Tips & Strategies

What are tips for acrocanthosaurus? Tips and strategies for acrocanthosaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
For an ascended shotgun 200+ damage for high 145-150, 5 shots will do to bloody it.
Unfortunately on some servers the lag will require to wait for those shots to register with the acro. Because of this I used a tanky deinotherium(high drag weight), health pumped to about 40k with a solid saddle blueprint to eat the acros damage and keep its focus in passive.
Position yourself far enough behind the acro and shoot its rear. Once the required shots have been made, wait for it to leave shield stance and it will 99 percent always go into its adrenaline mode. Run up behind it and feed the bio toxin then step away. Rinse n repeat. This method also removes the fake roar it does.
If this seems too much I think some ppl are using the managarmr method.
Best way to tame it is with mana trust me
When it roars and stuns you, it is NOT in adrenaline mode. You can go back and keep damaging it
Most fun taming I’ve had in a long time.
Taming :you have to shoot it with a sniper/pump shotgun/assault rifle preferably in a good quality so it doesn't break or bring more than one gun then shoot it until it does a weird walk you shoot it more then it will roar and you'll go to it's mouth and put narcotic in hotbar number 0 so you can feed it repeat until knocked out then feed it mutton
Tips :Bio toxin does double the torpor and if you're scared that it might die everytime you feed it the narcotic/biotoxin it fully heals you could also feed it a corpse and finally there's a fake roar you only feed it on the same roar it always does
Use biotoxin instead of narcotics, its better
Be careful with the bait roar—if it catches you, you’ll be stunned and the Acrocanthosaurus will enter rage mode. During this time, it won’t use its defensive stance, meaning you’ll have to wait before continuing the tame
These things are a total pain to tame, and i highly suggest you find tutorials before taming, because i guarantee death for anyone who doesnt know what their doing.
They do not roar if their on bad landscape, make sure to lure them to a flat area.
Traps are optional, but highly recommended.
Low quality weaponry is not advised. Always have a high quality shotgun (preferably) or a fabricated sniper.
Damage from creatures will not work.
You can use a extremely tanky creature to tank hits so you can avoid harm (creatures like a deinosuchus) while you shoot it.
It has 2 roars. A healing roar, and the roar when your ment to feed it. The healing roar starts with it “inspecting” you and its head is lowered. It will then aggressively throw its head up to roar. Do not approach at this time. The second has it immediately roar. Feed and run.
I hope this helps someone tame a acro, good luck searching and happy taming.
Araneo was shockingly useful for this. Normal web shot.
The easiest way to tame them in my opinion is just to use a good deinosuchus
There is quite literally no point of using guns on this game if you have a good level pyromane. The burn damage enough allows it to go into adrenaline and if you bite it goes faster. You can also heal off it, and even when it knocks out for some reason it takes zero taming effectiveness hit (probably because it goes to 0 food and to prevent it from taking starve damage which lowers taming) and you can feed it anything at 100% effectiveness. I’ve tamed a 214 (145 wild) and a 210 (140 wild) both with pyromanes quite easily. And if it blasts you away and then roars you can dash back.
If you can, take a shoulder pyro. You can on the fly shoulder and Unshoulder it to get away if you need too.
1.Ride the pyro to the Acro.. Switch it to shoulder when your close to the Acro (on ps5 you hold R1 and click R3 stick)
2.Shoot the Acro till it is goes intonsheildnstance and keep shooting till it roars and run in and narc it. 3.Unshoulder the pyro to ride away far enough to shoulder the pyro again, and reload the weap (good shotgun) start shooting it again. Try not to let the Acro have enough time to leave its shield stance so it will roar sooner.. Rinse and repeat. If you mess up the narc Unshoulder the pyro and hide till it cools off. Also be wary that same button to narc the acro to throw your pyro off so only press that button once.
I don’t think the torp timer is more than 2hr like it says. Seems more like 30 min to me
The best way is to use pyro because u can instantly tame it because of fire that drains food and also it’s very practical
Tried several ways, but my favorite is a plain ol’ shotgun. Max shotgun should only take 2-3 shots for it to roar, run up feed it, run past, turn around and shoot again. When it does it’s fake roar shoot once to bring health down as it finishes roar, then continue with same routine. Corrupted riot gear also helps a lot.
So to tame this beast you will need:
Pump Action Shotgun (with Ammo)
Metal Gates
Definitely Narcotics (Depends on the level)
Giant Bear Trap
And another Pump Action just in case the first one breaks
So you will need this tame: Mainly Argentavis or a tanky and fast tame that can fit through metal gates
Tutorial: You need to find a Acrocanthosaurus, These mainly spawn on the RedWood, (Center,Island,Astraeos) Carno Island, (Island) and the Dunes, (Scorched Earth and the Biodome in Extinction),
So to finally tame this beast you need to get the Argentavis and build the metal gates near the Acro, you have to get its aggro and lead it to the gates, trap it with the giant bear trap, and place the final metal gate to fully trap it, use the shotgun to shoot it until it goes into a pose, that is the protection or shield pose, you need it to go into that, you keep shooting it until it roars, run to its mouth, and feed it the Narcotics, repeat this until it knocks out. Now kill some dinos or get some Raw Meat, but definitely Prime Meat to feed it and there you go! You tamed my Favorite ARK Modded and Official Tame! The Acrocanthosaurus.
Use Tek rifle or good shotgun, careful when in shield stance. Need lots of element for Tek suit or can use desmo then quickly land to feed bio toxin. Will need lots of bio toxin.
You can trap acros in a 3 by 3 and 2 wall high drop in trap
Tips worth considering:
#1: Bring a friend or play spitscreen.
#2: ALWAYS use bio token, not narcotics. They work, but you'll be there for literal hours.
#3: Use any gun other than the long neck. An upgraded simple pistol will work.
#4: Bring a very tanky tame that you can shoot of the back of. Examples like the thyla.
And #5: When you finally get it down, make sure to have metal spikes on you. I lost a max level to a carno because I didn't have spickes. The metal spikes are worth the investment of materials.
I hope this is helpful to some of yall out there!
