The Arks: Over Heaven (by Ben)
Chapter 42: Filler
“Yummy,” Loki muttered as he took a bite out of his steak. He and Mr. Mo was sitting at a large table that was situated at a pavilion. Many other residents of the snowy settlement were also eating, and all the food had been prepared on a giant grill created by Dr. Aston. Using the plentiful resources of the north (one reason why Mr. Mo settled here), they managed to mine plenty of oil and metal, allowing them to build a fabricator.
Surrounding Loki were many troublemakers, troglodytes, and terrorizers of the innocent. They didn’t have much going for them except bothering others, and hurting people. Although there weren’t many of them at Terran High, they were still plentiful.
“They only turned to Mr. Mo because he was an adult. They had no one else to turn to. Back at Terran High they hated him just because he did his job. Even though THEY were the ones in the wrong,” Loki thought, taking another bite out of his steak, “I wasn’t a Grade-A student. Or a role model like the valedictorian Aurora, but, at least I had something going for me.”
Loki solemnly took a drink from his water jar.
“I’m a little mad that I can’t finish the last chapter since I’ve been brought here. Maybe I’ll find another way to finish it some other time.”
As Loki ate his food he looked at the blue Obelisk which hung over the mountain peak. It looked so ominous and foreboding…
“I know what you’re thinking,” Mr. Mo whispered to Loki, “But I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
“If you’ve never seen anything like it, do you think we should investigate it?” Loki asked.
“No, probably not. There could be lots of danger at a place like that. We’ll have to master the tundra before anything else,” Mr. Mo stated, “Which will be difficult due to the lack of crops.”
As the two eat, Mr. Mo laughs a little.
“Ahh, I find it funny that you of all people are the one I like the most here in this place. The kid with the worst grade in all of 12th grade…”
“Hey don’t bring that up man!” Loki shot back, flustered.
“Aw I’m sorry Loki, ya’ know I didn’t mean it. You’re a smart kid, Loki. I’m glad you’re on my side.”
Mr. Mo clenched his fists again.
“You know, your stories remind me of something…”
Loki stared at the implant that was engraved in Mr. Mo’s wrist. He didn’t know what it did, nor did he know what the implant that he had did. Everyone else did something. Brad could blind people and some other kid could extend his nose whenever he told a lie (something he thought was really cool).
But for some reason, Loki and Mr. Mo’s implants didn’t really serve a purpose.
Darkness soon began to consume the tundras, as the Sun dipped below the horizon. Everyone begins to head off to the cabins to go to sleep, and Loki is last, watching the expansive, snowy plains with wonder. Off in the distance, a pack of wolves roam. Loki smiles at the sight, a reminder of his past stories engraved still in his mind.
With that, Loki headed to bed.
The tale of the shadow phoenixes
Chapter eleven.
Cole could hardly wait for the switcheroo to end. Not only did he want Arianna back but also his toes were hurting. It was clear that Tabitha had NOT been taught to dance. She continued to step on his toes with her heels. And the worst part? The worst part was that she didn’t realize she was stepping on them…or she just didn’t care. Finally, mercifully, the switcheroo ended and Cole caught Arianna.
The ball finally ended. Tom danced with Leah all night long(except for during the switcheroo). He walked her home, still holding hands all the way. Leah seemed like a very nice girl and she liked to talk with Tom. “Yeah, I find Sirens very strange. Do you think they are real?” Leah asked. Tom shrugged. “I wouldn’t doubt it, after all of dinosaurs are real why can’t Sirens be?”
Finally they came to Leah’s house. “Well.. goodnight Tom. I enjoyed our time together.” Leah said sweetly. Tom smiled. “Any time.” Tom replied.
Once Tom reached his house he quietly crept past his parents room and his Jenny’s room up to him and James’ room. He opened the door and closed it behind him. “You’re late.” James said. Tom looked up to see his brother lying on his belly in the top bunk reading. “And YOU are supposed to be studying. I already finished studying…mostly” Tom said smugly. James placed his bookmark carefully in the book, muttering something about “poor Aurora, she’s so lonely.”. “I am.” James said, pointing to his desk. Tom looked at the desk, where a shadow sat reading a book about magical fungi and plants. Tom sighed. “You know that you’re not supposed to use your power like that.”
James smirked. “Yeah, but nobody knows so…who’s gonna tell?” James asked. “Um… I know…so I guess…me.” Tom said. James frowned. “You’re such a tattletale Thomas and to think you’re gonna be a king.” Suddenly they heard footsteps in the hall, heading toward their room. Tom ran over to his bed and opened “magical creatures and where to find them”. James disappeared for a brief second and appeared right where his shadow used to be. Someone knocked on their door. *Knock, knock* “come in.” Tom called. The door opened and a young girl about ten years old stuck her head in. She had long dark red hair and brown eyes. “Mom asked me to make sure that you two were studying and were home from the ball.” Jenny said. “Okay, thanks Jenny.” James said. “Bye.” She said, beginning to shut the door. Then she stopped and ran in. She hugged her brothers goodnight. “Goodnight.” She said, the hurried out the door, closing it behind her. “We’d better head to bed.” Tom said. James nodded. “Okay, you don’t tell mom and dad about me using my power to study and I won’t tell them about you staying out past our curfew to hang out with Leah.” James said. Tom blushed but nodded. “Fine. Deal. James disappeared again and reappeared on his bunk. “Good night.”
“Good night.”
Hope y’all are enjoying! I’ll be working on the next chapter!

Under the waves: chapter nine
The megachelon surfaced from the water, moving silently to the light blue sand shore. Almost as soon as they settled down, an enormous red crystal wyvern with a skull atop her head landed, fuming. “What did you do? Do you know the danger you just put us in?!” She roared. “Calm down, Queen Ruby. It had to be done.” The megachelon said coolly. “You just told one of the strongest of the others the prophecy that they shouldn’t have been told untill they learned their powers.” Ruby snarled. “The portals have been open already, and creatures from the different worlds are already going through. They should be prepared.” Said the megachelon. “And what about the other? Trench, was his name?” The queen hissed, inches from the megachelon’s face. “He is part of the prophecy as well.” The megachelon said. “They will find each other, and they must know why the humans are hunting them.” They continued. Ruby snarled in response. If she was a fire wyvern, you would be able to see the smoke pouring out of her snout and ears. Suddenly the megachelon pressed they’re eyes closed, scowling. “Well, I can’t stop you from doing it. If I killed you, the entire isles would fall into chaos. But it won’t be as easy as you think it will be.” They said, taking on a more hostile tone. Ruby gave a sly grin. “That’s the annoying part about your powers. You know what I’ll do to you before I do it.” Suddenly, Ruby was latched onto the megachelon’s back, nipping at they’re spinal cord. The megachelon hissed and bucked the queen off it’s back, before nipping her wing. “You knew this would happen eventually, slate.” Ruby said. Then, before slate could even blink, queen Ruby had slit a wide, bloody smile across slate’s throat.

Chapter 14 ~the cave of the hunter~
“Th-they ARE carnivores.. GET THEMM!” The amargasaurus yelled insanely, the sea serpents slithered away on all fours and the avians flew away as fast as their wings could carry them, the amargasaurus’s spikes glowed orange and shot out at the group, near-missing them and setting the forest floor aflame. “These guys are fast, for sauropods!” Nash said. “Yes they are!” Skyla said. “How do we lose em!” “Umm, OH yes now I remember, the amargasaurus are afraid of the caves!” “Why?” “They believe the artifacts are the prized possessions of some great predator or something!” “Wow these guys just keep getting kookier..” they continued fleeing for a couple minutes until Seascale said; “there! a cave!” They fled towards it as fast as they could. “Oh NO you d-don’t!!” The amargasaurus yelled, he shot a spike at them and it hit right next to Seascale, blasting fire at him, “Agh!” He cried, his men immediately slithered back to him and carried him into the cave under heavy fire. “AHGHGSHSGISHSNAGZGAHAFAGAJAGGSJAVAYAYSBSFGAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!” The lead amargasaurus yelled, then he bashed his neck into one of the other amargas for no reason..
“Now what? We can’t go back outside, what do we do?” Nash said. “This is the cave of the hunter, it has two entrances, but we’ll have to go through the entire cave to get to the exit..” Skyla said. “Oh lovely..” Nash said. “What do we do about Sseasscale? He needss medical attention, severe burnss and a cut,.. he may bleed out..” a sea serpent said. “There are some herbs in this cave that could help, but they are further in, do what you can to slow the blood flow then we must move.” Skyla said. “So what dangers await us in this cave?” Nash said. “Spiders and bats mostly.” Skyla said. “What bats? Big or little?” Nash said. “Hmm bigger than us.” “Human or gigantopithicus sized?” “Uhh human.” “Ooh not good my friend Jaxz told me tales of that breed vicious rabid creatures.” “Yes pretty much, how about the bigger ones? Are they dangerous?” “Ohh ya, well usually, my friend Jaxz is actually one of them and he’s a good bat, can’t say the same for any other desmodus I’ve met..” “hmm maybe I’ll have to meet this “good bat” someday.”
The Obelisk
-Chapter 32-
They had been traveling some time.
A day had passed since they found the rune, and Runheimr towered over them, glistening with mossy redwood trees that looked taller than any plant Forest had seen so far.
The sack felt heavy on his shoulder as they climbed down a small slope, clawing carefully acrossed the loose rocks in the ground.
“This is where my journey ends,” Needles said, stepping down the slope. “I wish you the best of luck.”
“You really have to leave?” Rust asked nervously. Forest felt the same—having a giant, age-riddled Velanosaur with them was actually a bit comforting—nothing would dare attack someone so menacing.
“Yes,” Needles said ruefully, nodding his spiky head.
Forest fumbled with the sack to pull it off his shoulder—bit Needles shook his head. “You can keep it. Maybe the scrolls inside will be useful to you. And you need something to hold that rune.”
“So now what?” Spark asked.
“Find your fifth carnivore,” Needles began. “Complete your mission. One of the scrolls has Peeri’s prophecy written out—it will help guide you.”
Forest bristled with excitement. A prophecy! A real prophecy, about them—he couldn’t wait to read it.
Crimson coughed, and they all turned to her. “Erm… good luck to you too, Needles.”
“Apparently we could trust him after all!” Rust exclaimed, elbowing Crimson in the side. “Yeah, good luck on whatever your doing.”
“Goodbye, little heroes.”
As Needles slowly stomped away, the juveniles all glanced at each other.”
“Umm,” Forest stammered— now what…?
“Let’s go!” Rust roared with enthusiasm. He bolted for the Dark, looming Forest that whispered with noise as if filled with secrets. “Woo-hoo! Runheimr, here we come!!”
Filled with excitement from his friends radiant glee, Forest followed. “To the fifth carnivore!”
“Which we have no idea who it will be!” Crimson added, a bit scornfully. She ran after them.
“I always wanted to see this place!” Spark roared, catching up.
As the four carnivores jumped for the forest, they had complete forgotten… that eyes may be watching them.
Watching their every move.
But not here… surely.. where Needles had said it should be safe… right?
