When you place your raft on the water you will get a mix between a structure and a "tame" that spawns in front of you. It has 20k health, you can rename it, and when you ride it there will be a health bar at the bottom of the screen. It is a wooden tier structure, so only dinos that can break wood structures can damage your raft. No wild creature in the game will be aggressive to rafts unless it is a regular or wild leedsichthys. If your raft runs out of hp and "dies" the structure or "corpse" will sink under water then you will get a message that says "your wooden raft (wooden raft) was destroyed" :(
On old mobile similar to dinos there is also an option in its menu to kill it though this button says "destroy"
More Wooden Raft Tips
If you do the grand voyage pursuit on mobile you have to ride using your raft around the entire map, for some reason you are able to skip herbivore and carno island and the glaciers in the northwest part of the map and it will still count.
Warning do not leave and rejoin your game as it will make the progress bar go down by a little bit, this is irreversible and you will have to start the pursuit over again.
These feel OP when you start out you can put dinos and boxes and get to herby island...
When you're riding on it, remember to stay FAAAAAAR away from whales (leedsichtys) or they'll turn angry and destroy your raft.

These things are so good for bases just put down some foundations and put some ceilings of the sides and you can have a big base with all the nice stuff you need I have a ladder on the back and a rap but on the front and you can get some tames in the ramp and piro the rest when you think that you are done with a certain place and it is soooooooooooooooo good I have a baliata on the top of mine this is the same base strat I use in every world it is just so efficient just too class.

Very good for XP farms but a bit costly too repeat
To the guy who says that sail plume (a mobile exclusive item btw)doesn’t equip on the raft is 1 bajjiliioon percent wrong It does equip on the raft just click on the raft hell u don’t even need to craft the item to equip it
I've been playing battleship with these on official. You can place stone foundations halfway through it & completely cover the original vessel. Or, place 1 metal foundation +8 ceilings& then encase that in stairs = alien spaceship. If you used tek, you could feasibly put a tower on top.
My next bbs will have 6x Species X & lined with metal spikes
I learned The hard way that you cant put mammoths in this and other large dinos
