Tips & Strategies

What are tips for desmodus? Tips and strategies for desmodus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
If you want a high level Desmo, tame a little dino like a moshop and leave him in passive next to a Desmo for it to pick it. Do it some time and it's your turn to be picked
When you are using blood packs to tame it use a snow owl to heal you
Always take much more blood packs so if some else desmosus attatck you it will eat blood packs and not you.
These are probably the best flier for taming for one reason: You can shoot while flying. And unlike tapejara, you do it from the drivers seat.
Juice stamina to be sure you can stay in the air, keep yourself hovering out of reach and tranq away. If it runs, you can chase it down. Smaller animals can be carried (but not as much as argy can). You could probably chase down most fleeing fliers too. Great for me as I cannot seem to get traps to work.
This is without thinking about the elixir which will save you a ton of time on taming.
Stock up on blood bags.
Grab some parachutes and some sleeping bags ( I usually bring 2 stacks of both)
Have the blood bags on you use the parachute as soon as you are picked up it will stay deployed until your feet hit the ground. (Works best with two players)
I found the best way to get blood and meat with this guy is fined a bronto and get right on the top of the back and it can't hit you there well the ones I tested didn't.and the blood can be used to farm blood stalkers cus you can put them all around your home perfrably cave and they can pull people off there tames .and you can heal on the fly with all the blood packs
To get high efficiency you need to let it eat a lot of blood.
Prepare a few hundred blood packs get a tame they can grab like mochops put the blood packs into its inventory and lead the desmodus to it. They will grab it and then let it fall down and fly around for a bit u till they grab it again. This will take a while every time it grabs it the taming efficiency will rise by a few percent. Sometimes the desmodus will fly to far and not go back then you need to guide it back to the mochops. Once taming efficiency is at 100% you need to let it grab you to finish the taming. For this it's good to have blood packs in your inventory and maybe a parachute as they will let you fall down once they are tamed.
Waterfall cave is an easy one. Get in on a dino, tease out the bats, lose aggro range to separate them then come back on foot and let any level pick you. Surrounding area is relatively safe.
Even easier when you have a bat. Do the same thing but this time kill the low level ones when you’re out of the cave and then let your high level bat pick you. Good luck and don’t forget parachutes!

Baby Desmodus WON’T eat cooked meat, so don’t put that in your feeding trough or they will die like mine😞
Glider suit beats out Parachutes ALL DAY when you're dropped while taming - then you can steer them towards a safer point or even get away if you were grabbed by others than the ones you want to tame
They do not eat cooked meat; even as babies on a Maewing - use preserving salts to keep raw meat and blood bags on Maewing longer with less spoil, for babies
To tame with 100% effectiveness, use a daeodon with a high level of health + turn on passive heeling + put meat in it. Whistle a Deodon into Desmodus' aggro zone and watch it reach 100% efficiency, then mount a Deodon with Bloodpacks in your inventory and tame it. Sometimes you need to feed the Deodon to Desmodus a few more times.
