You don’t actually need a crossbow with tranqs for this— just a normal bow. Try to shoot it in the head in rapid succession whilst walking backwards. (Their slow so this is easy) Once you have it out cold, you’ll need lots of berries and narcotic/bio toxin. Then you got an Anky!

The best way to get metal is tame a few of these guys, then get in a tribe if you dont already have one. Then ask your tribe members to grind with you and you'll get loads of metal! I tested this out too. And make sure you alternate between weight and strength to get the most.

To knock it out, walk backwards with a sling shot, and gen newbies can do this! Make sure to have about 30 rocks.

Using tranq arrows with a crossbow is fairly effective running then turning back shooting then running again is fairly easy or making a trap and attacking then lure it to trap

It's best to do a stave tame if you taming one in a dangerous place. So all your resources are not lost.

If u have a lot of diphos then u can killl it easy but can’t bola armor

Axe, Spear, Crossbow, Pike etc you cab kill these things with basically eneything -Big Bill

All I did was run away from the beast, while constantly hitting it in the head with a club while it was unconscious I gave it over a hundred berries to eat on a some narcos and boom I had a ankylosaurus and I named him tank because paleontologists say the are built like tanks

2.knock it out with slingshot

3.feed it berries

4.enjoy

Tip: you can find them at herbivore island very easily.

Honestly Ankies are super easy to tame, they just take a while. You will be using them forever and if you pump Melee damage you get more metal which is a must

Fun fact: They also spawn at the Southern Islets. Go to the intersection that's separating the swamp and you maybe see 2 or more of them in the intersecting island. Although its rare. Its always good to look at there when you started looking for one.

Craazy how it can harvest metal which is stronger than stone but can do nothing to ur metal/stone base.

It reduces the weight of the metal which makes it hands down the best dino to take on a metal run.

If you tame this your metal problems won’t exist, plus if you set it to auto gather and pick it up with anything that can carry it it will automatically gather metal when you get close enough!
