Chapter 25b: The Bosses
Part 2/3: The Megapitcheus
“So… one boss down, and two to go. That’s good, and we still have plenty of Rexes. But here’s the problem.” Red said from the front of the table. Sodden, Serenity and Rod sat near him. “What problem? It’s fine, right?” Sodden said. “It’s not with our creatures. It’s with the location of the terminal itself!” Red exclaimed. “Oh, yeah. I see that. How will we get past them?” Sodden said. “They’d definitely not want us near after what happened earlier. We just gotta tell them that we’re just here for a boss fight.” Red said. “But how? They might just start attacking us instantly and not let us talk.” Rod said. “Okay, maybe we can do something. They might know we’re just here for a boss fight and let us in to the terminal podium. We’ll be teleported to the Megapitcheus arena and then come back and leave. They can just pretend nothing ever happened.” Red said. “Well, that needs to work. We don’t have a lot of time. It’s past 2 in the afternoon.” Sodden said. “Wait, you’re suggesting we ascend before sundown?” Serenity said. “Yeah. So we stay cool in our first hours at Scorched Earth. All of us, except for Serenity, will lose our levels, engrams, and XP. Because she’s connected to a creation of the Prime Heart, her levels are permanent, so they will not be taken away even with ascension. It’ll be night when we get there, and we’ll have some time to set things up.” Sodden said. “That makes sense.” Rod said deeply, looking at his implant. “Rod… something wrong?” Sodden asked. Rod shot a glare at Sodden and said, “Nothing… nothing, dude. Heh.” Rod chuckled. “Okay… Red, now that the plan is set, why don’t we go now?” Sodden asked. “Yeah. I guess. But first, I want to check on Denine.” Red said as he got up from his seat and walked upstairs. He walked to the spiral stairs just across from the stairs connecting the first floor to the second, and the spiral stairs went to the third floor. Red walked right, towards a room that stretched from the base towards the volcano’s steep slope. He opened the door and there were beds set out along the room. A row of 10 beds on each side of the room, with a large cabinet on the other end of the room. On one of the beds, Paul sat on it, and lying on the bed was Denine. Red walked to them, and Paul looked up to see Red. “Hey. How’s she doing?” Red asked. “Pretty good. She’s pretty badly bruised, her implant was slightly damaged, but she’s mostly stable.” Paul said. There were bandages along her arms, and around her chest. “Well, at least she’s fine. Hopefully she doesn’t get attacked again while the others are gone.” Red said. “Yeah. And that other dude from Nameless, he just bled out over the course of like 15 minutes until he died.” Paul said. “Well… don’t forget to tell them to say bye to us before they leave.” Denine said. “I will. Don’t worry.” Red said as he picked up her right hand. Then he put it down and walked out of the room. He went down to the first floor. “Okay, if you need to replenish on food or anything, do it now!” Red yelled as he ran to the castle door. Sodden and the others nodded.
After a few minutes, everyone in the fight was outside of the castle. Sodden, Rod, and Serenity held some cryopods, 3 each. Each one had a Rex in it. Rod held 3 more. Dorack held the last 6. Red had the Daedon and Sodden had the Yuty. The group took some cryopods out then threw them at the ground. The cryopods opened and some Argies came out. Red got on the front one, and Sodden and the others got on the ones behind him. “Okay. We’ll just approach the base without anyone seeing then tell any guards around that we’re just here for the boss fights. You got the tributes, right?” Red asked. Dorack nodded. “Okay. Let’s go.” Red said. The Argies lifted their feet off the ground and took off. They flew towards the Blue Obelisk.
3 hours before Ascension…
The Argies flew to the base of Whitesky peak after around 10 minutes then started flying upwards. They flew up the slope to avoid being seen. Then they went towards the rocks that encased the path up and followed the path. After some time, they reached the tip to see 10 people standing outside the gate, which was wide open. “Oh, look who’s here.” Someone growled. “The terminal device is just straight ahead. Put your Argies down please.” Someone else said. Red nodded then all the Argies flew down to the ground. They put the fliers in the cryopods then walked towards the gate. The gate led into a large room, with stairs and pillars on the sides and a large spiral on the top of the ceiling. There was a large door across from the gate that led to a massive dome. The group walked to it and saw the terminal podium in the center. Then before the group could use any cryopods, someone walked into the room, wearing some ascendant fur armor. It was Cordor. He had to wear only the ascendant since he was a measly Level 3 and couldn’t carry much. “We’ve decided you can leave. We won’t do anything to Nudon when you ascend, but you must promise me one thing. You took away something we loved dearly. I will stop attacking you guys if you get me something like Gunner. He was 100% imprinted, Level 311. He had 39000 HP and 498% melee. There’s only one thing that could top that. A Reaper King. Get me one and that’s it.” Cordor growled. “Well… that does mean losing all levels since it will just burst out of you and kill you almost instantly… so… it might delay leaving Aberration by a little bit, but if that’s gonna get you to stop hurting my friends, then we’ll think of a way.” Sodden said. Rod started growling quietly and made a small grin. Cordor scoffed and stormed away. “Okay, let’s do this.” Dorack said. The group nodded then started putting out their Rexes in a circle around the terminal, until 18 of them surrounded the device, including the Yutyrannus, which Sodden sat on, and the Daedon, which Red sat on. Rod and Serenity both sat on two Rexes, who sat in front of Sodden and his Yuty. Dorack stood in front of the terminal along with Red. Dorack put the Artifact of the Pack, the Artifact of the Devious, and the Artifact of the Brute, along with the tributes, into the terminal. Then the screen showed the three boxes, each one being a Megapitcheus difficulty. “Okay. So… Most of our Rexes are like 90% healed, but the Megapitcheus does a lot of damage with that rock throw. And don’t fall into that ice pit or it’s curtains for you. The plan is simply just to lead the Megapitcheus to us. Sodden will shoot it once and it’ll run at us. Then Dorack and Rod will lead their group around the Megapitcheus to attack it from the back. Sodden and Serenity will lead their group to attack the Megapitcheus from the front. Ready?” Red asked. Everyone nodded. Red then clicked the red button and an alarm went off. The terminal showed a countdown. “Teleporting to Alpha Megapitcheus in 30 seconds.” Then the gate closed just then. Everyone above the terminal was running downstairs so they wouldn’t get teleported on accident. “Teleporting in 10… 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Transportation initiated!” Then suddenly, a large blue ball of light appeared around the group.. It spun around faster and faster until it collapsed then compressed everyone into energy particles, being contained by the blue ball. Then it launched from the terminal, going through the ceiling and through the obelisk’s light. Then it reached the top and left the Ark’s force field, then traveled to the pole that held the Megapitcheus. It flew towards it quickly, and the light could be seen from below. Ark survivors were looking up, and seeing the light streak, which looked kind of like a comet, going to the pole. Then it went through the wall and hit the podium inside, which was a large arena full of snow and trees, and a ruined building with a path going to it. The ball expanded and everyone was back to their normal forms. Sodden and his Yuty went past the Rexes and towards the Alpha Megapitcheus. Sodden took out a shotgun, walked towards the steps, and shot it once. The large gorilla quickly turned around and screeched. Sodden put the shotgun away and went back to the Rexes. The gorilla screeched as it ran towards the Rexes. The Rexes split up and went to the formation. Dorack’s group went to the back. Sodden’s group went to the front. The gorilla screeched then threw a rock at the front Rexes. Three of them got pushed back, then Sodden’s Yuty let out a shriek, and it energized the Rexes. Red’s daedon stayed with the Yuty, which stayed to the side. The Rexes started to penetrate the skin. Then the gorilla stood up and pounded its chest with its two fists, then some monkeys got summoned. They started smacking down the feet of the front Rexes, and the Rexes were biting their bodies down. There was blood on the ground, but the Megapitcheus wasn’t getting any worse. Its skin was very tough like the Broodmother, and this would be the same for the Dragon and Overseer. The Dragon was massive, and the Overseer was made of metal. But not just any metal. The same substance used in a survivor’s implant. And there was only one thing that could destroy that kind of stuff. The god shotgun. The Rexes had their teeth on the gorilla’s back, and the gorilla kept punching the Rexes and pushing them off. Then the gorilla summoned another rock and hit a Rex in the head with it. It screeched and got thrown back, then it stumbled and tripped. It fell over into the ice pit. One Rex down. Then the gorilla lifted its fists again and slammed them into one of the front Rexes’ feet. It screeched in pain then fell over. Then it roared as it pounded its chest with its fists again, thus summoning more minions. The minions started pushing back the rexes. The Yuty kept shrieking to energize the Rexes. The Daedon was healing some of the Rexes nicely, but they were still getting pushed around. The gorilla started to get tears in its skin, and it was punching and pushing off Rexes. Then, some of the Rexes sunk their teeth into the largest tear, which was pretty small and on the middle of the gorilla’s back. They started pulling it, and the gorilla screeched in pain and summoned another rock, then threw it over his head and it hit the three Rexes away. One of them fell into the pit. Then when it turned around to start attacking, all the other Rexes sunk their teeth into the wounds. Then the gorilla screeched as blood burst out of its skin and it started slowing. “The things these Rexes can do… no wonder they’re the king of the Dinos.” Sodden said. The gorilla screeched weakly as it ran around, then tripped and fell into the pit. Then when the screeching stopped and the ice spikes took the Megapitcheus out, a blue crate appeared on the podium. Everyone looked to it, then Sodden walked to the crate. He opened it up and took out a lot of element, along with the Alpha Megapitcheus trophy. “That means we only got one guardian left.” Red said. “Then the tek cave.” Sodden said. “Then the ultimate finale: the overseer.” Dorack said. He hopped off his Rex and the group put all the creatures in some cryopods. “Teleporting back in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Returning to Ark now…” Then the terminal summoned a blue dome, and the group walked into it. It spun faster and faster until it collapsed and compressed everyone into a form of energy inside the blue ball. The blue orb left the arena and flew to the blue obelisk and accelerated as it reentered the Ark dome and touched down onto the podium. Then the ball expanded and everyone was back to their normal forms. The gates opened and the group walked out of the base.
After a few minutes, the fliers were set out just outside of the base. Everyone got on the Argies, then Sodden looked back at Nameless. He looked ahead as the Argies took off. Cordor walked outside and looked up. “We’ll get back at you one day.” Cordor said.
After a while, the group arrived back at Nudon. Ascension was coming. There was one guardian left before the Overseer.
