Use a torch or other melee weapon to kill the swarm, with fire and a Beelzebufo being especially effective; ranged attacks are unreliable. If targeted, move into water or retreat on foot, but watch for aquatic predators, and protect crops and baby creatures since swarms can rapidly damage them.
