On maps like extinction, if you ugo too close to the border, a image of your specimen implant appears near you health, hunger, thirst, stamina and weight bars, it has a 10 or 5 second timer, if you don't leave in that time you will die, I don't know exactly why but the game says the implant is unstable

Water can be obtained from any water source, including rain! Use a Waterskin, Water Jar or Canteen to fill them up when its raining. (You'll learn this pretty quick though.)

Because of leakage it's unlikely to last until you need it most, when you're water is low. I recommend drinking when you've lost 50 water, and use that time to find more water
