Tips & Strategies

What are tips for chitin? Tips and strategies for chitin in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
*For Aberration OR maps with the Karkinos*
Mid game strategy: Bring any of your mobile hard-hitting Tames with decent weight, kill any Karkinos, but make sure to harvest the corpse with a chainsaw. Voila, you've not only gotten thousands of Chitin, but also thousands of Organic Polymer in likely under 15 minutes. With a x3 harvest server, I could easily net ~1k Chitin per crab with a prim chainsaw.
It would be cool if they added chitin wepons like a sword that’s light to carry or a type of bow
(You don’t have to do this you can use a different tame)
But what I do is get my Barry he is level 57 and I just take it to hunter cave and I kill all bugs in sight and I walk out with more chiten then I know what to do with!
On Valguero take a giga to spider cave entrance, kill mommy spider, then take a high melee theri speced into delicate harvest into cave. Ez 20-30k chitin in one trip.
Make sure to use C attack when you kill the bugs!
Go to any cave filled with bugs on a Megatherium and with a Sinomacrops
If you use a sarco and kill the snails around swamps, you can get lots!
I was riding around with my moschops that has a couple of levels in prime meat harvesting. Killed about 3 trilobites and got a couple stacks of chitin not sure what part of it made it more efficient.
I used a chainsaw and got way more then the hatchet, so I would use that if you haven’t got a tame that does it better.
New best way to farm chitin take a magmasaur or anky to the Sahara on crystal isles and harvest the titanomyrma nests
The fact i found out its pronounced Ky-Tin Is just AUGHH
Kill the megachelon and grind its shells! -Nomads
Kill bug to get
Can be used to make armor and to tame sinomoticops
On crystal Isles there are mineable termite mounds, the anky gathers chitin and clay in large amounts there.
Description:
A firm, flexible piece of skin harvested from an insect
If ya gotta grind chitin just go to the artifact of the hunter chamber and kill the gross as hell insects in there or just go to forests and kill the insects there
Do swan cave with 150 300 mele megathiryum on official or churn cave on hosted with saber
Take a good basi, meg, tuso, plesiosaur, or mosa to gen 1 and hunt for the giant turtles and farm there body’s with a chainsaw. After that take all the shell fragments to a industrial grinder and it gives 100 chitin per fragment. Happy farming !
Tame megatherium and bring him to the swamp cave. Kill a bunch of bug. Easy
Just make a chitin farm...can be tedious and takes some time but tame a bunch of scorpions all female with one male. Build a breeding house for them dump them in breed them like crazy (keep females to lay more eggs and kill the males untill your happy with your egg production) hatch them and let them grow then murder away. Only reason you ever have to pop out for chitin would be if you needed it immediately and you didn't have any scorpions kicking around to murder.
Granted I do have decent breeding settings but nothing crazy and this only really works as a semi automatic farm if you have them able to mature past 10% without them dying .
I think caves are the best places to get chitin (make sure to bring spears)
