One of the lowest risk ways to get eggs is to simply have a flyer, fly near enough to aggro them but not close enough to let them attack you, then simply lead them off a cliff. That will give you plenty of time to check nests. This won’t work on every spawn, because they aren’t always near cliffs, but it works on about half.
