Apparently, you can have a wild creature spawn mutated. I just found a baby thorny dragon that has a neon green body with orange top scales. I killed the parents and got the child, and it does have a mutation. So apparently that is a thing and long live green bean the mutated wild baby thorny dragon. Only the babies can have a mutation I think tho.
