If you’re on a new gen console and can plug in a USB keyboard, you can use E to tame.

to tame you need a crop where you can plant and get rockarot seeds and wait you need 50 rockarots and find a equus if you havent tamed one before go to pursuits and do tame equus and there you go!

If your looking to find a epuus the center map has a moon shaped island that has a epuus spawn on it.Valgro in the white cliffs you can find epuus everywhere. please keep in mind that epuus are rare and don't spawn often.

if you tame a maewing (fairly easy) and set it to follow (lowest distance) and then get on the equus you want to tame, it will pretty quickly get stuck in the head of the maewing, giving you a perfectly safe and stationary horse to tame!

the maewing can also draw aggro and fend off any nearby enemies that may spot you

(if you want to get the equus unstuck while you’re still taming it, try jumping a few times)

At least on Xbox, if you feed it anything, for like 2 seconds afterwards it'll let you get on to start the taming mini game. Not sure if this works on PS, but it probably works on all consoles.
