Tips & Strategies

What are tips for dodo? Tips and strategies for dodo in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
When my wood base got raided by people with Gigi’s I wissled attack target on a gigs and my 49 dodos killed it in 5 seconds I became their tribe leader
I recommend breeding these guys for size as soon as possible. They unlock cool new abilities as they get bigger!
Size 1.55: now drops dodo feathers off its back, used for crafting items like sail plume, dodo decimater, and dodo cultivator
Size 3.00: you can now ride them without saddles, and equip dodo decimater and dodo cultivator.
How to breed for size:
Select biggest male and biggest female dodo
Build a 1x1 pen (doesn’t need roof)
Put the dodos in the pen
Enable wandering on both dodos (tap skull icon in top left corner)
Wait
Pick up fertile dodo egg
Make campfires (at least 2)
Fuel campfires (at least 20 fuel per fire)
Light campfires
Drop egg next to (not on) campfires
Wait for egg to hatch
Claim baby (skull Icon)
Feed baby (they eat a lot)
Wait for baby to grow up
The new dodo will be anywhere in between his parents sizes, most likely on the edge, with slight variation (size 1.00 and size 1.50 would have a baby of size range 0.95-1.55, most likely bigger than both parents)
Other breeding facts:
Mating bar: at 100%, a fertile egg will be laid
Maturation bar: at 100% it will progress to next stage of growth. (Baby, juvenile, adolescent, adult)
Imprinting bar: increases strength when working for you (whistling, riding)
Wants ____ in __:__ giving it what it wants increases imprinting
Fun fact: did you know, you can get twins and triplets from eggs? The chances of this happening vary by species.
Hope you find this helpful!

A day interviewing Dinos: dodo
The dodo, sometimes called "the ancient chicken" was a animal that first appeared in 1507 and went extinct in 1681. One of the most popular quotes for the dodo is "Dodo Tossing, Sport of Champions!" You can tame them with plants and kibble, you can't ride them, but they can ride you on your shoulder and dodos are breed-able. They are found in the beach, hill, and forest biome. Dodos are an easy food source for players and dinosaurs. In Ark Survival Mobile, they will occasionally attack if they are attacked or their egg is stolen. Dodos occasionally get stuck on driftwood on the beach. Dodos have a big variety of colors, they have 20 colors that can be found on their body, 6 on their face, 10 on their beak, 10 on their forehead, neck and feet, 21 on their head, and 11 on their wings. In mobile, they drop a dodo trophy, and a dodo feather if the dodo is size 1.56x or bigger. In primitive, they drop fresh poultry, hide, and feathers, in the other versions, they drop raw meat and hide. The best places to find dodos are on the beach, the second best in the forest, and third, the hills of the island. The fastest food to tame a dodo is with one basic kibble, for a level one it takes 22 seconds, all other food options take 48 seconds or more. To tame a level 30, it takes one basic kibble and it takes 22 seconds. A 60 requires 2 of them and it will take 43 seconds. A 90 requires 2 basic kibble and it will take 43 seconds. A 120 takes 2 of the basic and will take 43 seconds. And 150 will take 3 basic kibble and that will take 1 minute and 4 seconds. A dodo's peck deals 5 damage. Hitting a dodo on the head will do triple the damage than the body, causing the dodo to be killed quickly. To kill dodos use a spear, a hit on the head is a one hit kill. Anything as strong or as stronger as a triceratops can kill a dodo in one hit. I recommend not using your spears. A dodo wouldn't be considered a threat. It's predators are the apex predators, dimetrodon, archaeopteryx, lunar biome creatures, amphibious creatures, compies, bosses, and corrupted creatures. A dodo is a worthy tame, they can provide easier gameplay further on in the game than other people who don't have at least one dodo. Some tribes have dodo farms. A dodo farm is when players put their tamed dodos into an enclosed area, then collect their eggs. Another way to get wild dodo eggs is to make a open roofed pen wood quality and above, collect as many females as possible (one male can speed up the process), then drop a tamed oviraptor in the pen that's set to wander. A good way to get a oviraptor is to steal their eggs when both the female and male aren't watching. Dodos are a easy way to get hide for beginners. A C4 can be attached to dodos, that are set to wander, and their air drop it into a enemy tribe's base. Dodos move very fast in the water compared to other land creatures. Setting a dodo to aggressive outside your base makes a good alarm. Dodos are a easy distraction when there is a carnivore outside your base. Dodos can hold a decent amount of items in their inventory, making them living storage. In ARK: Fear Evolved, there is a zombie variant of the dodo that will attack the player. Dodos size 0.8x and smaller cannot be mounted on the player's shoulder. Dodos size 2.4x size and bigger can be ridden. The max dodo size is 3.5x.
Try landing body shots, because they have such low health but take 3x to headshots so you could accidentally kill them
Up this for new players!
Good for soaking and knocking out gigas and titans
by far the deadliest creature you will find in ark- avoid at all costs!
Come on now, who would ever say no to a couple hundred dodo. Yes, some "pro" ARK players will say, "UGH WHY WOULD YOU TAME THAT" but come on now, they make very good pet companions and their eggs are good food. Also, it's kinda fun to watch a pack of angry dodos chase down some poor dilo or something... SICK EM BOYS AND/OR GIRLS
Dodos are a pretty useful farm animal:
1. Build a 3x3 box or pen, get 10-ish dodos, 1 male, oviraptor and dung beetle and put them all inside
2. Set the dodos to mate, oviraptor and dung beetle to wander
Dodos have a chance to lay an egg every time they poop, giving you lots for kibble. The oviraptor will auto pickup eggs, and the dung beetle will pick up the poop giving you fertilizer and oil
You can also hatch fertilized eggs and kill the babies for prime meat. Yummy!
To tame a dodo you need a couple berries and a wooden club. You knock it unconscious and put the berries in its inventory! Ta-da! A dodo!
I will start a dodo army and rage war on all brontos after they killed my para. With the right amount of dodos anything is possible.
FOR WAR DODO BREEDING!!
Ah yes the dodo! Truly a under appreciated tame! Breed them for size! Start out with a regular set of wild tames (usually size .98 or 1.01) ((don’t level them unless you need to, it doesn’t effect the size change)) breed them, hatch em out and raise them. Only keep the ones that go up a size!! Keep doing this! Once they reach around 2.26 they start dropping dodo feathers!! Keep breeding and rotating out the smaller ones!!!once you get to the higher 2s and into the 3s you can start to ride them. Once you hit 3.5 then you can strap on a decimator bit or a cultivator bit and have some fun. ALSO ONCE YOU HIT 3.5 YOU CAN SWIPE DOWN LEFT SIDE (on mobile not sure if it works on others) AND IT WILL DO THE MOVE FROM THE DODO BOSS! THE BUTT SMASH!!
For small shoulder dodos just do the same breeding but only keep the lower numbers so far I’ve had a .06 scale that rides on my shoulder!
Level melee on them once you get the size you like! Raise a army!! Take over!
HELP THERE IS A PACK OF 5 DODOS CHASING ME AND ALL OF THEM ARE AROUND LVL 100 HELP I HAVE NO PROTECTION
