branches of mangrove trees. “It’s quiet, too quiet…” Nash said ominously. “Yess it iss..” Seascale said. They stopped moving for a second and waited, then out of nowhere a kaprosuchus leapt out of the water at nash, it grabbed him and tackled him to the ground, he struggled to unsheathe his sword but when he got it out he stuck the kapro in the head, instantly killing it. He climbed out of its jaws and said, “Watch out, there could be more of them.” The serpents swam around the area and saw none, so they carried on. They hadn’t gone to far when a phiomia ran out of the forest. he looked sick. “Help… me..” he said, then he dropped to the ground and a juvenile rhynio burst out of his side.
(I was gonna say larva/pupa but apparently those are both before/during insects have metamorphosis and look like the adults. And Rhyniognatha babies in ark are just tiny adults already.. kinda lazy if you ask me 🙄)
It flew at Fin viciously and Nash glided down sword in hand and sliced the creature down the middle. “I hate Rhyniognathas.” Nash said. They were about done with the swamp and made haste to get out, but there were many other challenges they faced on the way such as; sarcosuchus, more kaprosuchus, rabid onycs, piranhas, swarms of bugs, etc etc. but the worst of these came for them when they reached the center of the swamp, where the mangroves grew to be entire stories high, and the fog was dense, the bloodstalker grabbed a serpent in it’s nasty claws and by the time they could slay the beast it had already finished with the serpent. Fin and the serpent called Coralfang carried the body so they could give him a proper burial. The serpents came to this ark as a squad of four. Now they were a trio. When they exited the swamp they dug a hole and Fang, (Coralfangs nickname) found a large rock, he used his knife and carved “Barnacle, loving father and friend. Rest in the deep.” The serpents filled the grave with rocks and water, as was the sea serpent way, then they placed the body in the hole, they covered the grave with long stones. And placed the carved stone on the top. Many random creatures noticed what they were doing and offered their condolences, Seascale came up to Fang who was sitting besides the grave, “I’m sorry, I know he was your friend. he was to all of us. But you most of all.” “What am I going to tell his kids…” Fang said. “Tell them, he was a hero.” Seascale replied. “If we ever even get back to the other serpents..” Fang said. “we will, I’ll make sure of it.” Seascale said, “And we won’t lose anyone else along the way…”

Chapter 46: Identity
Part 2/2
“Yeah. They were.”
“That’s definitely weird. From what I’ve seen, they’re solitary. Not pack hunters.”
As they reached the pavilion, they sat down at a table and Maddox began to rub his hands together quickly.
“Listen, Loki. This place doesn’t exactly follow the rules of nature,” Maddox stated, “So maybe you’ve seen Carnotaurus alone, but it won’t always go that way, right? Besides, I think there was something off about them. They had glowing orange eyes.”
“Woah…”
Snow crunched behind them, and Loki turned around to see Mr. Mo walking up to them. Maddox looked over at a few big looking dudes, and nudged Loki.
“Hey. I gotta bounce. You have fun with Mr. Mo, alright?”
Maddox got up from his seat and began to walk over to the big guys and sat next to them. Talking to them about something. They nodded in affirmation, and didn’t bother engaging with Loki.
“Sup Mr. Mo,” Loki said as Mr. Mo took a seat. He was carrying two pieces of cooked meat, the smell drifting to Loki’s nose and making his mouth water. The meat was still right on the bones. Mr. Mo gave him a meat stick, and Mr. Mo took a gargantuan bite out of his meat.
“Morning. How was your sleep?” Mr. Mo asked Loki, “I hope the… situation that happened yesterday didn’t ruin it.”
“It actually went alright,” Loki said, “it wasn’t that bad. I mean, it reeked but I got used to it.”
“Heh, nice,” Mr. Mo replied softly. He rubbed the scar across his left eye. Then, he grumbled in annoyance and took another bite out of his meal.
“So, uh, I heard what you did back there. Pretty impressive being able to do it all on your own!” Loki chuckled. Loki continued to stare at the scar. It looked much more gruesome up close. And a lot bigger too.
“Ya know it’s rude to stare,” Mr. Mo grumbled as his eyes darted to Loki. Loki looked away, a bead of sweat dripping down his face.
“Sorry Mr. Mo.”
Mr. Mo sighed.
“That’s not my real name,” he eerily answered, “It’s Danny Guy. My father named me after himself… the stubborn coward.”
“So, uh, should I call you just Mr. Guy then?”
“Absolutely not,” he sternly replied, “Call me Mr. Ma. After my mother’s maiden name. At least she cared about me enough to try to, to try to-”
Mr. Ma stopped and prevented himself from speaking any further. He let out a deep breath and continued to speak.
“My father ain’t a good guy, Loki. He put me through something similar like this. Out in the wilderness with no one to help me except myself. And all in the name for his freak project. His stupid book that can burn,” Mr. Ma exclaimed with hatred in his voice, “He’s the reason my wife-”
Mr. Ma stopped and shook his head.
“He put me through that test three times. Once in middle school, the second time in high school, and the third time as a teacher. I tried everything I could to escape the cycle. Fighting back, running, but here we are.”
Mr. Ma continued.
“It’s how I got my scar. The first time, I was being chased by a Raptor with a red glow. It was stronger than usual. It pounced on me and- I cried out for help. For someone to stop the pain, to stop the beast. But nobody came. Not even my father. And I’ll always hate him for that.”
Loki couldn’t help but frown at Mr. Ma’s story. He had been through so much… and still Mr. Ma took the time to support some hooligans who couldn’t even bother helping him out.
“I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through, Mr. Ma.”
“No. You shouldn’t be,” Mr. Ma replied earnestly. He looked up at the sky, “My father should be putting me through this.”
Just then, Dr. Aston approached. The bags under his eyes were beginning to fade away, but he still had that daze on his face that made him look drowsy.
“Mr. Mo, the Parasaur turrets have detected a massive target approaching our settlement. I think we should investigate it right now.”
Loki’s face turned white.
“What if- What if it’s those Knowers that hail from the river near the Redwoods?”
Mr. Ma got up from his seat.
“Let’s go check it out.”
Mr. Ma and Loki headed to the border of the settlement and saw the target Dr. Aston was talking about. A Tyrannosaurus frolicking through the snow, its dark white skin blended in with the rest of the environment.
“A Tyrannosaurus…” Mr. Ma said with a smirk, “This is a good opportunity for a new, powerful tame.”
Mr. Ma turned to Loki.
“What do you say? Let’s tame this bad boy up!”

Chapter 46: Identity
Part 1/2
It was the day of graduation. Soon Loki and all his peers of Terran High would be graduating and becoming true adults. They’d create their own identity, their own destiny. And Mr. Mo and Aurora were standing on the stage ahead, Aurora already had finished her speech. Now a countdown had begun, signaling the end of their schoolhood.
“TEN! NINE! EIGHT!”
The soon-to-be adults began to chant the countdown along with Mr. Mo. Loki joined along too, a smile growing on his face as he pumped his fist in the air and grabbed his graduation cap with his other hand.
“SEVEN! SIX! FIVE!”
The screaming grew louder and louder to the point that Loki’s ears began to hurt.
“FOUR! THREE! TWO! ONE-”
Suddenly Mr. Mo let out a loud gasp of pain, as he fell to his knees, clutching his wrist. Everyone stopped the countdown, and whispers began to radiate throughout the crowd.
“Uh oh. What happened to him?” someone asked. Loki’s eyes turned to the mysterious boy. He was wearing a hiker’s outfit and a straw hat, and had a worried look on his face. With him were three other people with different outfits. One wore a black leather jacket and blue jeans, another was wearing an apron and black dress shirt with tan khakis, and the last wore a white sleeveless jacket with a red shirt underneath and blue shorts. For some reason these four didn’t have graduation robes on.
“That doesn’t matter! We need to find Ben so we can surprise him! He’s gotta be somewhere in this crowd,” the one with the white jacket exclaimed while having his eyes dart around the crowd.
That didn’t matter to Loki. Mr. Mo had become hurt. Loki began to rush past the crowd and to the stage.
“Mr. Mo!” Loki cried out. With no warning a jolt of pain began to reverberate throughout his left wrist. Loki let out a cry of pain, and soon the rest of his peers began to follow.
The sky above them suddenly began to generate clouds, and the Sun began to move around the sky at an alarming rate. The sky seemed to be generating streaks of red, blue, and green, spinning around in a triangle and aiming right down at them.
Loki could feel his mind slip away and his consciousness fade, as everything turned to black.
And then he woke up on the cold, cold snow…
“Woah,” Loki whispered as his eyes shot open. He was back in his bunk bed, and light poured in from the open doorway into the living quarters. Everyone was gone from bed, presumably outside doing menial tasks for the settlement. He rubbed his green eyes a bit, and sighed. Once again that haunting memory of graduation had come to his dreams. He hated that memory.
“Too much was going on then,” Loki whispered. He clenched his fist, “And why did Mr. Mo fall first? What did any of that mean? Why are we here? Who were those guys without the graduation robes?”
Just then someone walked into the home. Loki turned to see someone unfamiliar to him standing at the doorway. He had a muscular build, and seemed at least six feet tall. He had a deep tan and bronze hair that shined under the light of the torch.
“Loki, you’re finally awake,” he said. It was Maddox, “Breakfast is being served. Mr. Mo’s found quite the hunt today.”
Loki sat up and looked at Maddox.
“So you’re Maddox?”
“Yep. That’s me.”
Loki stretched his arms and let out a yawn, throwing the blanket off him and climbing down the bunk bed’s ladder. He walked up to Maddox, and the two began to walk off to the pavilion.
“So what’s for breakfast today?” Loki asked as he began to fix his long, black hair.
“Carnotaurus,” Maddox responded with a grin, “A pack of three were spotted in the area before you had woken up. And you aren’t gonna believe what happened next; Mr. Mo just walked out the gates, and a few moments later he walked right back in tugging them along like they were dead dogs!”
“What?! Seriously? So you’re saying he killed them all by himself and just dragged it in like it was nothing?”
“That’s right. Y’know he’s stronger than he lets on. And I managed to catch a glimpse of how he did it… He seems to really know his stuff. Not a single one managed to maim him. It was as if he’d done this many times.”
“Well that is surprising,” Loki added, “But what’s weird is the Carnotaurus. You said they were in a pack of three?”

Chapter sixteen: Willow.
“Hey!” The person exclaimed angrily. Hailey spun around with a Sorry expression on her face to see Willow getting up from the floor. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to knock you over.” Hailey apologized. Willow scoffed. “Save it. Like I care what if you are “sorry”.” Hailey blinked. “What do you mean?” She asked. Willow rolled her eyes. “Oh don’t try that with me! I know who you are and what you are. Pretending to be a innocent little princess who keeps forgetting stuff. Yeah right, you think you can get your way no matter what and if anyone tries to stop you you’ll tell your father and he’ll straighten them out. Well I for one don’t believe your nonsense!” Willow spat. Hailey raised her eyebrows, not understanding what Willow was talking about. Willow took her confusion for tears. “Oh you gonna cry you wittle baby? You gonna go tell daddy? Go on! Go tell daddy!” Willow mocked. Hailey finally realizing that Willow was mocking her opened her mouth to say something. But instead of telling her to back off or something, something else slipped out. Guttural growls, whines, and barks slipped from Hailey’s lips. Willow laughed. “Wow, you’re more pathetic than I thought!” Willow said laughing. Hailey Reyes to speak again but more growls, whines, and barks came. But this time the end result was different. The saber wolves perked up their heads and pranced over to Hailey and Willow. They raised their hackles and growled at Willow. *Woof!* *woof!* (sorry I couldn’t think of a saber wolves barking noise)One of them began barking loudly. Willow looked shocked but she continued to mock. “Aww how did you do that? Did daddy teach you how to do that?” One of the saber wolves lunged at Willow teeth bared. Willow was to surprised to move. “ENOUGH!” Marvelo bellowed. He held out his hand and the saber wolf went flying. It hit the wall hard. It’s whine filled the air. The other saber wolves shook their heads as if broken from a trance. “WHAT is going on?” Marvelo demanded angrily. Hailey cleared her throat and tested her voice. “I-I ha-have n-no i-ide-a.” Hailey stuttered. Willow scowled. “See what I mean? I was right! Always pretending to be innocent! She attacked me for Pete’s sake!” Willow exclaimed. Daniel waltzed over. “Hey, hey listen up.” Daniel said. He put his arm around Willow’s shoulders. “Will, it’s okay. I’m sure she wasn’t trying to hurt you. She was just…um…demonstrating something? Anyway she’s fine. I should know…I’m her trainer remember?” Daniel said. He squeezed Willow’s shoulders comfortingly. Willow relaxed slightly and turned to face Daniel. She reached out and caressed Daniels face. “I remember. I just think..she should get another trainer so I’ll have you back to myself.” Willow said. Marvelo got in between them. “Knock it off love birds. Nobody is getting a new trainer. Now all of you need to come with me. The master wants to talk to y’all before a mission.”

Escape?
Forest studied the young Terror bird from beak to tail, calculating. He had black feathers and a purple and tan striped neck, a sharp beak, and an intelligent, superior gaze. Help them escape? Was he for real?
“Really?” Nyx gasped, staring at the Terror bird. “Really? Really really?”
“Yes,” said the Terror bird.
“How could we trust you?” Crimson demanded. “W—we don’t even know who you are!”
The Terror bird inclined his head respectfully. “I am Prince Coal, son of Emperor Avalanche. I understand your concerns.”
“A royal,” Nyx whispered. “I’m the daughter of the Shadowmane chief.”
The Prince turned his keen gaze to her. “You must be very proud.” He said. She nodded, smiling.
“Why would you help us escape?” Spark asked him, narrowing her eyes thoughtfully.
“Because I don’t believe you deserve being locked in here,” Prince Coal said. “And I don’t trust Jethezzar.”
“Who?” Forest asked.
There was clang form somewhere outside the prisons, and Coal ducked his head, startled. “Jethezzar is my fathers greatest ally,” he said in a low whisper. “He’s promised us everything we could ever want, and is the one who warned us about you in the first place.”
Forests head was reeling. The Terror birds ally—the one he’d heard about. It was all finally coming together.
The Prince went on. “But ever since I laid eyes on him, I knew he was keeping things from us. And from what I’ve heard, he hates you. If I don’t get you out of here soon, Jethezzar will make sure you never see the outside world again.”
Forest swallowed the lump in his throat. The idea of never being free from stone walls again… was terrifying now that he’d seen a clear sky. Or trees. Or the stars at night and all the shapes clouds could form into.
“Why risk it?” Spark challenged the Prince. “Why try at all? If we’re caught escaping, with you helping us, you’d surely be thrown in prison as well.”
“I doubt it,” Coal said blankly.
“What, think you can charm your way out of it, mister But-I’m-A-Prince?” Rust asked sarcastically.
The young Terror bird stared at him, looking genuinely befuddled.
“No?” Rust asked. “Never heard a joke before—you know what, never mind.” He shot a crooked smile at Forest. “Royals, am I right?”
Forest laughed. It had been a while since Rust smiled or cracked a joke. Rust had been rather quiet since they were captured. Forest was glad Rust was coming back to his normal self again.
“Anyways,” said the Prince slowly, “if I may continue, I need to get you out of here soon.”
“How soon?” Spark asked.
“Very soon.”
“Alright,” Spark said. “Let’s do it.”
“You sure we can trust him?” Crimson muttered.
Spark thought about that for a moment, before saying, “well, it can’t get any worse for us.”
Rust nodded. “Go big, or go home.”
“Oh dear,” Nyx whispered. Forest nudged her reassuringly. He shared her worries, too.
Escaping was the last thing he wanted to do. But if Coal was right about this ally… they had no choice.
“OK,” Prince Coal said. “Get some rest, you’re gonna need as much energy as possible.”
“Tomorrow at moonhigh. Be ready.”
So, I got a gold egg once. I was in the Southern Islets when I got attacked by three of these. I killed two when my like broke. I hit the last one on the head with my torch, and it pooped out a good egg. This is a strategy for good eggs. Hit it in the face with your torch.
