#thoughtfulnames For the Equus, “Svadilfari.” In Norse mythology the man commissioned to build the palace of the gods requested the sun, moon, and the right hand of Freya as payment. Odin agreed, on the impossible condition that he finish the task within six months or receive no boon. What he did not know was that the man had a supernatural stallion named Svadilfari who he harnessed to the task. Within days the entire palace was almost built, much to the alarm of all the gods, so Loki changed form into a mare and lured Svadilfari away. The task was not completed within six months, because Loki led the powerful horse on a gallop around the world. Freya’s hand remained intact, and no payment was given to the man. Svadilfari became a wild horse, as fast as the wind itself and as fierce as fire.
