Don’t need a trap they don’t do much damage

The Argentavis is one of my top favorite creatures in ARK. These flying beauties have a 50 percent weight reduction on many items such as stone and metal, which makes them good rss traveling packs. So, let's see how to tame these creatures!

1. GET PREPARED. Items like Tranquilizing ARROWS, BOWS, RIFLES, and DARTS are how you will knock the argentavis out. Make sure to have a pack of RAW MEAT or PRIME MEAT meat with you. If you are capable of making SUPERIOR KIBBLE for this creature, it is best you do so.

2. KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS! This part of the taming is one of the most ESSENTIAL while taming anything. It is best to tame a flyer in OPEN, FLAT AREAS or just where it is NOT DENSLY POPULATED WITH OTHER HOSTILE CREATURES.

3. BUILD A TRAP. Any type of LARGE AVIAN like the Argentavis can be trapped by using 4 STONE DINOSAUR GATES and 2 DINOSAUR GATE DOORS. Place them next to eachother as if you were making a large cage. Make a SMALL GAP enough for YOU to FIT THROUGH, but not the ARGENTAVIS to fit through.

4. FIND AN ARGENTAVIS. Once you have built your trap, look for an argentavis you would like to have. Don't worry if the ancient bird is far away from the cage. LURE the Argentavis to it by GOING UP TO IT and INCH AWAY AS IT FOLOWS YOU. TRY NOT TO GET HIT.

5. TRAP IT. Now that the Argentavis is close enough to the trap, OPEN ONE OF THE GATES for the bird to follow you through. CLOSE THE GATE right before the future tame is inside.

6. TRANQ CALCULATION. Depending on the LEVEL you want to tame, you may need more powerful or less powerful tools to knock it out.

Level 1-50: Can use a slingshot or tranq arrows and narco berries (BRING EXTRA stones or arrows beyond the argentavis level IN CASE YOU MISS)

Level 51-150: Use Tranq arrows or Tranquilizing darts with narcotics (Made in SMITHY and used with a LONGNECK RIFLE)

Level 150-200: Tranq arrows or Tranquilizing darts with narcotics and bio toxin (From the electric jellyfish)

Level 201 and above: Use Tranquilizing darts ONLY with narcotics and bio toxin. Using a bow with tranq arrows are ENOUGH TO KILL the high level creature bc the TORPOR WILL BE HIGHER and you may bring the birds health DOWN TO ZERO before it PASSES OUT.

Once you have done all this, put some meat or kibble in their inventory and soon enough, that bird will be yours! The argentavis saddle is unlocked at level 62, but before that you can use it as a guardian and a resource carrier for you when collecting stuff. They can be used in battle too, with an advantage of flight by attacking their victims from above. Once these fellas eat a carcass left over, they gain an effect that will boost their health and regenerates rapidly if hit by something (BOOST LASTS FOR 15 SECONDS). If you have made it this far, then nice! You now know how to make an argy army!

“ Mine won’t breed, I got male and female gave female pheromone and they won’t breed. I rlly need help!” Did you enable them both on wander? That’s how you breed. I’d suspect (I’ve never worked with pheromones before) it’s the same no matter how much pheromone you give them

While taming one 3 savers spawned IN IT and in the ground under and ate while it slept never trust ark

Argy trap (also works for griffin):

Takes 4 stone gate frames, one reinforced gate, and 3 stone pillars. Pick a spot that is flat and also away from any predators, including compy and dilo. Face going the same way you plan to fly them in, so that gate opens in. Place first frame then slowly walk forward until the frame isn't snapping at weird angles and place it, this gets the spacing right. After placing 4th frame, put pillar right in the middle of it, then stack the other 2. Now walk backwards until you can place the gate in the first frame, I place a torch out front a ways to locate more easily. You now have a perfect Argy trap.

Using pteranodon, agro the Argy then lead in low and slow, opening the gate when you reach it. Pteranodon can slip right through but Argy cannot. Land and hop off, while Argy stays agro on your mount, run back and close the gate.

For taming, shoot with tranqs to partially torpor, sleep, then KO, balm, and rapid tame with raw prime meat (stego is my goto).

Run and shoot easiest way to do it :)

A trick I used early on in the game is with a paracer. Have it on pacive and stand under it. Most if the time the argie won't be able to fly under it, and even if it does it will be a while before it manages to again.

A well bred argy can take down wyverns! Get a high level imprinted argy and attack the shoulder of the wyvern until it dies. Its turning radius is rather poor so it will have trouble hitting you with its breath.

Notice:

*Poison wyverns may simply kill you right off the argy with their poison spit.

*Ice wyverns may slow you down and break free of the shoulder attack.

*I have never attempted this against crystal wyverns, their turning radius is smaller so your results may vary.

*Do not attempt against multiple wyverns at the same time.

Use wooden gates the argentavis does little damage

When about to fight a big dino kill a small creature near by and eat when your argent is on low health

This is a mount you should tame as early on as you can!! Amazing for metal a good easy spot is the rocks in ocean (Viking bay or any oceans)

Captain fattdog has a cheap and easy to build trap. Also feeding an argy just before you knock it out drops its food by alot

If you want to carry a human carried creature with an Argy, simply pick up your beetle/dodo/small handheld tame and then mount your Argy while carrying the creature in your hands. This works. It’s how I got my dung beetles home before cryopods existed.

I need an argie for getting another wyvern egg but I don't know where they are lol

You can put an argie trap on a raft for ludicrously easy taming. Just remember to build it off to the side a little.

These things are one of the, if not the most, necessary mounts in the game. A high level argy with high weight can get carry just about 2000 raw metal, and can fly all the way back to your base without any breaks as it has high stamina. My lvl 293 has taken down 2 alpha rexes, 5 rexes, 1 alpha raptor, 6 spinos... the list is long. 7000 health 3000 stam 2700 weight and 800 melee. BEASTS

You can make a trap by puting five gate way and puting a door in the first one and in the last one. Then you make him follow you into the trap and you close the doors. You can get out of the trap by the spaces between the gates. And you just tame it in the trap.

If you have a trap(one with a ramp into and dinogate out) put temporary roofs on top and lead in through dinosaurs gate(be sure to close it once its in) then tame at your will.

I think the game maker should have the argentavis be a true flying mount

If only they weren't so slow I would honestly pick them over any other flyer
