Use a Megatherium in insect-heavy caves or deserts, as its insect buff makes it exceptionally effective for gathering Chitin. Direwolves and Sabertooths are also strong cave-farming options, especially in southern caves, while Moschops excel at harvesting Chitin from Trilobites and other small creatures. Early-game players can use a metal axe or strong weapon to kill and harvest bugs such as scorpions, spiders, ants, and dung beetles, and shell fragments can be ground into Chitin.
